This is an absolute disgrace… I’d call it Valentino Born Yesterday, because you’d have to be born yesterday to think this is anything new. This bottle is literally ‘Born Yesterday: Yellow Face’—that’s the look on the buyer’s face (I went pale after testing a free sample…). Since Valentino moved to L’Oréal, it went from exclusive to just another dispenser of vulgar clones. Born in Roma is a clone of Invictus, and this yellowish one is a clone of One Million with two exclamation points. You can’t get any lower; they’re cloning Paco Rabanne and its most infamous scents. The fancy Italian name is just a lie. It’s a new concept: the clone sells for more than the original, which is revolutionary. L’Oréal is poisonous, and I’m terrified to think what they’ll do to my Prada. I have a bottle of Intense saved for the long night. My conclusion is that their goal is to destroy the best iris scents on the market, and they’re doing it. In the end, we’ll be left with only Dior, but Dior smells heavier to me—not that iris Valentino had and Prada still has. I’m laughing thinking that at Valentino’s gala events, guests will wear expensive clothes smelling like Invictus and One Million. Everyone gets what they want, but L’Oréal is headed straight to the rat circle of hell.
If these are Valentino’s intentions, they might as well just stock their old creations in a drawer. With such a lack of ideas, they shouldn’t even release anything, yet they’ll fool unsuspecting buyers with the bottle and the name. You expect more when you look at the olfactory pyramid, but it smells like a thousand other perfumes. There’s no novelty at all—nothing in that sweet fruity Invictus-style current that evolves into an Armani Code Absolu with conventional scents. It’s just a boring, dispensable chemical hit. There’s no reason to buy it. Yellow Dream doesn’t spark anything; just buy something similar to the original Invictus. It lacks any argument for anyone with a sane mind to purchase it. I can’t say L’Oréal has clear ideas, and Valentino risks losing its charisma.
Another Invictus-inspired scent? What’s the difference from regular Born in Roma? Disappointing fragrance, barely any pineapple… what’s going to be enjoyable? Yes, what are you going to be surprised by? No… Want to smell like Invictus? Just buy Invictus.
A bit like a clone of Invictus with hints of Stronger With You. It smells good, but two hours of longevity is just acceptable for a cheap citrus scent. At 50€ for 100ml, this is a guaranteed sales flop.
Valentino Uomo Born in Roma Yellow Dream—what a long name. It’s fruity, sweet, and aromatic. The opening smells like pineapple ice cream: fruity and creamy. It seems fresh, but the sweetness builds over time, adding spices and a hint of coconut that sometimes reminds me of a piña colada. After that, nothing changes. It’s totally different from the original Uomo line; if they’d released it without that name, no one would care. It smells almost unisex and will appeal to a younger crowd (though I didn’t dislike it), reminiscent of Paco Rabanne’s Phantom. While the oriental notes last long, this one falls short, reaching about 6 hours with little projection. My advice: try it and draw your own conclusions.
At first, notes of tangerine, pineapple, and ginger stand out… over time they fade and other notes emerge, though the pineapple remains noticeable at the end. Excellent for tropical, hot, and semi-humid climates.
Valentino Uomo Born in Roma Yellow Dream, what a long name. It’s a fruity, sweet, and aromatic fragrance. At first, it smells like pineapple ice cream—very fresh yet creamy. It seems fresh at first, but the sweetness grows over time, adding spices and a hint of coconut that reminds me of a piña colada. After that, I don’t notice any more changes. It strays far from the original Uomo line (Noire and Intense); it’s totally different. If they had launched it without the Valentino name, no one would have said anything. I feel it’s almost unisex and think it suits a younger crowd better (though it didn’t disgust me). It fits the style of Paco Rabanne’s Phantom—sweet, fruity, and aromatic. While oriental scents usually last longer, this one is short-lived, lasting about 6 hours with almost no projection. My advice: give it a try and draw your own conclusions.
Very similar to Stronger With You, closer to the Freeze version. Be careful in warm weather; it turns cloying and overwhelming. Lasting power and projection are notable—8 hours without issues, you can feel the bursts all day. If you like sweet scents, it’s a great option. The citrus fades quickly, just the opening lasts about 5 minutes; the rest is sweet and gets sweeter.
It’s just bread and lemon, sharing elements with those cloying, personality-free scents flooding the market. Does it smell nice? Yes, but not for a high-end fashion house. Thinking of creations like Vendetta makes me frown at how ugly their fragrances have become.
The Born in Roma line doesn’t hook me; they smell rich but synthetic and don’t stand out. I tried Yellow and wouldn’t pay full price for it—it adds nothing new, and there are better options in that style. Still, it’s rich and works if you don’t want to overthink it and need something for cold weather. It’s acceptable.
It’s a mentholated smell with something like dried plum. Wow!!! none of that is in the olfactive pyramid!!! But that’s what I smell right after putting it on. Note!, it’s a nice smell and can be perfectly unisex. After five minutes, that mentholated smell continues or… balsamic but a slightly sharper note stands out that, in my opinion, makes it lose the originality it had. Then, in its dry down, everything gets more mixed and woody, but… that note is still there and doesn’t let me round out the perfume, maybe it’s the ginger, I don’t know.
ITS SCENT IS CEDAR AND SPICES WITH CITRICS, NOTHING OF PINEAPPLE AND GINGERBREAD, IT’S COMMON LIKE ALL OF THEM!!
Is the scent pleasant? Yes. Is the quality of this perfume proportional to its price? FOR NO REASON! Generic perfume, one of the many sweet scents flooding the market, but at a price, at least in my country, that’s exaggerated. You can find perfumes of equal or superior quality for a third of the value of this potion. It has no personality, it’s generic, doesn’t set trends, you’ll go unnoticed. Personally, I don’t feel the sweet fruity note mentioned by Fragantica… maybe the gingerbread and synthetic sweet notes devour it, but I didn’t perceive pineapple or tangerine at all in the sample I got. DO NOT BUY
As for the scent, I’m simply fascinated by it, a sweet and warm smell, a bit acidic but quite sweet and vanilla-like. The scent is an elixir for my taste, pity that the longevity and sillage aren’t on par. In my case with quite good pH, it doesn’t last me even 5 hours on skin (on clothes I can still smell it the next day, but only if I sniff deeply and very close). The sillage isn’t that big, I haven’t measured it well, but I’d say less than an arm’s length, though I must say the sillage does persist constantly, and the intensity doesn’t fade as fast, but the overall longevity is too short for my taste given the price you pay. It’s a versatile perfume, I consider it can be used in all seasons and at any time. But its price isn’t worth it, if you find it on discount below $90, it’s a good deal.
Well… here’s another, ANOTHER one. My brother has it and I’ve been sniffing it, kind of unwillingly. And it’s that I like its opening very much like Aventus, Zara Bogoss… but then it comes out with a weird cookie sweetness with ambroxan that makes me dizzy, ending up with a suede touch. Fresh but dense. I don’t recommend it for trying new things but hey, it’s not bad and it stands out.
It has an extremely fleeting fruity opening and a spicy dry down with a strong vanilla and cedar background. At times it does remind me of gingerbread cookie scent. Its trail is moderate and lasts about 9 hours on my skin. It reminds me a lot of the Stronger with You line, specifically the Intensely version which is the one I own. It’s one of those recent men’s perfumes that due to its sweet olfactive profile can result in being unisex. Scent 7/10 Longevity 9/10 Sillage 7.5/10 Value 7/10 Versatility 7/10 Packaging 7.5/10 Would I buy again? No, I didn’t buy it.
It has a very sweet opening with a pineapple scent, but it fades quickly, leaving a ginger smell and darkening over time. It has a very weak trail and lasted me more than 3 hours but clung very close to the skin.
If I had to guess who wears it, I’d say they put too much effort into pleasing others, at the expense of their individuality and character. Very daytime. In the end, it just leaves a subtle sweetness of pineapple and vanilla. *I’m an absolute beginner, don’t even take my word for it*
What I like most about this Valentino is its rich opening. The dry down smells disgusting and cloying to me. I bought it at the airport and smelling the opening, it seemed like the best option, so I made the grave mistake of purchasing it. I regret buying this fragrance when I could have bought the Valentino Uomo Born In Roma Intense; I wasted $114, I wouldn’t buy it again. It’s good sometimes and bad other times, I don’t recommend it much.
The whole perfume is great, the scent is simply delicious, works really well in heat or cool days, I’ve gotten plenty of compliments, it’s quite a youthful fragrance. The only thing I personally wish was better is the longevity, as it lasts about 4-5 hours on my skin and around 6 on clothes; I just think if it lasted an hour or two longer, it would be an amazing perfume. I’m not an expert, but I still give it an 8.5/10 simply because for the price, the longevity could be a bit longer; otherwise, everything is excellent with the aroma ✌️
Look, I try to avoid reviewing disappointments to recommend gems. I have great respect for Valentino Uomo Original, which left so many fans, but this brand is going to hell in a handbasket, launching monotonous, linear flankers with ideas copied from other hits but lacking real DNA. Why are they profitable? They reuse the bottle, cut design and marketing costs, and sell you a different perfume as a flanker of an original. It bothers me because they’re taking people for fools. This Yellow Dream (fire the creative director of “Blue Inferno”) is a bland, sweet vanilla scent, smelling like citrus cookie (I don’t feel the pineapple) and lacking balance. The little bit it lasts overwhelms by fading out at 4:30 without leaving a trace except faint marks on clothes. All three notes come out together with no evolution. We’re talking about a Valentino! The price isn’t justified by aroma or performance. The brand can and does better. It smells good, yes, but surely you’ve heard it a thousand times, and for a sweet scent, the performance should be better. Cheers! I tested it on paper while traveling, and with an atomizer, the scent lasted many hours (approx. 7). For an EDT, I thought it was a bomb, but a huge mistake not to spray it on skin. I have a lot to say, always based on my experience: NEGATIVE POINTS – The longevity on my skin is terrible; I don’t know if it’s my pH, but after 2.5 hours, it’s skin scent, which is a shame for the price. It stays as skin scent for about 6 hours. – If I spray 5 times, it leaves a moderate trail but nothing noticeable; it’s not a sillage monster unless you go overboard. I feel it has a sillage peak after 1 hour that lasts very briefly. POSITIVE POINTS – It’s a scent that fell in love with me at first sniff; in my opinion, nothing compares. I’ve heard the Stronger With You line is similar, but I feel this one projects more presence and originality. – It’s a sweet scent I’d describe as ‘nostalgic’; that’s what it evokes. It’s versatile for any occasion but works great for close encounters, movies, or dinners where you’re near someone. Unlike SWY, this is perfect for summer and winter, day and night. It’s quite youthful. – I’ll repeat myself: the scent is phenomenal, nothing compares. Many are similar, but this is superior. I’ve received plenty of compliments; you’ll be unforgettable. CONCLUSION I recommend getting a decant to atomize right before you want to make an impact and applying more than 5 sprays if you want to be noticed, repeating every 2-3 hours. If Azzaro The One Wanted Intense and Stronger With You had a baby, this would be the perfume. Totally recommended, but test before buying. If this leaves a trail for more than 3 hours on your pH, consider yourself lucky and don’t hesitate to get it. Finally, with this perfume, you won’t just smell good; you’ll smell unforgettable.
I tested it on blotter paper while traveling; one spray lasted hours (approx. 7). For an EDT, I thought it would be a bomb; my mistake was not putting it on skin. NEGATIVE POINTS: On my skin, it lasts very little; I don’t know if it’s my pH, but by 2:30 it’s skin scent, a shame for the price. As skin scent, it lasts about 6 hours. With 5 sprays, it leaves a moderate but not noticeable trail; it’s not a siren unless you overdo it. It has a presence peak at 1 hour that lasts very briefly. POSITIVE POINTS: I fell in love smelling it; nothing compares. They say it resembles the Stronger With You line, but I feel it commands more presence and originality. It’s a sweet “nostalgic” scent, quite versatile, ideal for close encounters like movies or dinner. Unlike SWY, this works perfectly in summer and winter, day and night. It conveys youth. The scent is phenomenal; many are similar, but this is superior. I’ve gotten many compliments; you’ll be unforgettable. CONCLUSION: Bring a decant to spray right before generating impact and apply more than 5 sprays if you want to make a statement, repeating every 2-3 hours. If Azzaro The One Intense and Stronger With You had a child, this would be it. Totally recommended, but test first. If it lasts more than 3 hours on your skin, you’re lucky and should buy it. You won’t just smell good; you’ll smell unforgettable.
A simple review based on my experience (not an expert). The opening is explosive, tropical, with mandarin dominating the pineapple (very rich and pleasant). It’s warm, vanilla-spiced, spicy, and fruity. It can get cloying if you overdo it (max 6 sprays). Performance is weird on my skin, but it always beats 5 hours with normal projection (the first hour is great). Others don’t care if it smells like SWY; it’s not original, but it’s liked and impresses the uninitiated. Versatile, shines on dates and parties, though it works for daily wear too. Juvenile enough for acquaintances, dates, or parties where you’ll get compliments. A scent almost no one dislikes. 7.5/10.

Its performance is unusual on my skin, but it always lasts over 5 hours with normal projection (the first hour is great). There’s a lot to say, let’s break it down… The bottle is elegant and eye-catching, reminding me of the finest Scotch whisky. The perfume is spectacular with an exquisite aroma. You feel the pineapple explosion, citrus notes, and a touch of ginger. Longevity and projection are moderate. It’s easy to wear. I recommend it more for cold days, whether during the day or night.
One of the best Valentino fragrances, seriously underrated, smells fantastic, and lasts well. Perfect for me in all seasons despite being tropical.

One of Valentino’s best fragrances, seriously underrated. It smells amazing and lasts well. For me, it’s perfect for all seasons, even though it’s tropical.
It doesn’t reinvent the wheel or blow your socks off, but this mix of pineapple, ginger, and vanilla tastes incredible to me. Versatile for almost any season, and the performance isn’t bad. If you get compliments while enjoying it, even better. That’s what Yellow Dream is all about.
I like Valentino fragrances. It’s not my favorite (Intense), but it smells frankly good. Great opening, and the dry down really highlights the ginger and pineapple. It’s versatile, smells amazing, and easy to wear. I agree with the 7.5/10 rating. Notable.
The blend of pineapple, vanilla, and ginger blew my mind. I thought it would be short-lived, but in Spain, it lasts about 6 hours, which is great for the price. I use 8 sprays and people notice it a lot. It smells good on everyone, perfect for heat. For the price and scent, I give it 8.5/10.
Guilt-free pleasure; it doesn’t last or project much, but I absolutely love how it smells lol.
From the Born in Roma line, but it disappointed me. I was looking for a juicy, fruity pineapple, but it came out synthetic, lacking that natural sweetness. On skin, it smells weird, like I got hit with a flat, artificial caramel. It doesn’t have that fruity freshness one expects in summer from this collection.
