Sr. N by Natura

My mom gifted me this years ago and it’s still in the closet. I hated it at first, but eventually grew to like it. It’s earthy, mature, and serious. I’m not sure what specific occasion to use it for, but I wear it after a shower to smell fresh or while working out to cover up sweat. For the price, it’s decent; I wouldn’t buy it again, but I recommend giving it a try if you want to sample it.

I think this is one of Natura’s worst. I’m not sure if my relative’s sample was expired, but god, it literally smelled like sweat.

Mr. N from Natura. It doesn’t match Fragrantica’s notes much. To me, it smells like cedar and wet earth at first with a citrus touch, then lavender and cardamomo. It reminds me of my parents’ and grandparents’ fragrances, like Agua Brava or Polo. I was surprised by the longevity and sillage; it has a noticeable itchiness that lasts up to 5 hours, especially on clothes. It smells herbal and clean, like Pravia Hay soap. You can say it’s vintage or ‘for old men,’ but I like it. It’s not on my Natura top tier, but it’s close. Still very masculine; nowadays I smell men’s perfumes that don’t smell much like men. Maybe that’s the charm of old fragrances: the certainty that they were made for men. Rating: 8/10.

I hesitated quite a bit before buying it, even though I like vintage perfumes, because of comments saying it smells old. I have no regrets; it’s in my top 10 of Natura. It smells like a formal, mature man; it’s beautiful! Longevity is 7 hours on my skin: the first 4 hours are well-projected, then it stays very close to the skin. I don’t think it’s for conquering a lady, but you’ll always smell like a clean, masculine man. As a final note, there’s an aspect that reminded me a lot of the classic man.

Just like the big brands with their classics (Chanel Pour Monsieur, Dior Eau Sauvage), Natura keeps this 1979 Mr. N alive. It’s an honest, clean, retro scent that projects freshness without seeking compliments, stepping away from the brand’s usual sweet and amber style. It smells like another era but in a pleasant way, evoking a tidy person like old colognes. It opens citrusy and herbal with strong projection, then settles into green notes with vetiver, leaving the initial lemon behind, while the vanilla base adds a slightly sweet touch. Longevity is moderate. If you love vintage, buy it blind—I did and I have no regrets. It’s an overlooked gem in the catalog, dismissed for being old, but its performance beats several current perfumes.

I like old school scents and own several, but I can’t handle this; I don’t like it at all. Luckily, it’s cheap, because honestly, I wasted the money; I’m not going to use it. It seems to have good performance, which is the only positive. Don’t buy it blind.

Of course, it’s for serious, formal gentlemen with that short haircut, for the ‘old school’ lovers.

At first I underestimated it, but I ended up liking it. It opens bright, citrusy, and herbal: first grapefruit with zest, then an acidic lemon mixed with something green like arugula or chicory that didn’t bother me. The citrus phase lasts longer than usual until the end, before the vetiver emerges without being earthy; maybe the vanilla and patchouli help tame it. It’s a vintage fragrance with no real comparisons. I’m not sure if it’s a barbershop scent, but as it dries down, a powdery soap note appears that’s a bit intrusive. It lasts about 5 to 6 hours before fading to skin scent. Projection is moderate to low, fresh and soapy at first, becoming slightly sharp due to that soap note that almost makes you sneeze. I don’t think it will generate compliments or be a conquest weapon; it leaves an impression of neatness, of someone who takes care of themselves. They often call it Natura’s worst, but that’s an unfair judgment. In my opinion, it does its job. It’s not for young people looking for sweetness, but for someone around fifty who goes to buy groceries with a wicker basket, chats with the neighbor, or talks about the weather. Is it worth it? In Argentina, there are better options for that price. ADDENDUM: After 25 hours, it’s still there, very strong on the skin. Another pleasant surprise: its persistence. Vetiver?

The mix of lemon, vanilla, and patchouli at first smells like the opening of the current Habit Rouge. Then, in the heart, it becomes more herbal and reminds me of Kaiak Expediçao from the same brand. Although it has classic notes, it feels modern; it’s an all-rounder (maybe a bit formal). Good option for daily wear, accessible price, and great performance in trail and longevity. Good proposal from Natura, I’d love to try the original formula.

I see it as formal, with an herbal opening, sweet and citrus notes. I sense lavender in the heart and vanilla at the end, with a classic chypre dry-down, a bit bitter but charming. At first, I didn’t like it much; it sounded intrusive with the lavender, but the curious thing is that I couldn’t stop smelling the sample and it captivated me more and more. Today it’s part of my daily work perfumes, evoking mystery in its somber, melancholic seriousness.

Intense green citrus fragrance, very well integrated, with the velvety note of patchouli, a pleasant surprise, really.
