They told me in the store that it’s the reformulation of Eau d’Ikar with more essential oils and it’s true it’s noticeable. It’s a great burst of an ultra-clean scent almost excessive. The longevity and sillage are high at least on paper. The problem is that with a lot of heat it can feel heavy. Still I think it’s a very valid option.
A sophisticated elegant and fresh work of art. It has that green iris-like and softly powdery aura of Houbigant’s secret gardens: earthy and wooded places filled with ivy and hidden flowers where you feel happy. The blend of soft iris orange and resin creates a fine impeccable thread of abstract nature. Those noses looking for powdery notes softness and discreet but refined freshness will love it. It’s clear but contained elegance the beauty of a princess in simple slippers that discreet charm of the bourgeoisie.
The name fits perfectly. ‘Eau rêvée d’Ikar’ evokes the myth of Icarus the inventor who escaped the tower by flying ignoring his father’s warnings about the sun and the sea. Sisley used this myth to create their first men’s perfume in 2011 which served as the basis for this new version. Although the store says it’s the same thing with more oils it’s a fresh and crisp reinterpretation—nothing boring like other luxury updates. It opens with citrus and bitter orange a geranium that smells like green rose rather than bug spray followed by iris and lentisk resin. Pistachio is the key: realistic toasted and crunchy which makes it stand out from the usual. Vetiver and labdanum give it a green vibe while sandalwood provides structure. I imagine this with linen clothes for someone elegant but not for formal events. It’s not aggressive discreet and lasts up to 8 or 10 hours. It’s like a French cologne for a trip to the Mediterranean better than an eau de cologne. It works in any season though it’s typical for summer. The bottle is sober and elegant with a good sprayer. I’m not sure if I’ll buy it again due to the price but since it was a gift and there are discounts here it’s worth it.
