  Sometimes we take for granted that a flanker line from the 2000s isn’t worth attention compared to my beloved Kouros. That white beast that I adore, despite its challenging animalic personality. It’s one of my intense 80s passions. This summer version is the same beast, but instead of taking you to dinner at its eclectic gothic castle, it invites you to spend an afternoon on some quirky island. It’s the same man, just more relaxed, smiling at you and even offering you a mojito to enjoy the day. Kouros Eau d’Été 2005 opens with that classic Kouros top note, but quickly turns into something minty. Which seems like it would be a disaster if not done well. Instead, the mint here is of very high quality, very well crafted, quite sharp at first and steals all the attention. But… and here’s where the magic happens, the mint fades and the floral musky part of the classic Kouros takes over. This beast doesn’t roar, but purrs as it shows off its flowers, less intense, kissed by summer dew, the same musky DNA but subtle. And it lasts amazingly well; 12 hours later, you still have that beast purring and smiling at you. The dry down is fantastic, very wearable, high quality, and nothing gets muddy. I highly recommend it for Kouros lovers to make room for this beauty. Beyond the scent, from the bottle to the box, they’ve done an excellent job.
