This is the most beautiful thing I’ve smelled in the last few months of blind buys. Charming. I was afraid to buy it thinking it might smell too vintage and not please me, but it was a huge surprise. This is an affordable jewel!!! What a delight, it’s so, so delicious 😍. I feel happy and satisfied with this fragrance. Wow, Elizabeth Arden has jewels!!!
I just bought it, and it’s not quite what I remembered. It’s a sober, distinguished perfume; for me, it has no age. I liked it at 17 just as much as I do now, although I remember it as more intense. A jewel that never goes out of style.
I keep coming back to it. One of my old-school favorites, a staple. Like almost 100% of my perfumes, I detect the lily of the valley and carnation, which I’m passionate about. Elegant and feminine to death, in my opinion, and given the price, I think it’s very high quality, performing fantastically in trail and longevity. Along with Splendor, it’s the only thing I can tolerate in the middle of summer when I go out at night. The rest of the year, my hand goes to it automatically for any occasion. Extremely versatile. As I’ve been able to verify, however, it’s a whole different world on every skin. On me, it has the honor of being the first fragrance I identified with.
Very floral, cloying.
Characteristic scent, elegant. Unfortunately, it broke in my closet, and that’s when I detected its longevity. It’s a classic.
Elizabeth Arden Fifth Avenue, a beautiful and charming floral bouquet.
This perfume is very long-lasting on my skin, few can match it. It’s sweet but pleasant. It’s been around for years, but I consider it timeless. One of my favorites.
Timeless and legendary. I still have half the contents of a small bottle from the early years. Back then, it seemed a bit cloying and dense, though elegant and super long-lasting. Now I’m returning to it; years have passed, and I expected that complex, elaborate formula to captivate me again. So different from today’s perfumes, with consistency and body, well-blended notes forming an original design. Now I use a light spray over Only Fifth Avenue NYC. The masterpiece enhances the second fragrance, creating together a sophisticated elixir. When this runs out, I’ll miss it as much as all those glorious ones from that era.
I’ve known about this one for a while (around age 14, an aunt used it at the office). It wasn’t my first fragrance, but I’ve worn it since I was 22. My choice for the office because it’s so… correct. I’m still wearing it at almost 32… at the office, at home, or whenever I need a scent to cut through stronger or gourmand fragrances. The jasmine note stands out the most on my skin; it’s a classic, always in my vanity ❤️ Edit: forgot to mention, it’s a waste to use it on cold days (white florals just don’t work for me in the cold 😅). Better to enjoy this classic on warmer days, without extreme heat.
It’s my signature fragrance. It came to me as an inheritance when my grandmother passed away (who was a great collector), and I fell in love at first sight. It’s sensual but elegant; I associate it with an empowered woman, very different from the candy-like perfumes sold today. In my work environment, it causes a stir; there isn’t a week that goes by without someone complimenting my perfume. Men love it a lot. On me, the trail is moderate, but the longevity is all day. It’s used perfectly in summer, without trying too hard. It’s not for teenagers; I started wearing it in my mid-30s, and I think it’s perfect from that age group onwards.
One of the old-school perfumery monsters… The opening is brutal, packed with neroli, jasmine, and magnolia, supported by vanilla, rose, and a variety of florals. This lasts at least 2-3 hours without losing intensity or trail, which in my case stretches over 2 meters. Then it settles; the woods add depth, but it remains a sweet, juicy floral for another 10-12 hours. That’s when the citrus really shines through until the very end. In my case, I’m sure it lasts more than 24 hours. Why do I call it a monster? Obviously because of its sheer size. It’s clearly a perfume made the old-fashioned way, with EA quality. I tried it yesterday after years and they haven’t changed a thing!!!
My favorite perfume, it has no rival. It’s the only one I repeat over and over again and I’ve never found a moment where it doesn’t fit. It seems like pure elegance, without being loud, but not shy either. It’s perfect. I thought Prada La Femme would surpass it, but it didn’t. I try and try, and this is my perfume. So far, only very different ones have taken the spotlight from my choices. Almost all the perfumes I adore have a bit of something flashy, but this is just right. The day they discontinue it, I’ll be heartbroken.
It’s a fragrance I love, soft, floral, and sweet but with just the right balance. I bought it recently thinking of the one I used in the 2000s, but they reformulated it; it seems more like an EDT than an EDP. It already has a softer trail and lasts much less on skin. Such a pity.
This perfume was part of my adolescence. It was very elegant for my age back then, and I still used it. What lovely memories.
🌼🍁 POST-REMEMBRANCE of this perfume from my beloved and recovered (haha) 5th Avenue by E. Arden. Just yesterday I was chatting with someone and told them that in the neighborhood where I grew up in CABA, it was full of linden trees, and I always dreamed of a perfume like that for those fragrant afternoons; in fact, I already thought about planting one in my country house, something unthinkable before in my apartment 🤣🤣. And the next day, this one arrives. Yesterday I had to go to work, and as always, when putting on something new, I looked for the notes and there was LINDEN! Especially right after spraying it. For me, it’s mostly green. But more than a perfume I wear, it’s the one my mother used to go to the orchestra with, and it’s “elegant” because it lacks (for me) any sensual or sexy touch; it’s elegant, period. And that I love for work. It evokes brightness in a city like NY 🍂. Smelling it is smelling my mother’s curls when she went to rehearsals 🎻 at the Teatro Roma in Avellaneda. Elegance, and if I had to say what it represents in a phrase: the working woman.
I’ve had a 10ml mini for ten years and it still smells the same. I only used half of it because something didn’t quite convince me. Today I tested it again: I like it. It smells clean, unique, and sophisticated, yet soft, which is probably why I left it untouched for so long. It feels great on the skin. I won’t use it up until I buy a larger bottle; I want to keep it in my collection but use it like the others. Yes, I recommend it despite the lack of sillage because it’s timeless, rich, and elegant. A classic I’ll be integrating permanently.
Elizabeth Arden started as the ‘Red Door’ salon on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. That street is iconic, not just as a shopping and runway hub, but for its museums and film locations that define modern urban culture. According to Wikipedia, Arden targeted middle-aged women who felt unattractive, promising youth and beauty. This helps explain Gottlieb’s intent behind creating 5th Avenue in the 90s, a complex decade marked by low birth rates, single-parent households, individualism, and women fighting for power. How do you blend elegance, maturity, and independence into a scent? I’m not sure I achieved it entirely, but it’s an urban aroma with subtle flowers, designed to add charm and sophistication to the workplace without losing professionalism. Far from pretentious, it’s emblematic of its era; perhaps anachronistic today, but it remains a great option for women who want to look beautiful, dynamic, and executive.
I didn’t expect a powerhouse for the price, and I’m grateful for that, but I also didn’t expect to dislike it. I was hoping for something fresh, wearable, citrusy with white flowers that others love… for me, it smells like insecticide on the skin. Luckily, it doesn’t have much of a sillage; I bought 30ml and I’m glad I did. It seemed pleasant in the store upon testing, the opening is acceptable, but after sniffing several at once, my nose got confused. Immediately, it became unbearable. It should be applied once and then you head out for a walk. Haha.
Is this the scent of sophistication? Every time I see it, I’m reminded of a cosmopolitan city in autumn. Elegant and delicate; my mom gifted me the bottle, and since she prefers powerful perfumes, she found this too simple. It’s floral with a citrusy opening and spicy undertones. What defines it is its moderation: not too floral, not overly sweet, just good taste. It could have walked a 90s runway or fit right in on Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment.
It’s floral, with a bright, expansive lily of the valley. Perfect for gifting to safe-commitment recipients or keeping in your closet: discreet and never intrusive. Very friendly for when you want to stay calm without taking risks, like that correct ‘B’ grade that doesn’t give much satisfaction. Safe for gifting if you don’t know someone’s taste, similar to Tous or Gabrielle.
The ultimate classic. It has no age, always exuding elegance without being heavy or dated. The ideal perfume. Wish the sillage was stronger.
A well-rounded, timeless, and exquisite aroma, but with minimal longevity and no projection. The quality is questionable, and the bottle is also very poorly made. Such a shame given how good it smells.
This perfume reminds me of my childhood in the 90s. I didn’t know it belonged to the famous Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue line; I tried it out of curiosity and was amazed. It smells delicious and subtle, delicate and soft like flower dew. I thought it would be a heavy floral bomb given the notes, but it’s very balanced. I love vintage perfumes; it was great in cold weather, and I’d definitely buy it again. It’s an ageless scent, perfect for young girls or mature women. It looks super good for a romantic date, a pleasant aroma for a male nose too 🤭. Don’t be afraid to pick it up; you’ll love it and won’t regret it.
A floral, fresh, elegant fragrance with personality but wearable and versatile. A beauty that doesn’t lose its sensuality or femininity. I wear it anytime, anywhere; it’s not heavy and very flattering. On my skin, it has moderate projection and lasts 5 hours. Nothing an aroma this beautiful can’t solve with a quick reapplication to carry you through the day. Simply a beautiful scent.
I was surprised by the poor quality of the bottle. For a fragrance that has survived the test of time, they should care more about those details. The scent isn’t striking at all, the longevity is minimal, and there’s no projection. I don’t recommend it.
White and yellow floral, fresh and sweet. Very easy to wear. If you like perfumes like Anaïs, Don Algodón, or Organza, you’ll definitely love this. I wear it to sleep. It has a soapy, clean touch typical of older perfumes. I’m glad it’s still available.
This is my 68-year-old mom’s go-to fragrance. It’s floral, simple, and a bit synthetic, but understandable given its affordable price. It’s a 1996 classic that doesn’t stand out as much today, though it saves the day in a pinch. It’s versatile, though it leans formal. Better for daytime than nighttime, though to be fair, it works for almost any occasion. A solid first step on your perfume journey.
This was my first designer perfume at 16, a gift from my aunt. I fell in love with it and still do; it brings back beautiful memories. It’s super floral and elegant, giving off vibes of a classy older lady.
It smells like expensive soap to me, clean and elegant. I bought it for my transition from youth to adulthood and it was a hit. I love wearing it daily. On my skin, it lasts about two hours, but maybe that’s due to my activities; I retouched it when I got home and I could still smell it five hours later.
I love it; I’m waiting to buy it again, and the price is great too.
To me, this is a timeless fragrance—the absolute best of the best. ❤️🩹
I tried it years ago and forgot how good it smelled until I tried it again and had to buy it. It’s very pleasant, elegant, for everyday wear, and timeless. I don’t see it on young girls.
It’s May 2025 and at forty, I’ve gotten sentimental; I don’t usually repeat perfumes, but since modern ones are lacking in quality, scent, sillage, and longevity, I’m returning to the classics. I bought this in 2017/2018—it’s a sweet floral with excellent longevity and sillage.
So many promised notes, but in the end, it smells like old body cream. I never owned it, but my mom did, so I know exactly what it smells like. It’s soft, subtle, and vintage.
I love it. It’s delicious. I hadn’t bought it in years, but now that I have it, I use it daily. It’s a masterpiece.
Stunning, light, natural, and fresh. Smells like a bouquet of flowers in spring. The downside is that it doesn’t last at all, and with the excuse of allergies, its tenacity is getting weaker and weaker. What a pity. Despite the proliferation of perfumes today, few are so well-balanced. It no longer lasts and is expensive for what it offers, but it’s beautiful. If they improve the longevity, I’ll buy it even if the price goes up.
If someone asks me what the most feminine woman smells like, I answer without hesitation: 5th Avenue. A charming scent for charming women. Longevity and sillage are moderate.
Beautiful, my spring classic. A sweet, realistic floral that smells like a garden or a clean stream. On me, the muguet dominates with rose and neroli in the background. At first, it brought me joy and didn’t feel urban, but rather a natural, candid cocktail. Gradually, I discovered its elegance thanks to the amber and sandalwood—a class that modern perfumery has lost. It lasts long and projects well, and although my bottle is old, the brand remains accessible. Highly recommended if you like sweet, natural, classic florals.
Fresh and floral, pleasant but a bit sharp with a vintage touch that works well. Projection and trail are scarce. It’s an easy floral, nothing memorable, but a good gift for anyone who loves feminine fragrances—accessible and dispensable.
Just bought it with high hopes, but I still can’t quite decipher it. Of the listed notes, I only detect linden and valley lily at the start, nothing in the heart, and maybe a hint of musk at the end. I expected more punch since it’s a vintage scent with neroli dominating like magnolia, but after multiple sprays, I detect nothing else. It feels weak in projection and trail, though I hope it improves with heat. For now, I wouldn’t recommend it blindly 🙁
