Sr. N by Natura

I liked it, I underestimated it at first. It smells citrusy, citrusy, and herbal: first grapefruit with zest, then an acidic lemon with something green like arugula or chicory that isn’t annoying. The citrus lasts longer than usual until the vetiver appears, which isn’t earthy; maybe the vanilla and patchouli control it. It’s a vintage perfume; I don’t know if it’s barbershop, but in the end, it smells like laundry detergent, something intrusive. It lasts 5 or 6 hours and then sticks to the skin. The projection is low, fresh, and initially soapy, then sharp from that detergent that could make you sneeze. It’s not for conquering or drawing attention; it leaves an impression of cleanliness, of someone who takes care. It’s a ‘pristine’ perfume. They say it’s Natura’s worst, but I think that’s an unfair judgment. In my opinion, it does a good job. It’s not for young people looking for sweetness or ambroxan. I see it for a 50-year-old type (like me) who goes out to buy vegetables in a wicker basket, chats with the neighbor, or talks about the weather as if the world were better. Once at the supermarket, he walks out with leek leaves in the bag. Is it worth it? In Argentina, there are better options for that price. ADDENDUM: After 25 hours, it’s still there, very skin-deep. Another pleasant surprise: its persistence. Vetiver?

Like many designer brands have their vintage perfumes still in production (Pour Monsieur by Chanel, Eau Sauvage by Dior, etc.), Natura hasn’t been left behind with this 1979 Mr. N. It’s an honest, neat, and retro scent that gives you the look of a clean man. I don’t see it as a compliment generator because it’s lightyears away from the Natura prototype everyone knows (ambery, sweet, strong woods). It’s a scent from another era but very pleasant; this doesn’t smell ‘old,’ but rather like a neat person, like old colognes. The opening is citrus-herbal and impactful. Then in the heart and dry down, it remains herbal-green with vetiver, without the initial lemon. The vanilla base gives it a herbal-sweet touch. Longevity is moderate. If you like vintage perfumery, buy it blind; I did and I have no regrets. It’s an underrated gem in the catalog, where it’s dismissed for being old, but its longevity and performance are better than several current perfumes.

I think many criticisms are because it’s from the 70s, but that’s a mistake; it’s a Natura classic and classics always work. Obviously, the ones who wore them when young are aging, and we associate it with older people, but it’s a little gem at an incredible price, recommended for those over 40 for that vintage aroma (not ‘old’ smell). It has a charming freshly cut grass scent; it doesn’t bother or invade. In my case, I’ve received compliments. The patchouli and vetiver give it good longevity. It’s not a barbershop scent, but it has pleasant lavender, like Fragrance BBB. For people who like to collect vintage/classic scents, or those seeking something discreet and pleasant due to age, with good performance.

I hesitated quite a bit before buying it, even though I like vintage perfumes, because of comments saying it smells old. I have no regrets; it’s in my top 10 of Natura. It smells like a formal, mature man; it’s beautiful! Longevity is 7 hours on my skin: the first 4 hours are well-projected, then it stays very close to the skin. I don’t think it’s for conquering a lady, but you’ll always smell like a clean, masculine man. As a final note, there’s an aspect that reminded me a lot of the classic man.

I bought it blind and was surprised: the base smells like vetiver. The opening is spectacular, worthy of Van Cleef, but then that virile green note softens into a very clean, ‘pristine’ aroma that doesn’t generate compliments. After a few hours, you can tell it’s well-made, ideal if you like the barbershop scent. I recommend it for men over 50, where patchouli and vetiver fit perfectly. Note: 5/10 longevity (4 hours), low price. I’ll keep it in its original box to gift it for Father’s Day.

The mix of lemon, vanilla, and patchouli at first smells like the opening of the current Habit Rouge. Then, in the heart, it becomes more herbal and reminds me of Kaiak Expediçao from the same brand. Although it has classic notes, it feels modern; it’s an all-rounder (maybe a bit formal). Good option for daily wear, accessible price, and great performance in trail and longevity. Good proposal from Natura, I’d love to try the original formula.

I’m a fan of classics and own several, but this one just doesn’t work for me at all. Luckily, it’s cheap, so I didn’t lose much in the end, though it still feels like throwing money away. The only thing that went for it was the long-lasting claim, but don’t buy blind.

My father used to wear it; I feel it’s for people over 30. The herbal notes are noticeable, it doesn’t have much projection, and the longevity is moderate. It’s not intrusive, it’s pleasant. I don’t feel it as citrusy; maybe the herbal notes dominate more.

It’s a good fragrance, smells like a barbershop with a touch of wet forest and spice. If you like vintage scents, this is for you.

One of Natura’s worst, I suppose. I don’t know if my relative’s sample was expired, but it literally smelled like sweat.

Of course, it’s for serious, formal gentlemen with that short haircut, for the ‘old school’ lovers.

Very rich, spectacular for summer, and very affordable, worth it.
