  • At first it smells like coffee or chocolate, both of which I dislike in perfumes. Then it started smelling like old makeup. The more I wore it on my skin, the more horrendous it became; there’s no other word for it. I tried to find a similar product I liked to make it more bearable, but there was no way. The next day I decided to try it again, since I give perfumes a few chances, but with this one I was already scared to prepare myself for the nauseating smell from the previous day. On top of that, I had a headache and this perfume made it worse. In the end, there was no way to make me like it. I will avoid any perfume that smells like Ange ou l’Aube on my skin for the rest of my life.

  • I wanted this perfume in my collection, I was so excited to have it in my hands. When I first smelled it, I fell in love with the scent, but then as it settled it became very strong, like an older woman’s perfume. I discarded it immediately because I felt it was too heavy for me.

  • Spicy, vanilla, and elegant. Strong opening with amazing trail and projection thanks to the combination of saffron, thyme, and mandarin, giving it a balanced citrus touch. Floral in the heart and in the dry down, that exquisite vanilla sweetness; the depth and mystery come from tonka bean, Brazilian rosewood, and oakmoss. A true delight, a happy punch to the nose that keeps you hypnotized and knocked out for the entire life of the fragrance, about twelve hours. Projects to two meters for the first three or four hours, then fades but lingers. Definitely one of my favorites. Blind buy? No, because it’s not for every nose. It’s a fragrance with a lot of character and you need to have it to wear it. Not for young girls, more for women 25 and up who like invasive fragrances, the kind that definitely turn heads.

I like it quite a bit; it’s vanilla, spicy, and powdery, very special. I understand why it’s not for everyone. It’s not vintage, just not one of those typical scents everyone likes. I mainly smell saffron and thyme, sweetened with vanilla and ilang ilang. I’ve heard my mom’s friends (over 60) wear it, but I, at 20, would use it. I’m not sure if I’d buy it because I think I wouldn’t get through the bottle; I’d only wear it at night for special, elegant occasions. But I like it and the quality is excellent.

  • I met this five years ago as a surprising, intense retro that commanded presence and elegance. A few days ago I wanted to try it again and found the unpleasant news that it had been reformulated. That word usually means a drop in quality, diluted notes, and a higher price for mediocre performance. That’s exactly what happened. Now Ange ou l’Aube is a bland juice smelling like baby powder with similar performance. We know labs change formulas for hypoallergenic, vegan, or cheaper ingredients, which shouldn’t affect quality or originality so much. Hopefully chemistry will keep trying to recover the experience instead of just making splash-style shower scents.

  • Bought this perfume blind and then regretted it; I couldn’t stand it. I gave it to my daughter. Definitely, I can’t handle the saffron note; it makes my stomach turn. It’s one of those you have to smell before buying.

Incredible. I’ve known it since launch and despite two reformulations, it’s still a great perfume, different from current trends. I love it for that: it’s distinct, addictive, and sensual, suitable for all seasons. Lasts almost all day. Projection is two hours or more. The reformulated version is more wearable, in my opinion.

I was looking for something to surprise me, tried a lot of decants and nothing until I found this. It’s not one of my favorite scents, but when I smelled it, I felt every part of my brain light up with each note. My senses went crazy. I insist, it’s not what I usually wear, but DEFINITELY it will be part of my collection. It’s magical, elegant, and perfect for standing out.

  • I was really hoping it would be what I expected, but it wasn’t. As soon as I smelled it, I knew it wasn’t sweet or vanilla like I thought; it just smelled like very vintage white flowers. Not what I was looking for.

  • Bought it blind three years ago and the saffron gave me a headache at first. It didn’t convince me, but I didn’t want to throw it away. Recently I wore it again and it doesn’t make me dizzy anymore; I actually love how it captivates my nose. I’ve worn it for days and I’m obsessed. Finally, it won over its audience and it’s so relaxing. It’s unique, not one of the typical ones, and I like that. Lasts forever on the skin, even after a shower.

I can only say: I fell in love with this wonderful perfume. It was one of those loves you never realized was always there. I searched for it on purpose thanks to fragrance YouTuber Amber Black; after years of following her, I found out we have almost the same opinions and tastes. She shared her first time smelling it and fell in love, so I thought: I must smell it because if we share tastes… And that was it. It will be my next acquisition. I’m not a huge fan of Givenchy collections; their personalities usually don’t appeal to me, so I never paid attention to Ange ou Démon. How much was I missing out on? It’s one of the few fragrances that has captured me since its release. I detect saffron that then transforms into a strong yet delicate lily of the valley with orchids, finishing wrapped in vanilla, wood, and moss. My receptors pick this up, and what a pleasure, because although I’m a gourmand, I demand that the sweet side have seriousness, security, and personality. I’ve fallen in love with the Angel and the Demon because the Angel wraps you in soft white flowers while the Demon tempts you with tonka bean and oak. I really saw the meaning in the name: it has sweetness but also seriousness, something hard to find. It’s for dressed-up occasions, though it would work for daily wear, but personally I think it’s more for night and serious yet youthful vibes. You must smell it. Not much more to say: nothing has disappointed me about this masterpiece. It surprised me and has become an unforgettable gem in my collection.

Ange ou Démon surprised me, and the surprise was very pleasant. I tested it in a store a few months ago with warm weather; I don’t know if the tester was off or if the heat made it evaporate quickly, but I only caught a hint of lily of the valley and that’s it. That same day I also tested The Only One and was surprised to feel more of TOO than AoD 😩. This mysterious and striking bottle has always caught my eye; that black gradient gives me something, and that droplet shape 💧 seems like the bottle a witch from the world of King Arthur would hang at her waist… But time passed, I saw a good online deal, and combined with the moderate hype on social media as a perfume that lasts days, it became a ‘I must have it’. We’re in autumn 🍁 now, and with it in my hands, wow… the first spray is wonderful, finally I can smell that famous vanilla, that aromatic point I assume comes from the thyme and saffron… it really highlights the lily of the valley on my skin. To finish: it is NOT at all a vintage scent. I must emphasize this so more girls feel encouraged to try this wonderful aroma and worthy classic from Givenchy. It has elegance but also works for a date with your guy, going to the movies, or hanging out with friends. I see it for everything; less for work or grocery shopping, save it for less mundane things. I’ll keep testing this potion to see if the hype about its longevity and trail is real. Ciao mininos 🫶

  • This was love at first sniff. I met it back in 2011. A coworker with similar tastes used it one day. It was so delicious I asked which one it was, and she told me Ange ou Démon. I went to a department store, tested it on my skin, and what a madness—I loved it. The problem was the price; I wasn’t in the best financial shape, so I couldn’t buy it. Now it’s in my collection and remains one of my favorites. Spiced, sweet, seductive, dark, sensual. I feel it’s unique; I wear it when I want to stand out. Plus, it lasts all day and on clothes until you wash them. For me, 10/10.

  • Ugh, what happened to this perfume, for the love of God? It’s a disaster. I had a few milliliters left of the original juice in an old bottle and decided to grab another one without realizing about the reformulation. Thank goodness I ordered it to test before buying: it’s a hard no. The scent isn’t terrible, but it has nothing to do with what I was looking for. I understand my bottle has mature (and beautiful) liquid, but how can it be like this? The original is a powdery cream of saffron and vanilla with touches of tangerine peel; this new version is a mess of citrus that doesn’t even fit the bill. Alas, when it dries down, it kind of resembles something. Do I have to buy it anyway? Is this my last hope? Will another reformulation happen to bring it closer? Or will they discontinue it forever? I understand those who like it. I repeat: it’s not bad, now more unisex than before, but for those who knew and loved the original, this is almost a crime.

  • The only thing I can say is that for me, it has been: ‘how to get a terrible headache and feel unwell from a single spray’. 💀

  • nataliedrm

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE? Few perfumes have given me that wow factor, and I terribly regret not knowing about it sooner, even though I’d seen it in fashion magazines since its launch. Still WOW: it’s a bottle full of powdered orchids in vanilla. It’s always hard for me to put words to the ones I love, and this is no exception. On first sniff, it smelled like brand-new plastic (sometimes I still get that vibe), but with wear, I discovered it’s like wearing Cori Passion (the dupe that beats Alien hands down) with a few drops of vanilla and tonka bean. A marvel! If the question is whether it’s an angel or a demon, with day or night wear, it becomes ideal for a formal meeting, something casual, or the crown jewel of a romantic night out. Thank you, Givenchy, for this beauty.

  • Perfect for cold days and nights, it feels like a warm hug. It’s sweet and mysterious; the spices and woods give it depth, a dark and creamy touch, complemented by the orchid which adds a floral creaminess. I have it as a decant since I wanted to try it first, and it definitely made my wishlist.

  • Josfer0512

Delicious! I went hunting today to find it on sale because in my country it costs over $150 USD 😒😕—that’s the price tag for designer scents in South America. I checked two department stores and finally found it at the last one with a 40% discount 🥳. I finally have it. It’s special, unique, mysterious, creamy, vanilla, woody, and very spicy, especially elegant. It’s totally out of the ordinary. When I bought it, several girls stopped to ask what I was wearing because the scent filled the room. I’ll use it for evening events and cold days. Try it before buying because you might love it or hate it. For me, it’s a perfect 10/10. Tip: apply it to your skin and let it settle for a while.

  • mcandela_

Best-in-class longevity and sillage, but it’s not for everyone. It’s very vintage, has one ingredient that doesn’t quite convince me, though vanilla dominates. It smells mysterious, femme fatale. I think it’s original because I haven’t found any dupe; it’s rare and hard to replicate, at least in Argentina. But I couldn’t stand it: I find it heavy and it just doesn’t sell on me. If you want something that lasts two days, this is your guy.

  • Vanessa Osorno

In the olfactory pyramid, I only detect vanilla and rosewood due to its woody notes; I can’t identify the rest. This isn’t for everyone: it requires someone with a dominating personality and strong character because it’s dark, dense, and imposing. I bought it twice: first in 2012 after a breakup, seeking something aphrodisiac, nocturnal, that would turn me into a demon without that ‘good girl’ or watermelon scent. Once I scraped together the cash (which here doesn’t drop below $100), I got it. Applying it while drowning in sadness, I felt possessed. The notes gave me unimaginable confidence, a urge to explore the night, and left a trail that made people ask what I was wearing. It was mysterious to the opposite sex, soaked into clothes for 24 hours even after washing. As the name suggests, it became my favorite for months: a demon at night, an angel by day. With a new relationship, I left it behind. It hurt, but I had to move on. In 2023, I bought it again to feel that same 10-year-old security, but nothing was the same: it didn’t click, it felt boring and soulless. Did they reformulate it? Change the notes? Did I buy an expired batch? Or maybe I only connected back then because of the stage of life and a broken heart…

  • A confusing perfume. It has a demonic opening—piercing and stinging; the saffron and thyme are extremely noticeable, giving an aroma similar to camphor, very mentholated. It takes time to settle, at least an hour, where everything smells like that scent that to me resembles Eden, very vintage and super invasive, before giving way to its angelic side, where the lily and vanilla emerge, transforming into a summer beach with wet salty sand and sunscreen. After three hours, it seems like another perfume: creamy, vanilla-forward, soft, angelic, with no trace of that demon it emerged from. The dry down seems beautiful, but that saffron and thyme note from the first spray makes me question whether I’d wear it. I have a decant; I’ll give it other chances. As a first encounter, it was quite intense.

  • Atelier1920

The scent is original, different, and striking. Longevity and sillage are a disaster. I can’t justify spending 70 euros on 50 ml that doesn’t last; it’s a scam. I don’t understand how a house like Givenchy could do this. I won’t buy it again and absolutely don’t recommend it.

  • Intense and elegant scent. Not youthful; rather for an elegant lady 35+ (which is how it sits on my skin). It’s intense; you can smell the vanilla and saffran. I was gifted it at 23 and didn’t like it, but now at 34 I love it; I wear it when going out at night. If you don’t like very intense scents, this isn’t for you.

  • I bought it blindly based on a review describing it as vanilla, elegant, mysterious, and vibrant. But when I wear it, I feel the opposite; I feel like an older lady. Well, it’s a good fragrance; I can imagine an older, well-off lady meeting friends for tea at a nice café, eating sweet snacks, maybe a raspberry macaron or a lemon pie. I barely detect any vanilla, but it has a generally clean, floral-spicy aroma.

  • I don’t like it because the opening is quite strong; the saffron and thyme smell half-sweet and half-spiced. Honestly, if you like spicy scents, it’s nice, but I suffered through it.

  • FlorFanatica

I was very disappointed because the opening is too strong and lasts all day; I had to shower to get rid of it because I couldn’t stand it. It also gave me a vintage vibe, honestly I was expecting something else.

  • Despite following the page for years, this is the first time I’m reviewing this because I don’t understand the negative reviews for this wonderful fragrance. It’s fascinating, long-lasting, enveloping, deep, and noticeable, just like they should be. Its name fits perfectly with its tender flowers and intense spices; a sensual scent that’s sometimes delicate. Made to seduce a few, as if he were charming you because you caught his eye. Its tonka bean, lily, spices, and flowers create a beautiful duality. The best part: it wasn’t made to please everyone, and that fascinates me.

  • Malena denise

If you want something that lasts, buy this. It lasts for days. The downside is it’s very ladylike, nothing youthful. The saffron is too prominent and the vanilla isn’t very balanced with that note. But if you’re looking for high projection and longevity, I highly recommend it, especially considering the price.

  • Was my nighttime signature for 6 years, from 19 to 25. I switched to Alien, which is rich, but now at 35 I’ve brought it back and I love it. It smells vintage yet perfect, lasts forever, and is gorgeous. It suits my skin exquisitely; such beautiful memories.

  • Bluemonday

In my opinion, the house Givenchy has excellent quality in perfumery; it’s my favorite. I love this perfume! Its complexity, its duality. Nothing compares to it. I feel wrapped in warmth every time I wear it. Yes, it’s not easy; I know, sometimes it’s heavy and hard to decipher, but that’s the magic. That it doesn’t have a dupe, that it’s unique. I enjoy it so much.

  • Perla Vencis

When it comes to quality, Givenchy never fails, and this is no exception. There’s quality and good taste here. I love enjoying the evolution. At first, I definitely notice the saffron and thyme. The floral blend is perfect; they dance to the same tune, none dominating, I sense flashes of all three. Although it has vanilla and habanera in the base, I never smell it sweet, but rather woody, with a touch of cinnamon and an almond-like powder. I know it from a decant I used three times; without a doubt, if I find it on sale, I’ll buy it because it’s a unique scent.

  • I’m surprised that, unless you’re trained to recognize those vintage mom-and-grandma scents, it can sound clean but ”creamy”. Usually, vanilla notes bring caramel, but not here. On my skin, as it dries, it turns lactonic and metallic—what’s going on? Does this happen to others? I love how, in the dry-down, I get wet earth and night-blooming flowers that only open at night… it’s a masterpiece. I wear it at home to catch those nuances; outside, it smells like a clean, spiced floral, but if you pay attention, it’s a whole other story.

  • Aromadiccioness2

Pure, absolute glory! I had this amazing perfume completely forgotten. I’ve had one since I moved to Mexico and only used it a couple of times (I used to save it for special occasions). Now, looking for something to wear after a hot shower on a cold night, voila! Deep in the closet, this one shone through 😇😈. I sprayed just a little (less than with modern perfumes)… GOD! I had completely forgotten its scent! It shines immediately: a citrus with something extra and a flower not commonly found in 2025. Of course, I ran to check the notes, and it’s that thyme that perfectly complements the citrus. WOW! That lily mixed with warm vanilla, but with ylang-ylang, which is my favorite, all rounded out. It doesn’t smell like plain vanilla because it’s so well-rounded with tonka and woods. I’d say it has a bit of civet or forbidden materials, because the scent speaks for itself. Very much in the style of the big perfumes I loved at 15 (now I’m 50): Obsession, Poison, Colors… that kind of style. When they were indecipherable and enigmatic, not like now when everything smells like marshmallows. I don’t know if it’s still available, but it’s not for someone used to modern scents if you’re young. It’s so sensual it makes me feel dancing and floating in red-soled heels. Obviously, it’s for night and cold days. Very narcotic, very passionate, it makes you feel like another woman. It makes you feel empowered, ready to shout to the world who you are. What a thing! I’ll be wearing it out soon. 1000 out of 1000. If you want to see more reviews, follow me on TikTok. ATTE. AROMADICCIONES.

  • It’s horrible. I tried to like it because it was a gift, but there’s no way. It smells very bitter, nothing like the seductive, ideal evening scent everyone says it is. If you wear this, run. Even though it’s less strong on my skin than on others, I still can’t stand it.

  • What a beautiful, special fragrance, not for everyone. Its intensity and complexity are striking; it’s warm, super intense, and spiced, finishing with a powdery, almost angelic dry-down that matches its name. Perfect for a woman with character, nothing princess-like. The trail and longevity are brutal. I suspect they changed the original formula, but it still fascinates me after years of wearing it. Without a doubt, one of my favorites.

  • Patricia 3881

Even though the notes don’t list rice, it smells like spiced rice steam with vanilla. It’s mysterious, warm, and sweet without being cloying—deep yet not intrusive. Unique, and I love it.

  • It’s a dark, complex jewel, a true personal masterpiece, but beware: never buy it blindly or gift it. It’s far too specific for others’ tastes.
