Descripción
Y Eau Fraiche by Yves Saint Laurent is an aromatic woody fragrance for men. Launched in 2020, this composition was created by Dominique Ropion and Claire Liégent. The top notes unfold with a vibrant citrus blend of lemon, sour lime, ginger, and pepper; the heart reveals freshness with mint, geranium, juniper berries, and lavender; while the base settles on the warmth of cedar and frankincense, also known as olibanum.

I absolutely love it—I tried it and didn’t hesitate a second to buy it. Very rich, fresh, with a delicious clean scent. I wear it day and night, and I always get great compliments whenever I wear it.
Pleasantly surprised. Y Eau Fraîche follows the pattern of the previous ones but is more citrusy and has better longevity than the EDT, similar to the EDP, around 6 hours. Should you buy it? If you don’t have any Y or yours is running out, yes, it could be worth it, but not if you want to own them all at once.
A BIT MORE OF THE SAME: This fragrance shares a very similar DNA to the rest of the Y line, which are quite similar to each other, varying only in notes and intensities. Here, the opening is citrusy and super fresh, dominated by lime and ginger for the first 30 minutes with a hint of mint; then ginger, mint, and pepper take control, while geranium and lavender form the base. As it dries down, what remains is lavender, pepper, incense, and cedar. It’s versatile, fresh, elegant, and discreet—a well-balanced scent. If you’ve never owned a Y, this is the ideal candidate. The downside is that the resemblance to the other Ys is very noticeable, so owning many doesn’t make much sense; if I had two, they’d be Fraiche and EDP. It doesn’t diminish any of them, but it makes owning multiple unnecessary. It’s versatile, though not for sporty brightness, but rather fresh casual or executive formal wear. Better for daytime, spring/summer, and heat, though it also shines in a cool office. Probably attracts 25-year-olds, but it’s so versatile that 40+ adults use it easily. The fixative is very good for a fresh scent. Sprays: 5 to 8. Fixative: 8/10. Sillage: Soft. Intensity: Medium-Light.
Y Eau Fraiche is fresh, citrusy, and aromatic. It smells very much like its mother fragrance, but with extra mint and juniper berries giving it an extra freshness, though the original Y is very fresh too. Ideal for hot spring/summer days and casual situations like outings or gatherings. It lasted 8 hours, despite the rumors of poor longevity, although the projection is low. It’s the one I like most from the Y line, though it still seems a bit pricey. If you have the EDT, you don’t need to buy this, but if you don’t, it’s an attractive fragrance with a gorgeous bottle.
Y Eau Fraiche is a fresh, citrusy, and aromatic fragrance. Its scent is very similar to its mother fragrance, except in this case, there is greater emphasis on notes like mint and juniper berries, which add a greater sense of freshness, although the original Y is also very fresh. Y Eau Fraiche is perfect for use on hot days, like those in spring and summer, and for any casual situation, such as going out with friends, family gatherings, school, etc. Its longevity was good; it lasted about 8 hours for me, despite reading that it didn’t last long, which wasn’t the case in my experience, although the projection is indeed low. This version is the one I like most from the Y line, though it still seems a bit pricey to me. For those who own Y EDT, buying this would be redundant; otherwise, it’s an attractive fragrance with a beautiful bottle.
At first, it sounds like any generic citrus aquatic, but after half an hour, it explodes into powerful florals with a clean, acidic touch that evolves into incense. Sweet without being cloying, totally masculine and versatile for any occasion, though it truly shines in heat and during the day. Ideal for beach weddings or hot nights. I didn’t expect this much, but I absolutely loved it.
At first, I thought it was just another generic soapy water, but I was completely wrong. It took half an hour to release strong, robust floral halos with a clean, acidic touch, evolving into incense at the end: sweet but not cloying, very masculine. It’s versatile and doesn’t bother anyone, but its ideal moment is in warm climates or daytime. Perfect for a beach wedding or a hot night event. I never thought I’d love it this much, but it’s gone crazy for me.
As an owner of Y EDT and Y EDP, I seriously considered skipping this Fraiche, believing the scent would be redundant with the original (which, by the way, I consider excellent) since it seems to perfectly fulfill its function for spring/summer daytime. Fortunately, I decided to buy it and was pleasantly surprised… it’s undeniable that it has the Y DNA, but it makes it even fresher than the EDT. Maintaining the quality, longevity, and projection, it deserves all my admiration. This is how my Y collection is configured: Y Fraiche: Spring/Summer day (scorching heat); Y EDT: Spring/Summer day (less hot days) / night; Y EDP: Spring/Summer night (cool nights) and Autumn/Winter day (days not too cold). (8.5/10)
Since I already had the Y EDT and EDP, I hesitated to grab this Fraiche, fearing it would be redundant (and the original is great for spring/summer). But I decided to try it and was blown away… it has the Y DNA but is much fresher than the EDT. It maintains the quality, longevity, and projection; it deserves all my admiration. This is how I’ve configured my collection: Fraiche for scorching heat, EDT for less hot days or night, EDP for cool nights and autumn/winter. (8.5/10)
I already owned the Y EDP and Fan from the collection, so I jumped into this blind without thinking it might disappoint me. I do like it, but I catch hints of the Y family, then it smells a bit generic and too expensive for what it offers. Very pleasant, but I expected something more potent.
This fragrance is amazing. I’ve tried it before, but when they gifted me the travel bottle today, I was blown away. Even though the sillage is light, the fixatives are incredible: we went out dancing, and the next day it still smelled divine on my clothes and wrists. It’s addictive, super pleasant, and one of the latest releases with the most compliments. A safe buy with no risk of disappointment 😉
Spectacular for hot days. It follows the Y line DNA. With this Eau Fraîche and the Eau du Parfum, you’re covered for the whole year.
A summer fragrance, the most summery of the entire Y line. I’m surprised by the longevity considering it’s a fresh water. I own the EDP and Live Intense; I love this line, and I think these three are the best. Scent 8/10, Longevity 7 hours, Projection 8/10, Sillage 7/10, Value/Price 7/10, Blind Buy 8/10, Versatility 6/10.
This smells like pure gold and deserves more attention. It’s an Eau Fraîche that surprises with its longevity and projection. It’s not immediately noticeable on the skin, but after 3 to 6 hours, it clings beautifully. The opening is citrusy and fresh, almost imperceptible, until the first minute passes and unleashes the magic of the Y line.
It deserves more love. It’s a very good perfume. Being an Eau Fraîche, it’s surprisingly long-lasting. It projects enough, and although it doesn’t last all day, it sticks to you for 3 to 6 hours. The opening is very citrusy and fresh, almost impossible to tell what it smells like. After a few minutes, things get good and remind you it’s from the Y line.
I never liked the Y line, but with Eau Fraîche, something different happens. Citrus-sweet opening and development, slightly spicy and cheerful. Good longevity and a blind buy: in summer, you won’t fail, and it even works for flirting. It might not be groundbreaking, but it has personality among so many blues on the market. I prefer this to Bleu de Chanel, which is super expensive and has inferior quality and longevity compared to YSL.
I have this and the EDP. The EDT is a must-have for me. This Eau Fraîche is an excellent summer option: it’s not a crowd-pleaser cliché, it’s fresh, projects well, lasts, and feels different.
“Y” FOR THE HEAT. Opening: strong citrus with lemon and fizzy ginger, gives a tingle but fulfills its refreshing function. In the dry-down, it maintains freshness with a touch of sweetness and a solid, reduced ambroxan. A fantastic twist for a summer blue. ORIGINALITY: It’s a flanker, a point in favor for the distinctive quality base of the Y line. On the other hand, the lemon opening can be confused with Versace Pour Homme or Chanel Allure Homme Édition Blanche. CLIMATE: Works from 25°C, but shines above 30°C. Below that, better try the EDT. VERSATILITY: Informal to semi-formal, for any age, from beach afternoons to friend gatherings. PERFORMANCE: At 30-35°C with 5 sprays, it lasts 5-6 hours. Projects to arm’s length in the 1st hour, shoulders in the 2nd, skin in the 3rd, and skin scent until it disappears at 5-6 hours. Sillage: trail while walking for the first 2 hours. At 35-40°C with 6 sprays, it lasts 4-5 hours and projects more in the 1st hour. REFORMULATIONS: I haven’t compared batches, no data. SHOULD I RECOMMEND IT? Fantastic for upcoming summers. Although there are many options like this, its strong point is the iconic base by Dominique Ropion and good ingredients. Since it’s YSL, test before buying due to the price. If you like it, try: Y Eau De Toilette (2022) for versatility; Y Eau De Parfum with apple for sweetness and longevity; or Y Le Parfum for a fizzy opening and sweeter dry-down for cold weather.
The scent is very good, no doubt, but its main drawback is longevity: about 2 hours and then it becomes a skin scent. In extreme heat, maybe you can get 3 or 4 hours. It’s full summer, nothing for winter.
So what about the heat? The opening is an explosive lemon blast with ginger sparks that refresh without being overwhelming. In the heart, it keeps that classic EDT freshness but softer and less sweet, supporting the dry-down beautifully. A brilliant twist for hot days. ORIGINALITY Even as a flanker, it earns points for its distinctive Y base, crafted with quality ingredients that outshine the average designer perfume. The strong lemon top can be mistaken for others like Versace Pour Homme or Chanel Allure Homme Édition Blanche. WEATHER It works from 25°C but truly shines starting at 30°C. If it’s cooler, try its sibling, the EDT, instead. VERSATILITY Perfect for casual or semi-formal moments. Suitable for any age: from a young afternoon by the sea to gatherings with old friends. PERFORMANCE At 30-35°C with 5 sprays (one on each side of the neck, one behind each ear, and one at the nape), it lasts 5-6 hours. Projection reaches the arms in the first hour, drops to the shoulders in the second, clings to the skin in the third, and fades to skin scent by hour five or six. It leaves a trail while walking for the first two hours. At 35-40°C with 6 sprays (two on each side of the neck and two at the nape), it lasts 4-5 hours with a stronger initial projection beyond the arms, then behaves as before. REFORMULATIONS I haven’t tested other batches for comparison, so I have no data. SHOULD I BUY IT? It’s a great option for upcoming summers. While there are many similar choices, its strength lies in the iconic Dominique Ropion formula with top-notch ingredients. Since it’s Yves Saint Laurent, test it first as it’s pricier than others that have been around for years. If you like it, consider: the original EDT (2022) for being the most versatile and best in its category; the Eau De Parfum with apple notes, which is sweeter and longer-lasting; or Le Parfum, sharing the same freshness but sweeter and better suited for cold climates.
In a nutshell: nothing special. The packaging is handsome; that glass turning matte at the bottom gives a sense of “cold” or extreme freshness, but the smell is the classic summer menthol type, nothing original. Plus, the performance is weak: projects for at most the first hour, and by hour two, forget about it. The Y line doesn’t convince me, subjectively.
I won’t deny it smells good, though it’s a bit generic; I give it extra points for that immediate freshness upon application. As an Eau de Fraîche, it’s worth it! Scent: 8/10. Lasts 4-5 hours on my skin. Projection: almost non-existent, only skin scent, but if you apply more, it reaches arm’s length for about 40 minutes. Sillage: nearly zero, very personal. The bottle is gorgeous 😃😃.
Nice scent, but it’s an extremely common fragrance that everyone seems to own.
