Descripción

Ylang in Gold by M. Micallef is an oriental floral fragrance for women. Launched in 2012, this composition was created by perfumer Jean-Claude Astier. The olfactory pyramid opens with top notes of caramel, rose, and bergamot; the heart reveals ylang-ylang, jasmine, orange blossom, and coconut; while the base settles on vanilla, sandalwood, and musk.

  • Bought it blind because YouTube called it the best perfume, better than many others, BUT, it disappointed me a bit. I expected something else, I hoped to fall in love with this fragrance but it wasn’t the case. It just arrived (and it wasn’t cheap) and I’ll give it more chances, see if it surprises me someday.

This perfume is worth every penny. I bought it blind because Demi Rowling from YouTube recommended it, and oh my god, I’m so glad I found it at Oswald in New York. It’s a delight: sweet and potent, but it doesn’t smell like artificial coconut; it feels like fresh coconut milk, delicious. The only downside is it doesn’t last as long as I’d like, about 6 hours, then it fades into the skin. If you mix it with Sunshine by Amouage, it’s a divine duo; Amouage adds longevity and a touch of acidity that saves it.

  • Sweet, creamy, and a bit shy. I bought a sample of Ylang in Gold and loved it. On my skin, the coconut and vanilla take the lead, while the rest of the notes provide a sweet background, like fruity gummies. The projection is soft, but it lasts about 8 hours. The good thing is that it doesn’t overwhelm; the bad thing is that it gets lost easily among other scents. I recommend it for indoor spaces because outside, you might not even notice it yourself. For now, I’m not ready to buy it because at that price, I expected more presence.

  • Sweet, creamy, and a bit shy. I bought a sample of Ylang in Gold and absolutely loved it. On my skin, the coconut and vanilla take center stage, while the other notes create a sweet background, like fruity gummies. The projection is soft but lasts about 8 hours. The good thing is it doesn’t overpower; the bad thing is it gets lost easily among other scents. I’d recommend it for indoor spaces because outside, you might not even notice it. For now, I’m not ready to buy the full bottle since I expected more presence for the price.

  • For me, it’s the best; many consider Chanel’s Coco the classic, but for me, it would be this. I tried it in a decant and then I got the bottle. I’m not a fan of the coconut note, especially if it smells like sunscreen (most do), but this has fascinated me; it’s a delicate perfume for personal use and enjoyment. They say it doesn’t project after a few hours and yes, it’s true, but I love the scent that stays impregnated in the clothes. It’s not invasive or a monster, but it’s beautiful and delicate. It smells to me like rich, sweet coconut milk without being cloying like almond milk. It’s very wearable on both hot and cool days. I don’t even want to finish the bottle. I put it on at 5:30 am and at 2:00 pm, after sweating and the heat from working in a tortilla factory, I could still smell it every time I moved.

  • I really like the scent. It smells like summer to me but very sophisticated and not excessively sweet. It doesn’t remind me of other white flower, coconut, and vanilla perfumes: not the monoi compositions, not Intense Tiaré or Coco Vanille, not Nuxe, nor Just Cavalli. I love all of these, but I want to highlight that this is different. I notice a distant resemblance to Casmir by Chopard, but it’s creamier, more balanced, finer, and summery. Its trail is moderate-soft and its longevity on my skin is about 4 hours, the last one right up against the skin. For me, it would be a great perfume if it had more projection and longevity. And if it didn’t have glitter. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth the cost. Scent 7.5/10, Longevity 4/10, Trail 6/10, Value/Price 3/10, Versatility 4/10, Packaging 9.5/10. Would I buy it again? No.

  • I was about to buy it blindly, but I managed to get an official Micallef set with four 10ml vials, including this perfume… I didn’t like it at all. Let me try to describe it: at first, there’s a strong, unpleasant hair spray (hairspray) aroma. It disappears quickly, leaving a dry-down that is extremely weak, almost imperceptible. It’s a bland bronzer scent, nothing pleasant. Don’t waste your money unless you try it and it falls in love with you; at this price, it’s a huge loss to buy such an aberration that has neither acceptable projection nor longevity. A total zero.

Truly a wonderful perfume. On my skin, it was magic; I fell in love the moment I tried it. I adore it—it’s one of those that generate controversy and isn’t for everyone; I notice it develops something very different on each person’s skin. I find it very versatile. What stands out most is the Ylang-Ylang, rose, peach, lychee, vanilla, and sandalwood. It’s a creamy, floral, fruity, and musky scent, very elegant. It’s not just a summer fragrance; you can wear it all year. From the start, I perceive a sophisticated, elegant, and very wearable aroma. It lasts 8 hours with a moderate sillage that many people around me love; they praised it from the very first moment. Before letting others influence you, give this beauty a chance and test it on your own skin. I absolutely recommend it and it’s worth the price. Love at first sniff.

What a wonderful perfume, truly. On me, it was magic and I fell in love when I tried it. I love it; it’s one of those that generates controversy and isn’t for everyone, as it develops very differently on each skin. I feel a very versatile scent. What stands out is the ylang-ylang, the rose, the peach, the lychee, the vanilla, and the sandalwood. Creamy, floral, fruity, and musky aroma, very elegant. I didn’t just feel it was summery; it can be worn all year round. From the start, I perceived a sophisticated, elegant, and very wearable scent. Lasted 8 hours with a moderate trail that is very pleasing. From the first moment, people appreciated and praised it. Before leaning towards others, give this beauty a chance and try it on your own skin. I recommend it absolutely and it’s worth it. Love at first sniff 😍

  • Dama Incognita

It’s an elegant, feminine, floral, and fruity perfume. In the dry-down, I perceived a coconut cream mixed with a cocktail of fruits, ylang-ylang, and subtly sweetened with vanilla. Unfortunately, on my skin, the longevity was scarce and the projection very weak. I bought a decant to test its development and practically had to empty it to perceive the aroma well. It’s pleasant, but due to the poor performance on me, inversely proportional to its price, I’m not going to buy the bottle.

  • Jaionemaite3

I received a decant; honestly, it smells good, but this type of aroma is more common than a cold. If it weren’t for the bottle, which is a masterpiece, I wouldn’t have so much success. I wouldn’t buy it, let alone at the price they ask.

I received a decant of this perfume. Honestly, it smells good, but this type of scent is more common than the common cold. If it weren’t for the fact that the bottle is a true masterpiece, I don’t think it would have so much success. I wouldn’t buy it, and certainly not at the price they’re asking.

  • I agree with ‘Unknown Lady’ about the scarce longevity and weak projection. I bought a decant with high hopes because the notes impressed me, but oh, the disappointment upon smelling it 😔. It gave me the impression of having heard it in some catalog used by an older lady just showered and ready to go out. I’m sorry, sometimes scents evoke memories and there are perfumes for every taste.

It’s so sweet and potent that it makes my stomach turn. I had high hopes for it, especially regarding the floral notes. Right when I first apply it, the opening is nice; it seems luminous and fresh. But that lasts only a breath, and then it turns into an overly sweet coconut cream that I just can’t stand. Neither the beauty of the bottle nor the gorgeous trail it leaves on my skin would make me use it. I can’t—I’ve tried it several times, but it’s definitely not for me.

Upon application, the opening is nice, luminous and fresh, but it lasts a breath before turning into an overly sweet coconut cream that I can’t stand. I bought Ylang in Gold by M. Micallef because it was cheap. I’ll say it straight: it wasn’t desire, it was an opportunity. And yet, my expectations were high. Pretentious name, a bottle playing at luxury. Promises that, in the end, aren’t kept. I once heard Ramón Monegal explain that sandalwood usually brings moderate projection. Maybe. But here we’re not talking about moderation; we’re talking about disappearance. On the skin: five hours. I checked my watch. On clothes, a bit more, but nothing that justifies the aura of exclusivity this perfume tries to project. The scent, though pleasant, is nothing new. A sweet, generic floral that, instead of dazzling, just manages to please. The ylang-ylang is rich, yes, but it doesn’t save the formula. There’s no risk, no twist, no soul. And if we think about performance, Ylang in Gold falls way short. There are mass-market perfumes that surpass it with insulting ease. Any Chanel at this price point knows how to last, how to project, how to tell a story without needing so much gold in the name. In short: pretty, correct, forgettable. I bought it for the price, and even so, I’ll think twice before using it again.

I bought it for the price, no nonsense. It wasn’t desire, it was an opportunity. And yet, my expectations were high. Pretentious name, a bottle that fakes luxury, but the promises aren’t kept. As Ramón Monegal said, sandalwood usually has moderate projection; here we’re talking about disappearance. On skin: five hours. On clothes, a bit more, but nothing that justifies its aura of exclusivity. The scent, while pleasant, is a sweet, generic floral that doesn’t dazzle. The ylang-ylang is rich, but it doesn’t save the formula. No risk, no twist, no soul. In performance, it falls way short; commercial perfumes beat it easily. Any random Chanel knows how to last and project better. In short: pretty, correct, forgettable. I bought it for the price and now I’ll think twice before using it again.

  • It arrived in my hands with a liquid that’s almost black, dark like vanilla syrup or cola. On light-colored clothes, it could stain. At first, it smells like realistic caramel with ylang-ylang and a vanilla base; sweet but rich. As it settles, sandalwood emerges, giving a creamy feel and the sensation of an expensive, tropical sunscreen. It smells luxurious. I liked it, but it didn’t make me want to buy the full bottle. I’ll keep testing it in different temperatures; maybe it smells better in the cold.
