I’ve never smelled it, so it’s curious that this is the first review. According to critics, Kouros Silver isn’t by Yves Saint Laurent… it’s by YVES SAINT L’ORÉAL! Perfumes are no longer works of art as they used to be years ago. Sad but true!

  • Not even close to what I expected. It adds nothing new, smells cheap, synthetic, and purely commercial. It shares nothing with Kouros and its variants except the name and the bottle. I tried it this afternoon and was hugely disappointed; I thought it would be better. L’Oréal is ruining YSL with unworthy fragrances. All the notes are there, but on my skin, what stood out most was the sage, some woods, and a very synthetic apple. After 4 hours, there’s no trace left, and from the first hour, it’s barely skin scent. In short, either I had too many expectations or the fragrance leaves a lot to be desired. I lean towards the latter, but if you can try it, let me know.

Just to clarify, this is a modern scent with nothing to do with the legendary Kouros by YSL. It could have been a flanker for another fragrance and would have satisfied fans. It opens fresh, ideal for summer, very fruity and sweet, like Invictus but with more character and aggression. On my skin, it has good longevity; although people say it’s fresh, it has a distinct personality and works for any season, though I recommend it for spring-summer with about six sprays, and I’m left with 8 hours. Performance on skin is good. At times it reminds me of several fragrances mixed together: Black XS, Emblem by Mont Blanc, Eros by Versace, and at the end, a bit of Black Soul by Ted Lapidus. That sensory play is strange, like wearing a known fragrance but with character. I really like it, it gets compliments, and people in my circle love it.

Whatever L’Oréal touches, they destroy! Based on the reviews I’ve read, Kouros Silver isn’t a fragrance by Yves Saint Laurent… it’s a product by YVES SAINT L’ORÉAL!

  • Kouros Silver has nothing to do with the classic; it’s an updated version for the 2015 fashion scene. It feels domesticated and lobotomized, like Randle McMurphy at the end of the movie. It starts fresh and pleasant with a hint of apple, but soon turns sweet and amber-heavy, reminiscent of Golden Secret or Polo Red Intense. Not worthy of YSL. I agree with Pplu: it’s not horrible or ugly, and the longevity isn’t disastrous, but overall it’s bland, mediocre, and blends in with the thousands of scents like this. Scent 4/10, Sillage 5/10, Longevity 5/10, Versatility 5/10.

Undoubtedly, Yves Saint Laurent, thanks to L’Oréal, has lost personality with so many flankers. Their current perfumes go for mass sales and have a short life on the shelves. You sell once, rarely repeat. The customer isn’t stupid: Kouros Silver is 100% synthetic. Yes, it’s pleasant, soft, and for young people who don’t want heavy fragrances. Sometimes I spray myself in a perfumery and the impression is light. It’s linear, highlighting an apple with warm ambered notes and a touch of dry wood that makes it masculine and young. My humble opinion is that it has good performance but lacks character. Suitable for a teenager looking for something simple without standing out. An anodyne fragrance, improper for Yves Saint Laurent.

Without a doubt, Yves Saint Laurent has lost its soul to L’Oréal fanatics; their current perfumes chase mass sales and don’t last long in the store. They sell once, but rarely get a repeat purchase because they’re pleasant yet forgettable fragrances. Customers aren’t stupid. Kouros Silver is 100% synthetic, sure, but it’s soft and perfect for young people who don’t want heavy scents. Sometimes I test it at the perfume shop next door, and it seems light. It’s linear, featuring a prominent apple note with warm amber undertones and a dry wood touch that makes it masculine and youthful. My humble opinion is that it has decent performance, but it lacks character. It’s for a teenager looking for something simple without standing out. A bland fragrance unworthy of Yves Saint Laurent.

It’s been a year since I bought it, and although it didn’t go crazy on me back then, now I find it very pleasant, calmer. I’ve worn it again. For me, the best part is the dry down; it’s delicious. Sometimes the opening is aggressive, but after half an hour it calms down and launches brushstrokes of green or herbal notes that enchant and blend with the sweet touch. It has discreet projection but it’s noticeable. Longevity is acceptable. I add that I’ve never tried the original Kouros. I only judge this for what it is, what it gives me, and how it makes me feel.

It’s been a year since I bought it, and while it didn’t go crazy on me back then, now I find it very pleasant, calmer, or settled. I’ve used it again. For me, the best part is its drydown; it’s delicious. Sometimes its opening is a bit woody and can be aggressive, but after half an hour it calms down and starts launching brushstrokes of green or herbal notes that enchant and blend wonderfully with the sweet style of the fragrance. It has discrete projection but makes itself felt. Its longevity is acceptable. I add that I’ve never tried the original Kouros, I only judge this fragrance for what it is, what it gives me, and how it makes me feel.

YSL is one of my favorite houses, so it’s hard for me to rate one of their fragrances as bad, but I definitely don’t like it. It’s an excessively sweet and synthetic apple, made to sell to the masses. Something very simple, it seems made without effort. Obviously, NOTHING has to do with the 1981 Kouros, not even as an adopted brother.

I think this flanker received too many criticisms because of the name. It’s like when your family is famous for something and you’re different, so you’re automatically prejudiced. Kouros Silver is good, not excellent. To give you an idea, it has the opening of Armani Code Profumo, a piercing synthetic apple, and the dry down of Burberry Brit Rhythm Intense, freshly cut dry wood. It has that sharp artificial apple at the start, but the dry down improves a lot; sage and wood are accentuated, and the sweet bomb drops. The change at 15 minutes is radical; it goes from being a clone of One Million to a soft, pleasant woody scent. Good longevity, moderate sillage. Not a bad option for a young audience and night use. Scent: 7, Longevity: 7, Sillage: 6, Price: 10.

YSL is one of my favorite houses, so it’s really hard for me to rate any of their fragrances poorly, but I definitely don’t like this one. It’s an excessively sweet, synthetic apple scent, made just to please the masses and sell in bulk. It feels like something thrown together without any real effort. Needless to say, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in common with Kouros from 1981; it can’t even be its adopted brother, lol.

I consider this flanker has received too many negative reviews just for its name. It’s like when your family is known for a virtue and you’re different, and automatically become the target of prejudice. Kouros Silver is a good fragrance, not excellent. To give you an idea, it has the same opening as Armani Code Profumo, a synthetic and sharp apple, and the drydown of Burberry Brit Rhythm Intense, that touch of dry, freshly cut wood. It has that sharp artificial apple note at the start, but its drydown improves a lot, the sage and wood are accentuated, and the sweet bomb is attenuated. The change at 15 minutes is radical: it goes from being a clone of One Million to being a soft, pleasant woody scent. Its longevity is good, sillage is moderate. It’s not a bad option for a young audience and evening use. Scent 7, Longevity 7, Sillage 6, Price 10.

  • I imagine an orthodox, rigid father with a bohemian, pop son. Silver doesn’t answer Kouros Dad’s call. It usually happens, it’s not bad, but here the differences are extreme, from the aromatic family to the quality. The opening is an angry green apple that turns herbal with spicy sage (I love this phase, unlike others). Then comes the amber, sweeter and more modern, finishing with a rough, dry wood. It’s pleasant; with over-application, it works for youth parties or pubs, with that ‘Axe’ effect. Ideal for spring or autumn and for clothes. Sillage and longevity are good; everyone likes it. The spicy, metallic sage is the standout note; that unwanted son.

  • I imagine an orthodox, traditionalist father who has a bohemian, pop, postmodern son… Silver is that son who doesn’t answer to Kouros Dad’s orders. It usually happens, it’s not bad sometimes. But here the differences are extreme, from the fragrance family to the quality of ingredients. The opening is a furious green apple that turns herbal with spicy sage (that phase is what I like, unlike other forum members). Then comes the amber, more amber with a pleasant and modern sweetness, finishing with a rough, dry, and very real wood. It’s pleasant; with over-application, it works for youth parties or pubs, due to its ‘Axe effect’. Ideal for spring or autumn and for spraying on clothes. Sillage and fixation are good, and everyone likes it. The spicy, metallic sage is, for me, the standout note of Silver, that unwanted son.

  • Super pleasant and fresh thanks to the fruity apple note, slightly sweet with sage and amber. I wear it soft and dry; not everyone notices, but others definitely smell it. Ideal for blind buys. Perfect for spring and summer, day and night, and even for the office. It profiles very well for intimate dates. In summary: fresh, seductive, slightly sweet, and addictive. This melts anyone.

  • Super pleasant, fresh due to the fruity apple note, slightly sweet from the sage and amber. I feel it soft and dry, it’s not perceptible all the time, but others seem to notice it. Ideal for blind buys. Spring, summer, day and night use, also interesting for the office. In intimate romantic encounters, it profiles very well. In summary: fresh, seductive, slightly sweet, addictive. This melts anyone.

  • La Nariz Simple

AROMA: EXCELLENT. PROJECTION: VERY GOOD. LONGEVITY: VERY GOOD. QUALITY: VERY GOOD. BLIND BUY: YES. 8.5/10. Nothing like the original Kouros; I don’t know why they gave it that name. But the scent is delicious, has great longevity, and it’s a compliment machine.

  • La Nariz Simple

SCENT: EXCELLENT. PROJECTION: VERY GOOD. FIXATION: VERY GOOD. QUALITY: VERY GOOD. BLIND BUY: YESSSS. 8.5/10. Nothing to do with the original Kouros. I don’t know why they gave it this name. But the scent is delicious, very good fixation, and it’s a compliment machine.

  • I tested it right out of the box and many times since. The first time I smelled Kouros Silver, my disappointment was total. The name was probably to blame; I love Body Kouros and the original is legendary. If it didn’t have that name, maybe I wouldn’t have expected less. The opening horrified me; that weird caramelized apple bothers me. The good news is the dry down: ambered wood with sage that balances the amber. I love that phase; it’s up to the house’s standard. The problem is enduring an olfactory nightmare of over an hour to get there. Would I repurchase? Yes, if they reformulate and remove that synthetic opening. It lasts 6-8 hours with moderate sillage. Not bad if you remove the opening, but I still think L’Oréal has destroyed the house.

  • A Kouros that smells like Eros with that horrendous Jolly Rancher caramel apple note? Come on, L’Oréal. Pull everything from the YSL men’s line and just leave us with La Nuit de L’Oréal and YYYYYssss

  • A Kouros that smells like Eros with that scary Jolly Rancher caramel apple? Come on, L’Oréal. Remove everything from the YSL line and leave us with just La Nuit de L’Oréal and YYYYYssss.

  • Kouros Silver failed on several fronts, but as I read before, it laid the groundwork for Y’s success. Although its life was short, it was worth it. The main flaw is that it smells too young for classic Kouros fans. That green, sour yet sweet apple note dominates the entire fragrance and you have to like it immediately. Longevity is average, around 5-6 hours, typical for a designer scent. It does its job without shining, but the name fits it perfectly. PS: Fix the name, they repeated the brand.
