Izia by Sisley

Total disappointment. I was looking for a floral aldehydic scent, but I couldn’t find a trace of aldehydes—just sweetness. They warned me it smells like Delina, and like my parents when they say ‘I told you so,’ I didn’t believe it until I tried it.

I’m not a fan of aldehydes, but I love this perfume. It’s not for blind buying; it’s a very elegant aldehydic rose. It lasts well on my skin and is quite potent. I wear it in spring and cold weather. Highly recommended.

Sisley perfumes are worth every penny, just like Izia. What luxury! It’s flowers, a bit of pepper, citrus, and wood. Mostly roses, the kind from neighborhood gardens, cut and in water. A well-achieved and wonderful aroma. The packaging isn’t much, but the color describes the scent exactly. Buy it blind, for yourself, and as a gift.

Very citrusy, rosy, and peppery. Distinguished and high quality. Cheerful, spring-like, or for summer nights. It fits the line of Coco Mademoiselle without being the same. It pleasantly surprised me; I don’t rule out adding it to my collection someday.

I’m editing my review: when I tested two samples, I loved the aroma and longevity. I ended up buying the bottle, despite it being expensive, and it has disappointed me so much. I don’t know if the samples last longer to sell you or what’s going on… I still like the aroma; it’s floral and citrusy, it doesn’t leave me indifferent, but its longevity is extremely scarce, not even on clothes. The scent is very similar to a perfume from the 90s or 2000s; several people confused it with one from that era (too bad I don’t know which one). It’s a pity because it went from being my favorite in samples to spending €150 and barely smelling it for an hour.

I absolutely love Izia. Sisley is my favorite brand, and I know this perfume has received its share of criticism. While it lacks the majesty of Eau du Soir or Soir de Lune, it definitely has quality, appeal, and a cheerful, carefree elegance. It’s a very distinct crystal rose, highlighted by bergamot and aldehydes, giving it an effervescent, clean touch. I see it as a pastel rose with sparkles of sunlight. The bottle is gorgeous and fits the fragrance perfectly. In short, it’s a clean, refined rose; even if people say it’s not original, I’d recognize it in a thousand scents because of the delicate rose, subtle bergamot acidity, and the aldehyde touch. I see it as ideal for intermediate seasons or humid days that make its notes shine. It lasts all day on me and projects moderately, with no complaints about performance. I totally agree with Chris Mannix’s review; it captures the spirit of the fragrance perfectly.

It’s an acidic, fresh rose. At the same time, vintage and modern. Luminous, like a garden at noon. It has an aldehyde opening that makes it very refined, and then slowly that juicy, sensual rose emerges. I’ve discovered it smells stronger on humid days. A true gem.

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!! The more you use it, the more you like it. At first, I didn’t like the opening; very aldehydic and strong, unpleasant to my nose. But over time, I was amazed by the heart notes, like a rainbow, the scent of a rose with a solar halo. Then it dries down to citrus and lasts 6 hours. I recommend trying it before buying. Try it, there’s nothing like it!

To say it’s a bad perfume would be a lie. The bottle isn’t impressive; it doesn’t look like a great perfume, but to be honest, none of Sisley’s are visual wonders. But the quality is good; the scents tend to be sophisticated. Izia is fresh and light; at first, it didn’t seem like much to me, but after a few minutes, it seemed relevant. It has pepper, rose, peony; it’s very floral but not overwhelming. The sillage is good, but it’s not a high-impact perfume; it lasts about 6 hours without making a scene. It’s lovely and has a nuance I really liked. Since it’s Sisley, it’s expensive, so it either has to enchant you or you’ll feel you wasted the money.

Let me tell you my story with Izia. A year ago, I was given a sample. Several months later, I tried it for a work dinner, and the surprise was that after a long time, all my colleagues asked what perfume I was wearing, and honestly, I didn’t even remember the name. When I got home, my husband asked what perfume I had used and then immediately said, “Please buy it.” I forgot that anecdote, but a week ago I thought about what perfume to buy for summer. I couldn’t remember which sample it was, but, like magic, the Sisley stand appeared, and ohhhh, I knew which gem it was: Izia. So different, so elegant, so cheerful. Dear Isabel, I think you will be my go-to perfume for a long time.

They gave it to me for my birthday. I’d never tried Sisley fragrances before, though I did use their creams. Despite the “bad” reviews, I’ve liked it quite a bit. It’s a floral citrus scent where I smell mostly bergamot, peony, and rose. Even though it’s floral on my skin, it keeps that citrus touch. It gives you a boost of energy every time you put it on. Soft and fresh, it lasts all day. The bottle with its sunset colors gives me the same cheerful feeling. It’s super wearable and versatile for daily wear, work, or the gym. I doubt many people will dislike it. It’s perfect for wearing, though its top moment is spring/summer. Maybe it’s overpriced, but many pleasant perfumes don’t last at all. Izia has excellent longevity. Without the bottle, I’d say Jo Malone could have created it by fixing their durability issues. It’s a zero-teen scent and very pleasant. I’d definitely give it another chance. <3

It gives you a boost of energy every time you wear it. Also, to have such a soft and fresh scent, it surprisingly lasts all day without any issues. The bottle has colors that remind me of a sunset from yellows to pinks, a gradient with very cheerful colors that is the same sensation this fragrance produces in me. I think it’s a super wearable and versatile fragrance for daily use, work, the gym, and casual hangouts, and I doubt it will disgust many people regarding the scent. It’s perfect when you feel like splurging, but it’s true it would have its TOP moment in spring/summer. It is true that I think it might be overpriced, but like many perfumes of this type that usually smell pleasant and soft (a great example are Jo Malone fragrances that smell good but last a breath and cost a fortune, which I think is a rip-off), at least Izia has very good longevity. In fact, if I smelled it without being given the bottle, I’d say it’s a fragrance Jo Malone could have released if they fixed all their defects regarding longevity; only that Izia would be worth it. To me, it’s a zero-cheesy and very pleasant scent. I would definitely give it a chance.

Previous chapter: Eau Du Soir by Sisley. CHAPTER II: EDP Izia by Sisley. If there were a time machine, its fuel would be the perfume Izia. Smelling it, first, my memories took me to my childhood: my grandmother’s house, her perfumes Climat and Magie Noire, her rose petal, citrus, red berry, and sugar soda, her divine garden of roses from Eastern Europe with peonies and lily of the valley, jasmine and lilacs, angelica and red, white, and yellow roses. Then I was transported to my adolescence: my first love, the gardens of Southern France, the May roses, the jasmine of Grasse. The next stop was the Roseraie de Bagatelle in Paris, whose corners I never tired of exploring. I also remember the year 2006. The movie “The Perfume: The Story of a Murderer” premiered in theaters. I was out with a girl, and her skin smelled like Miss Charming from the maison Juliette has a gun. Izia reminded me of Miss Charming. Even out of curiosity, I bought Miss Charming and verified that yes, after 2 hours, its trail on my skin smells exactly like the main notes of Izia, rose and bergamot. If I didn’t know that the rose inspiring Francis Kurkdjian is Moroccan and the one inspiring Isabelle d’Ornano is French—a mysterious rose that only blooms once a year—I’d say it’s the same rose both took as a starting point. Only that the perfumer fruited it, making it capricious, greedy, the one that never existed (not to say synthetic), and Isabelle wrapped it in the mantle of cedar balance, the tranquility of angelica, the longing of lily of the valley, the freshness of aldehydes, and the bitter notes of peonies. She created a noble and soothing composition, with great class. It conveys inner peace. Most perfumes demand exhibition, being seen to be seen, to shine, to impress others. In contrast, Izia invites me to interiorize in its all-encompassing company. This is where Isabelle will be with me; she doesn’t push me toward unknown experiences, doesn’t ask me to renew my wardrobe, doesn’t ask me for action; in fact, she doesn’t ask for anything. Carefree and friendly, she sends her greetings of joy and kindness. It’s not a complex and majestic perfume; rather, it’s simple. Its name tells us everything, Izia, the diminutive of Isabelle in Polish. The grand clothes rest in their closets; the diamonds and rubies are stored in jewelry boxes. The princess is at home, simply showing herself as she is. Sincerely, I’m not surprised that most Spanish Fragrantica users don’t find Izia attractive or interesting. The stifling atmosphere of warm climates, according to my experience, kills this delicate and romantic perfume. Above all, the dry Mediterranean summer is completely fatal for it. To open up and bloom, Izia needs freshness and humidity. I also don’t see it as compatible with sub-zero temperatures. On my skin and clothes, it is long-lasting. The sillage is moderate for evolved users. I, like a savage who doesn’t think about others (in this case), easily get a sillage of two meters, meaning heavy. I’d like to add my observations about the bottle. At first glance, it seemed like a rubber duck. Then, when I brought it home, I placed it on the black wooden shelf against the wall in front of the window. Seeing it among the caravel and ship models, I saw in it an impetuous sailboat with its little flag (the cap), illuminated by the pink-yellow rays of sunset/sunrise. It’s not a uniform color of a solid object but a gradient and diaphanous color, the color of light. I have dozens of high perfumery and niche bottles, but none reflect light as much as this one. If you want to adorn some strategic corner of your home, place Izia there. It will sparkle with multiple light beams like a Christmas tree. This bottle is a true masterpiece. Targeted at young women, Sisley modernizes with something fresh and optimistic. Well-blended natural essences: a delicate, acidic rose paired with intense bergamot. Pink pepper gives it a sparkling touch. Perfect for daytime, informal, or semi-formal occasions. It radiates joy and is great for work if you’re extroverted. The trail is contagious and the longevity is good. Another hit from Sisley.

I tried it and found it extremely unpleasant due to its acidity. An acidic floral. I can’t describe what it smells like, but the scent it left on my wrist bothered me quite a bit. The aroma is very long-lasting. It seems to have quality components and a good fixative. I’m not saying it’s a bad perfume or that it can’t be liked. Just that it’s not for me.
