  • The most standout quality of this perfume is the trail; it projects a lot and smells great. Regarding gender, I don’t believe much in that; anyone who wants to wear it should. It’s becoming harder to find competent perfumes that put restrictions on people due to cultural or marketing gender issues…

  • For me, Alien Essence Absolue is a very special version of Alien, but with powdery notes that embrace the skin. With Essence Absolue, it gives new depth to the original EDP. It has a rounder and more complex opening than the original and manages to permeate the air without being bothersome. A magnetic and sensual fragrance with warm, amber, and vanilla notes that provide warmth and a fascinating aura. A PERFECT ELIXIR to shine on special occasions.

  • Beautiful and solemn, the creamiest and most woody jasmine ever, like a caramel with flowers and amber. Honestly, I would title it “Blood of the Sun.” Each application is beautifully intense and possesses its own heat, as if it were a spray of solar rays. Serious and captivating at its core, it reminds me of Guerlain’s Samsara. Without a doubt, a beautiful, powerful, and unique scent. I own only one sample and would love to have the fragrance in its original jewel packaging. Beautiful and golden.

  • A perfume with a “DIVA” aura. It’s a very warm scent that envelops you with a medium-sweet halo that doesn’t bother unless you overapply it. Very comforting and with immense longevity. PERFECT SCENT!

  • Blended by your notes, I wake up in a dream: I am a tree, wood devoid of green and pulp, but filled with hidden gems pregnant with jasmine that satisfy my wooden hands, swollen with balsamic chachemira and vanilla seeking to touch the sky. I embark on my millimeter journey toward a Ra that guides me with solar rays of incense and myrrh. The day has arrived: my wood has touched your fire, the treasures I carry perfume you, and your warmth accompanies me; I no longer need to raise my eyes to find you… you dazzle like the sun, but now also through my pores. It has spilled onto my skin, a love song. Its verses smell of jasmine, fossilized in golden amber, yearning to shine in the sunlight. Your music envelops and elevates me, and I know that when I “hear” you, you might be all of life.

  • A beautiful, imposing perfume. Woody jasmines with a touch of vanilla. Its longevity and projection are optimal. You will never go unnoticed. Try it if you like oriental scents with character, amber, and wood notes, with smoky touches like myrrh. Another gem from Mugler. Just a recommendation: don’t let it touch your clothes, because its caramel color will stick and stain, and you won’t be able to remove it. Don’t forget!

  • A standout women’s fragrance. It’s warm, penetrating, and highly enveloping. When applied to the skin, it smells mentholated (I assume a mix of jasmine and woody lily), but it lasts at most a minute. When it dries down, it changes radically: it becomes creamier, sweeter, and balsamic, closer and more pleasant. At the end, a timid vanilla and incense remain, making it irresistible. I think it’s a marvel, though I can’t overuse it because I’d get tired of its intensity quickly; it’s for special occasions. Still, it’s a beast of a perfume!

  • Areida Eau

One of the high-quality, popular, and accepted perfumes, but I just can’t tolerate it. It reminds me of the BonBon by V&R: that soapy and caramelized mix with amber that makes them seem strange. It’s an indiscreet, elegant, and chaotic scent. The longevity and intensity are considerable, so it’s best used in winter or cold climates. I find it very heavy. Woods, incense, and amber stand out—dense, warm aromas that overshadow the vanilla; it’s like putting a bowl of these elements in the shower and submerging them in hot soapy water. Despite being serious and heavy, it’s contemporary, represents the chemistry of scents well, and has high-end quality for those who enjoy exotic and oriental aromas.

  • I have to say, I agree 100% with Chelo1’s review. We’ve had parallel stories with this perfume; I also postponed the moment of possessing you. You are absolutely beautiful in our first encounter and in my memory, so you will always be perfect. Now that we are together, for me, you remain a mystery: you place me in ancient Egypt, you are an exultant pharaoh, a golden pyramid full of esoteric treasures, and an irreplaceable hieroglyph of wood, jasmine, amber, incense, and myrrh. To decipher you, a piece is missing: skin. And if you succumb to it, the soul does too. Thanks to your criteria and sensitivity, that my reviews please you, it’s a gift for me. Thank you a million!

  • Good afternoon! I’ve been wanting this fragrance for a year, and today I finally have it! I tested it at several perfume counters and used up the samples like liquid gold (what a beautiful color it is). If I like it so much, why did I buy other perfumes instead of this one? Has anyone else felt like the dream is so beautiful you don’t want to wake up? That’s exactly what happened with Alien Essence Absolue; I feared that owning it would make the dream vanish, but instead, it came true. It’s very hot today, but as evening falls, I sprayed this and am going for a long walk. Generally, it evolves better in winter, but it will be intoxicating on summer nights, like jasmine in midsummer. I won’t detail the ingredients (they’re right there), but each one is a “gem.” On me, jasmine, vanilla, and amber stand out. I suppose the myrrh and incense add longevity and a special touch. The trail and longevity are excellent. It’s now one of my favorites. Cheers to YLLA for the beautiful odes you write! Greetings to everyone.

I tested this fragrance and couldn’t stop commenting because it is intensely magnificent. If Alien was perfect in its simplicity, Essence Absolue is perfect in its complexity. The jasmine is dyed with sweet brushstrokes of vanilla on a warmer, more intense amber base. Creamier and candied, yet not youthful; on the contrary, it’s more stately and nocturnal. Despite testing it in the heat (and with just one spray), it didn’t saturate me at all; I don’t think it’s as flat as Alien, though it clearly develops better in winter. If Alien EDP fascinated you, Essence Absolue will obsess you, but if Alien seems too much, look elsewhere, because E.A. has legendary power (maybe try A. Eau Extraordinaria where the classic composition is “refreshed”). It’s not just an intense version, but an enriched, indulgent, and updated flanker. Alien seemed unbeatable, but I don’t know if Pierre Aulas equals or surpasses it with this deep masterpiece.

  • It’s a more potent version than Alien; for me, it’s almost addictive. It has become one of my favorite perfumes; it envelops me with that vanilla and jasmine scent, lasts for hours, and leaves an incredible trail for those of us who don’t want to go unnoticed. It’s hard to find in Chile, so I treasure it and buy it every time I see it on a trip. ‘Marvelous’ is the bare minimum I can say about this intoxicating elixir.

  • vanilla-lover

I’m dying to try it; it’s not available here, so my hope is to find it when I travel. I love the original Alien and adore the notes listed on the website. Does anyone know if the liquid is yellow or if it looks darker in the bottle? Online, I see it very dark, and I’m scared it might be expired. I’m so desperate I’d even consider buying it blind.

  • Casablanca77

Alien Essence Absolue is the little sister of Alien, a sweet flanker dedicated to those who can’t quite pull off the original or want to switch things up. It has that beautiful Mugler vanilla, not cloying, and an intense heart. It’s the perfect option if you don’t dare with Alien: it’s like taming a Doberman that licks passersby, yet it remains beautiful, powerful, and balanced. Mugler uses everything well, with great longevity and trail. It’s original, classy, and potent. A flanker that shows its roots but has something extra that makes it attractive. Another great discovery.

  • For a week, I wore Alien Essence Absolue instead of Opium Black, and it was the best switch. I liked the original Alien, but I felt cold and distant, like a perfume for successful, strict women I couldn’t identify with. AEA keeps that base but adds creamy vanilla, exotic myrrh, and nocturnal incense, making it warm, sweet, and obsessive. It’s intense, vibrant, and lasts about 10 hours, creating a cloud around you. It’s a younger version, less rigid but just as powerful, ideal if you like Alien but don’t dare to use it. It’s already my signature for its good humor and quality. If Alien doesn’t suit you but you like it, try its flankers; you’ll surely find your version.

  • Gaby Pedroza

I saw it coming out online many times, but I was so in love with my Alien EDP that it didn’t catch my attention. I was gifted a sample of Alien Essence Absolue, and I must admit, smelling it in the bottle, it just smelled like Alien. It was when I applied it to my skin that I realized how wonderful it is. It keeps the original DNA and managed to improve something that was already perfect. It’s like an Alien wrapped in a velvet blanket with an overdose of vanilla, very cozy and intoxicating. I agree with SeleneHdez: the opening has a hint of root beer, and I sense a creamy chocolate touch (even though it’s not listed in the notes). The only downside is how hard it will be to find. Wide trail and extraordinary longevity.

  • vanilla-lover

Finally, I have it. The bottle is the most beautiful of all the Aliens. The scent is similar to the original (same DNA) but much creamier, more intimate, and elegant. It’s excellent for wearing without bothering anyone, perfect for those who don’t dare try the other one because it’s so loud. On the skin, the amber and jasmine notes are unmistakable, with a delicious gourmand aspect but nothing intrusive. If you love strong perfumes, choose the original; if you prefer something sober and sensual, this is for you. I expected something different and bought it blind; despite being a delight, I think for me it’s easier to wear the original because my skin softens the notes a lot, and with this one, after three hours, I think only I can smell it.

  • Intense jasmine with sweet vanilla that isn’t cloying, all wrapped in amber. I don’t notice the myrrh, but I’m grateful Mugler still makes complex, personality-driven perfumes. Hopefully, they don’t follow the trend of light, fleeting scents. Ideal for semi-formal or formal occasions; it’s more of a night scent but works great for work if you’re a decisive, authoritative woman. It leaves a trail in meetings and offices. Longevity and projection are excellent, as Thierry Mugler has always delivered.

  • Although it carries the DNA of the original, it’s not just another flanker; it has so much character that it stands on its own. It’s less overwhelming, softer, and easier to wear if you can’t handle the classic Alien. At first, you get classic jasmine mixed with gardenia, which softens it and adds creaminess. Heliotrope adds almond and anise sparkles, while cashmere wood and soft myrrh ground it, making it carnal and authentic. The base is a sweet, rich, dense vanilla with no sugar rush, paired with woody amber. Subtle incense notes warm it up and add resinous depth. Unlike its sisters, it’s more feminine, intimate, and velvety. An exquisite elixir for special events, dates, or cold evenings. The juice is potent and turns a dark amber color, so be careful with light clothes. The bottle is heavy, ergonomic, and refillable. It’s a warm oriental amber scent. The vanilla has a gourmand touch with hints of honey, cinnamon, and anise. The trail is impressive and longevity reaches 8 hours. It reminds me of the vanilla base in Avon’s Far Away and Gaultier 2. It’s like a curvy, approachable girl who is generous and luminous, dazzling with a chic, pin-up air. A heart of gold.

  • It’s my first Alien and a total stroke of luck to snag it at a discount. It opens strong with a vintage vibe, but the jasmine and vanilla soften it into honeyed white flowers. Intense, feminine, and elegant; if I had to pick one word, it’s ‘elegant’. The trail and longevity are top-notch: I wore it last night and can still smell it at noon today while moving around. I love this concentrate and wouldn’t trade it for anything.

  • Crisindian

I had the chance to buy it at an excellent price and what luck I had!! At first it smells very much like the original Alien which by the way never fully convinced me but little by little the jasmine gives way to a soft vanilla that sweetens it mixed with incense that doesn’t darken it but rather makes it intoxicating and very luminous. It does remind me of Classic Essence by JPG I don’t know why. The longevity is extraordinary (thanks Mugler) and although it might seem intense it doesn’t overwhelm me now in summer. I’m obsessed 😍

  • I call this a work of art worth investing in. It’s a flanker with purpose that in my opinion has nothing to envy the original though it undoubtedly carries its DNA. The opening is powerful and the dry-down is an incredibly delicious vanilla that will accompany you all day. The concentration of essential oils is high; a Mugler employee told me it was between 20-22%. That’s why you don’t need more than 4 sprays. It’s appropriate for low temperatures. In short a jewel that both men and women should try. Scent 9/10 Sillage 9/10 Longevity 9/10.

  • Reading wonderful reviews about this fragrance I expected a bit more from it. It’s very similar to classic Alien; its trail and longevity aren’t as strong as described. So far it hasn’t managed to dethrone my Burberry Black. The characteristic Alien jasmine dominates with a soft vein of vanilla and amber. It’s not a bad perfume but if you know classic Alien this flanker won’t dazzle you entirely.

  • I bought it because I loved the scent. I waited for winter to use it without regrets since for summer the smell is super strong. But when the cold finally arrived and I wore it I felt it was exhausting. I have to apply a tiny bit to tolerate it. I’m disappointed because it was very expensive and it fatigues me.

  • Terrible. It was a blind buy because it’s discontinued following the good reviews I had read but it turned out to be very intrusive and a disagreeable smell. I tried to like it but it was impossible. It’s the type of perfume you have to try before buying because I think you either love it or hate it. Taste is subjective but definitely it’s a NO for me.

  • saramurvi

It feels like a work of art. It has great similarity to the original Alien especially in the first few minutes where the jasmine is sharper and more noticeable but as it dries down it becomes warmer with vanilla amber incense and myrrh taking the lead without losing the original’s DNA. I can see myself wearing it on a very cold winter day with a scarf in a cabin or in the mountains near a fire. The scent of incense and myrrh transports me to that winter scene. It’s cozier and warmer than the original; whereas I see the latter as versatile for any season I don’t see Alien Essence Absolue that way. The original seems more versatile. If you like the original Alien vanilla and incense I recommend it with my eyes closed. It’s discontinued but can still be found on some websites or second-hand pages. I bought it blind and it was a total success. It’s spectacular and I love it.

  • This is a perfume with very high-quality intense and warm jasmine balanced by an elegant slightly sweet vanilla accompanied by an amber that makes it creamy and seductive. Along with lily root and myrrh it turns it into a unique perfume worth getting. I don’t detect incense or cashmere on my skin. The trail is heavy longevity is over 10 hours it’s unisex suitable for any season though its sensuality makes it tempting more for cold and nightwear. A blind buy that was a hit and I’d definitely do it again.

  • Reina Amigdala

Everything said about this fragrance is true. I say this because at least in my country it has become mythical among perfume lovers. It’s hard to find but everyone says it smells exquisite. And it does; it’s an elixir an olfactory delight. Similar to traditional Alien because you can perceive those characteristic jasmines but with a high dose of resins and vanilla. As time passes the sweetness of the vanilla and the amber notes intensify pushing the florals aside. It has eternal longevity and moderate projection.

  • Alien Essence Absolue Intense is a good fragrance very similar to the original Alien but with vanilla. If I had heard about this one first I wouldn’t have bought it because you don’t really get the incense or myrrh; it’s just the Alien jasmine with vanilla. To be honest I prefer the original! I paid over €200 and have better perfumes in my collection. In my opinion we idealize it because it’s discontinued. It’s a good perfume but if I have to pay that much I’d prefer many others. This is Alien: buy a vanilla and two sprays of Alien on one side and two more of a good vanilla like Kayali 28 and it works better.

  • SeekerofHugs

Sometimes it feels like they discontinue or reformulate the best perfumes which is a shame. This is my favorite Mugler along with Angel Muse; if I had to keep only 10 these two would be on the list. Alien Essence Absolue is very similar to Alien but warmer sweeter and more oriental. That otherworldly jasmine blends with cashmere wood amber myrrh and vanilla. Over time the jasmine steps back letting the amber and an enveloping wonderful vanilla take center stage. I detect a hint of anise probably from the blend. It’s intoxicating sexy powerful feminine and luminous—just as pleasant and warm as a hug on a cold day. It has a beautiful evolution lasts forever and has moderate sillage (though I have the reformulated version). I really hope they bring it back as a special edition; I’d buy it again in a heartbeat. It’s heartbreaking to see it fade into obscurity. P.S.: If you love it I recommend Federico Mahora’s equivalent. It smells identical lasts over 10 hours and is my alternative since it’s no longer worth paying the astronomical prices.

  • I don’t know if it’s the humidity in my country, Argentina, but I don’t feel it projects much; however, it fixes very well, and you can definitely feel the quality of the perfume, especially the vanilla, which is very, very natural and exquisite. But I’m not a vanilla fan, and for me, it’s not worth the price they ask. It’s a special perfume, but it didn’t touch my heart.

  • AresGoodess

I got a sample of this perfume and thought they must have made a mistake because I thought it was Alien, which I hate. But then I started smelling a background vanilla, which with the Alien jasmine that I detest so much, turns out gorgeous. I do sense a bit of myrrh and incense. It evokes a sunny but cold autumn day 🍂☀️💜

  • Is it worth all the hype? In my opinion, yes. And I firmly believe that the best Alien flankers are all discontinued. If you know the original, I think describing this perfume is fairly easy. Imagine that but in a softer, velvety version, and at the same time with an overdose of refined, balsamic vanilla. Contrary to what some think, for me, this is less opulent and polarizing than the original. Outstanding performance. If you still have the option to try it… run. You won’t regret it.

  • anamaestracorreo

I managed to get this sealed relic almost by luck. Personally, the regular Alien makes me much happier. They only differ in the type of jasmine. This perfume takes a different path that might not appeal to everyone, and possibly that’s why it was discontinued. It has a very marked balsamic aspect and is slightly smoky. The regular Alien conquers much more. The hype created around some discontinued scents is incredible. In this case, it smells good, it’s good, it’s different from the common stuff… But to me, it projects less and doesn’t last as long as its sibling. And without going further, Goddess Intense seems even more intense to me. That’s all. It’s not worth creating such anxiety over this perfume. If you have the first Alien, I say you’ll be equally satisfied even without the Essence. If you’re a collector freak, okay, but other scents make me happier than this one’s aroma. Edit: In its dry down, it has a PlayDoh-like vanilla, similar to Hypnotic Poison.

  • nataliedrm

I gave this beauty a 200; it has become one of my favorites. And honestly, whenever I try to write about my beloved perfumes, words fail me. I’ll just say this was the first perfume I decided to buy based on a YouTube review (from creators who have been doing this for years and know their stuff, unlike all the others who just sell you trendy little scents), and her recommendation couldn’t have been more spot on. What a wonderful, perfect perfume that intoxicates you and lasts forever. An ambered jasmine with that vanilla touch and the elegance of cashmere. WOW. My favorite of all Mugler by far, and in my entire life, definitely in the top 10. It’s a shame it was discontinued; seriously, I’ll never understand how they pull sublime beauties off the shelves and then replace them with something like Alien Goddess, which is a joke with zero longevity. The perfume world can be so unfair sometimes.

  • VainillaDulce

Not seeing Alien Essence Absolue in perfumeries fills me with nostalgia; I long for that beautiful perfume that feels like magic potion. I consider it a true beauty and don’t understand why it lasted so short a time on the market. This is the most sensual and warm version of all Alien flankers. Between every woven accord lies its spirit, but here its resinous and creamy notes shine. When you spray it, the first thing that invades you is a spiced sensation with a slight medicinal nuance, which, as it melds with the skin, transforms into an unprecedented opulence. The jasmine is strikingly prominent, and as seconds pass, it’s embraced by cashmere wood moistened by a thick, sweet syrup of macerated vanilla, myrrh, frankincense, and amber. Alien Essence Absolue gives more than a fragrance to spray; it feels like a luxurious, heavily perfumed cream ready to be gently rubbed onto your skin. It embraces you, comforts you, caresses you. This fragrance forces you to dress well, to wear it with pride on those cold days and nights charged with elegance and sensuality. Its longevity is enormous, over 12 hours, with a trail going from intense to moderate. I think this perfume is the perfect match for freezing days; if you see it, catch it and treasure it.

  • Espartaco

It’s the same Alien as always with a very evident honey note. The projection and longevity are excellent, just like the original. Adding those woody, balsamic floral notes with a touch of non-gourmand honeyed sweetness, it’s no wonder many women are hooked on this flanker. It’s not complex or novel, just Alien with a caramel-honey hint. Totally unisex as usual, it lasts forever, shines bright, and adds the detail of balsamic, honeyed myrrh. Not much more to say.

  • The best Alien flanker ever. It’s so sad they discontinued it… PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!! 😭

  • Sophie Kortig

I absolutely love this perfume: the fragrance is soft yet long-lasting, perfect for any occasion. I always get compliments whenever I wear it.

  • Alien Essence Absolue gives me pure happiness nerves. It’s such a lush, enveloping jasmine that I’d choose it above everything else. It’s a shame they discontinued it; those divine perfumes make me so happy. Thanks to Señora Border, I found an inspiration I adore. Please, recreate this delicious, creamy, enveloping scent again—a creamy jasmine that I’m dying for.
