I just tried it, and unlike the classic version which I find too heavy, this flanker I like a lot. I didn’t think a Black Opium would suit me, but I actually love it ❣️ It has everything I like about Black Opium, without the part that overwhelms me 🪷 It’s going into my collection.
Juicy, rich cherry… b-u-t-t-t-t-t it turned into a kids’ syrup after that, although it passes quickly. After 2 hours on my wrist, I can’t smell it anymore. Very skin-scent with that classic DNA, but very soft, almost imperceptible.
I went to try it and I loved it, literally. When it comes out, it’s a fresh, juicy cherry, then it changes and smells exactly like a grenadine soda; the coffee is barely felt, which I liked, and it has a soft vanilla. On my skin, it lasted about 7 hours, on clothes, days! I really think I’ll keep it in my collection 😍
Mine barely feels anything; I sprayed it several times and the scent has no power. I’m going to leave it for a while, hoping it improves. That really disappointed me. The scent is sweet and vanilla-like, but nothing more. I wouldn’t recommend buying it.
To me, it smells like dark chocolate with cherry, even though it doesn’t have a cocoa note… at first sniff, it smells exactly like that, and at the start, I like it more than the Demeter chocolate with cherry. Of course, it’s still clear that it’s a sibling of Black Opium and one of those very close siblings… honestly, it’s nothing new… it reminds me a lot of one from Zara and even in its dry down, it reminds me of Ellie Saab Gone. So if you already have the aforementioned one or even the classic B Op, you’ll get the same thing by purchasing this. It’s for very cold weather… the cherry note can be tiring, and given its price, I recommend smelling it before buying… now, if you’re a mega fan of the cherry note like me… then yes, go for it.
I’ve been testing this perfume for several days, and although I’m not a huge fan of cherry, I ended up buying it. It seems super elegant; it’s not as sharp as this note usually is in perfumery. I love the dry down with its well-complemented coffee and vanilla. It’s true that it doesn’t have a powerful longevity or trail, but I feel it’s perfect to wear early when you’re going to work.
It smells exactly like coffee. At first, you notice the cherry and a sweet touch, but a few minutes later it turns into a very sweet coffee scent with vanilla. It’s not for daily wear, but more for the night, in winter or autumn. I absolutely love it for special occasions because it’s very sensual. I know it doesn’t suit all skin types equally, but believe me, everyone will notice the intensity of the coffee and vanilla.
I tried it at a perfume store; it was my first time entering, and I controlled myself to test only 5 fragrances and give them their time. Here in Argentina, we’re just before summer, so it’s very hot… To keep this short, the perfume is rich, but the longevity is terrible for a winter fragrance. I have Black Opium Extreme, a bomb… like all the flankers… they’re all bombs, but only at first spray… after 2 hours, if you don’t reapply, it evaporates. Rich, but it doesn’t pay off in longevity.
At first, I get an intense cherry note, not overwhelming. But a few minutes later, I notice a very strong vanilla and a synthetic patchouli, recalling the DNA of the original Black Opium. This fragrance smells like a bakery, extremely sweet and edible. If you love gourmands, you’ll love it because it smells like something totally edible. Definitely for special nighttime occasions. I’ve had different Black Opium flankers for years, but I’m not interested in buying this one because it doesn’t feel balanced to me.
I liked it quite a bit because its moderate intensity doesn’t tire me out like other YSL perfumes. At first it smells like brandied cherry that softens to highlight the coffee and vanilla. It’s very pleasant. A tip: spray it on the back of your neck so it touches the back of your hair; then the hair smells and when people greet you, it’s noticeable. Also spray behind the ears and sometimes on clothes.
I love it, it’s super original. At first it seems like cherry liqueur, and by the hour it’s like the Black Opium DNA but softer and creamier. I’d describe it as a mocha with cream and maraschino cherry, or a black forest. Thanks to the black tea note, it becomes interesting and intriguing, not just a sweet gourmand. I bought it. Wish it had more trail after two hours. It lasts days on clothes, but by five o’clock you have to press your nose right against it. Scent: 10/10 Trail: 4/10 Longevity: 6/10 Bottle: 10/10
I tried it today and honestly, it left me indifferent. It smells very much like the original Black Opium: the artificial coffee note is there, but what stands out most is the cherry, jasmine, and vanilla. Nothing feels natural, which I dislike because it leaves a bitter scent. The good thing is that the bottle is gorgeous in the light and has a notable trail. The longevity is over 12 hours on my skin (even after showering) and it lasts all day.
I was a bit disappointed; the longevity was short and the cherry barely shows up. It feels dusty and aged, nothing juicy or youthful, and of course, the rest is the Black Opium DNA. Strangely, my husband liked it a lot, but it left me wanting more.
A friend gifted me a decant in a store and I loved it. I couldn’t resist buying it; that sweet vanilla, the darkness of the coffee, and the vibrant cherry fascinated me. It has a more energetic touch than the original, and I detect a hint of almond. The longevity is good and the trail is moderate. People tell me it’s elegant but youthful. I use it during the day and for work, although it’s more of a night scent.
A delicious blend of the creamy coffee from Black Opium with a very sweet cherry.
What a beautiful perfume; it keeps the DNA of the original but is much more gourmand. It lasts a long time on my skin; the cherry is more noticeable if you smell it directly on the skin than in the trail. I simply love it.
Oh, what a horror. It smells like Vick’s syrup, just like the Tom Ford cherry ones. Saying it resembles Lancôme’s La Nuit Trésor Intense is a sin. If you like cloying cherry aromas to wear only in winter, go ahead.
I tried it and it seems super versatile; in spring or mild summers, with a few sprays, it’s perfect. It feels distant from the original and I’ve really liked it.
The opening reminds me of a moist, sweet Black Forest cake. Unfortunately, I don’t like that cake, and neither does this perfume 🙁
It smells like brandied cherry at first, but it’s hard to find one that doesn’t sound like liquor. Then it turns patchouli-like and smells like hidden tobacco; it’s heavy and old, not for me.
I started with high hopes, but the initial cherry is brutal, like a very strong liquor. Even though I like sweets, this seemed cloying to me. After a while, the scent is exquisite and reveals the original Black Opium. The trail is potent at first but fades quickly. I prefer mixing it with other more durable red fruits.
A delight.
I had huge expectations for this over-hyped perfume, and nooo, it doesn’t smell like cherry. I didn’t detect any coffee notes at all. It overwhelmed me with the scent, maybe I’ll give it another shot in winter, but for now, no.
The best description is cherry cola. At first, it smells like Dr Pepper soda with cherry identical to those bottles. Once it dries down, the regular Black Opium appears with subtle vanilla and coffee (gives me vanilla coffee bubblegum vibes). I love the vibe, I keep it for special night outs. It’s a pity the projection and longevity are bad; you have to apply a lot to make it last a bit. It’s pricey because it’s new, but I think it’s the best Black Opium alongside Le Parfum. It’s perfect for a night fragrance, super sexy, but not for daytime. Definitely not for anyone looking for something youthful or girly; it’s more mature and sensual, yet exquisite for Black Opium lovers.
I was really eager to try it. I thought it would be a cherry beast like Black Opium (which I can’t stand), but nothing like that. It smells like synthetic cherry, plastic, or a cheap doll. It doesn’t last even 4 hours and the sillage is extremely low.
It smells like super artificial cherry, literally a cherry soda, potent and not fruity at all. The vanilla and coffee don’t blend and it smells cheap. It’s not terrible, but I don’t like it; it smells like a 45-year-old woman or an aspirational thirty-something, that classic lady scent who complains about everything. The price is high, the sillage is moderate, and the longevity is average. 1/10.
If you’re looking to smell like cherry candy, this is gorgeous. I was pleasantly surprised: the opening takes me back to old candy stores, that mix with slightly boozy cherries. It has nothing to do with the original Black Opium, just a faint coffee hint at the end. For me, it’s an 8/10 and lasts about 6 hours.
As a huge fan of Tom Ford’s Lost Cherry, I’d say here the cherry doesn’t rule; vanilla is the star. It’s rich and perfect for feeling cozy in winter.
Starts super soft. Once it dries down, you get vanilla, coffee, and a cherry note that intensifies until it reminds me of Mayar Cherry Intense, but with way less projection. I wouldn’t buy it.
Black Opium doesn’t kill me, but this one is the king of the family. It smells like pure Mon Chéri: dense coffee, vanilla, and sweet cherries. Lasts forever on the skin and the quality is top-notch.
One of my favorite perfumes; the first time I smelled it, I FELL IN LOVE and it’s no wonder… it’s a magic potion and a compliment magnet; you put it on and you’re magnetic. I’ve never been especially a fan of the original Black Opium DNA, but the cherry in the Over Red changes it completely; it’s addictive, a super sexy and dark perfume but without losing that characteristic sweet spot (although I emphasize that it’s a more ‘natural’ cherry than other cherry perfumes, almost syrupy or so my nose perceives it, probably due to the patchouli and coffee mix. It’s not like a sugary candy). Longevity and sillage could be much better; it’s a shame. On clothes, it leaves a weak trace from one day to the next, but on skin, it disappears relatively quickly. Regardless, it’s so incredibly delicious it’s worth it 100%; there are few fragrances that make me lose my mind the same way this one does.
It’s my favorite winter perfume; since I applied it, even on clothes, the scent gets impregnated; you feel the cherry in the opening when you apply the perfume and the coffee along with the vanilla as time passes; in fact, that’s the scent that remains on my garments; it’s exquisite and sweet.
When it first came out, I remember trying it at a Sephora… and while it didn’t disgust me, it didn’t fascinate me either; I felt a very light cherry 🍒 and the typical sweet BO DNA… However, as a good fan of the note, I wanted it in my collection. Time passed, and recently I saw it was on a great deal, and worse still; running out… so I decided to get a 90ml bottle… Wow friends, I sprayed it in the morning and what a beautiful perfume, it’s a super intense cherry, I won’t say natural, of course not, it smells somewhat synthetic and a bit like a cherry from a palette, but it comes accompanied by a vanilla so, so creamy and beautiful (I couldn’t expect less from a Madagascar vanilla), that it seriously blew my senses and made me NOT regret my impulse buy. Definitely one of the BO flankers, one of the most original and beautiful, the cherry with that exquisite vanilla lasts a while and then comes that rich milk coffee note this line has. Definitely a win. Get a bottle, because you know… within 3 years of launch, these flankers start to run out. BEAUTIFUL!!!
I refused to like a BO, I find them repetitive, although I admit they smell good, so I didn’t want to give the Over Red a chance, until one day I was bored at the airport and tried it; since then, it’s my favorite, along with BG Burberry. BO Over Red has that aroma you don’t want to stop smelling, addictive and super sexy; I think it’s a perfume for all seasons, but yes, always for night. I wish it lasted a bit more; it doesn’t have bad sillage or longevity, but I’d like to enjoy it more and have it be a little more invasive.
What a perfume! In my fledgling collection, it’s one of my top three favorites. Why? Because it’s deep, mysterious. I already have another cherry-topped perfume (which has its things), but look at this one below. In the opening, a mystical dark cherry liquor hits you with an olfactory punch. Clearly, the Black Opium DNA is present, that is: coffee. And one might ask: Does coffee go with cherry? Of course it does! And in what a way! Both notes seem like a couple of lovers intertwining in a continuous embrace. The longevity is interesting (even on my horrendous dry skin) and the projection is respectable too. The catchable part is that as time passes, a jasmine appears saying ‘hey, here I am’ and transforms into the companion to this eternal kiss of syrupy cherry and coffee. Not in vain, this great perfume is heading to be the vice champion of female fragrances of 2025!
I think it’s a wonderful perfume; when you smell it, you imagine a nighttime scene, but as it dries down, you realize it works for day too, so I’d reserve it for its peculiarity for special events. The description starts with that playful cherry, which I love… it smells like a party frozen lollipop but with a bit of liquor, then it’s like they added chocolate, and finally a matcha, so it would be a cacao matcha with cherry… I feel the cherry all the time. Something happened to me, and it’s that in my collection I have the Lancome Nuit Tresor La Fleur, and they seem super similar, but the latter without the cherry. I love it, I’d give it an 8/10.
I ordered it based on the reviews from the Royals… it smells good, like cherry and a bit of vanilla, doesn’t project much or leave a trail, not invasive at all. I use it daily, but the ‘femme fatale’ vibe I’d heard about doesn’t really come through for me; it’s fine for day-to-day, but I won’t be restocking it, I was expecting something more.
The longevity on my skin is insane; my pH isn’t the best and I’ve always had issues with longevity and projection. When applied, it smells super delicious, reminding me a bit of Nuit Tresor Intense (which was discontinued in Argentina, I don’t know why). It smells like cherry, like a marasca or a guava cherry, I LOVE IT, it’s not cloying and is super aromatic. Coffee is the second note to settle and lasts almost all day; one of the most delicious fragrances I’ve tried. You can tell the perfumers did their job; for me, these are the ones that don’t fail if you buy them blind. That same day I tried TF’s Lost Cherry and it has some similarity (another delicious one if you like cherry). Anyway, a cherry perfume for CarliCherry 🍒
Out of the entire Opium range, this is my favorite. I love the cherry-topped opening with a slight acidic edge; it’s the best perfume with this note I’ve tried so far. 🥰 On my skin, it becomes more enveloping and dark, fitting my style perfectly. Although the pyramid lists coffee, patchouli, and vanilla, on my skin it turns very gourmand, leaving an almond-like accord, even if they don’t specify it. 🤷♀️ Still, I think it’s gorgeous, ideal for night or winter. Given my low tolerance for gourmand scents, I doubt I’ll buy the full bottle, but it’s certainly a great perfume.
I was looking for something dominated by cherry, and this isn’t it, haha. I love the DNA of the line for that floral vanilla I’ve used and enjoyed so much before. I wanted to see how the cherry would come in, and honestly, it does give a bright fruity touch, though it doesn’t last long before returning to the classic DNA. Obviously, I expected more cherry, but those were just my high expectations, haha; still, I enjoyed the full decant. Fresh, acidic, and bright opening, I liked the change, but in the end, we’re left with the same DNA as always.
