I knew nothing about styrax and at first it smelled like smoky myrrh that I didn’t care for much, but like many Guerlains from this line, the scent takes a spectacular turn. That Guerlain magic appears—a powdery touch mixed with two of my favorite notes: vanilla and tonka bean. Sometimes it even smells like violets, even though they’re not listed on Fragrantica. It’s not a blind buy because it doesn’t love you at first glance, but it has exquisite nuances that you enjoy in every phase.
