With three versions of Angel: this 2015 Gravity, Thierry Mugler’s 2013 Star Edition, and the current one, I have to say there’s very little difference between this and the new reformulation. The Gravity’s opening is more patchouli-like, and I notice the red fences a bit more, but once it dries down, there’s barely any difference. There’s only a very subtle nuance in the dry-down of this edition. That tiny bit is what makes the difference and makes me prefer it over the reformulated Angel. I think if you already own one, it’s not worth having both just for the scent. What’s clear is that it doesn’t just contain those four notes.

I own all three versions of Angel: the 2015 Gravity, Mugler’s 2013 Star Edition, and the current one. Comparing this to the latest reformulation, the difference is minimal. The Gravity’s opening smells more like patchouli, and the red fences are slightly more noticeable, but once it dries down, there’s barely any distinction. The only real difference is a faint nuance in the dry-down of this edition, which is why I prefer it over the reformulated Angel. If you already own one, I don’t think it’s worth buying both just for the scent. The truth is, it’s not just those four notes.

I think the listed notes here are wrong because I own this fragrance, and it’s very similar to the original—the difference is almost imperceptible. This version also has excellent longevity and a powerful sillage.

  4. I haven’t been lucky enough to try the original 1992 Angel, but I have the new reformulation and now this Gravity Star by Thierry Mugler. I can say that for me, there’s no difference between these two versions. I love it just as much as the reformulated Angel; I get the same ripe, almost overripe fruits with lots of honey. I believe it’s the same thing, and the notes listed here are incorrect.

  5. I haven’t had the fortune of trying the original 1992 Angel version, but I have the new reformulation and now this Gravity Star by Thierry Mugler. I can say that for me, I don’t see any difference between these two versions. I love it just as much as the reformulated Angel; I get the same ripe, almost damaged fruits with lots of honey. I believe it’s the same thing, and the notes listed here are wrong.

The new jewel on my vanity. Starting with the packaging: the box is large and unusual, featuring a star aesthetic with embossing. Upon opening, the bottle is amazing: thick glass with its artisanal imperfections, metallic details on the cap and sprayer; it’s truly outstanding. The scent has a light hint of Angel when you open the box, that familiar touch you know. Once applied, it’s a bit softer than the traditional version, but longevity is above average: comfortable for about 6 hours on skin and lasting days on clothes. Its sillage is softer, lacking that intrusive potency we know. If you have the opportunity, buy it. That star can last you years; you can refill it until you get tired of it, or if you thought Angel was good but too invasive, this slightly mellowed version might please you more.
