Colonia Futura by Acqua di Parma, created by the house's perfumer in 2020, is an aromatic citrus fragrance for men and women. Its olfactory pyramid unfolds with top notes of lemon, sour lime, bergamot, grapefruit, and pink pepper; a floral and herbaceous heart composed of lavender and sage; and a woody, earthy base of vetiver.

It seems like a supreme quality delicacy, almost like an energizer. Ideal for workdays in spring and summer.
Smells great; it’s the original essence with a touch of mint that makes it super modern and unique. Longevity isn’t bad, good enough for dinner, but not for an all-nighter because the performance eventually runs out.
Vintage freshness modernized, that’s for sure. As for performance, it’s pathetic. Like most of what LVMH or whoever is releasing lately. This constant maximization of profits has no future; at some point, they’ll have to come up with a new model, because at this rate, we’ll end up buying alcohol diluted with water in Tetra Paks at the price of an organ. Otherwise, it’s good; it feels natural and the layers are structured. Upon application, it’s a quality citrus bomb, but it fades instantly, and once you step outside, only a plain vetiver with some lingering citrus remains. I bought it blind, but I won’t repurchase.
The scent is top-notch, just like the Essenza but with a minty touch that makes it modern and unique. The longevity is decent—good enough for dinner, but not for an all-nighter since the performance fades by the end.
I was very excited about the launch of Acqua di Parma Colonia Futura. Yes, 99% natural, yes, heritage for the future, yes, exquisite scent… Well, it has the exquisite scent; it smells phenomenal. From the critical opening, through the lavender and sage, to the vetiver, everything is wonderful, but it’s limited. It’s a pity that a cologne of this level needs a small bottle carried around to ‘refresh’ it. I don’t understand that. My perfumer said it’s a ‘skin’ thing, but I don’t think so. Why does the classic last so long and this one doesn’t? Are big brands taking advantage of loyal customers with a punch card approach, offering air in exchange for sales? I can’t even imagine or believe it. I own the whole line: Futura, deodorant, bath gel… do I now need hairspray to fix the scent? I’m on my second 180ml bottle and heading for a third. I didn’t even make it to the fourth. Sorry about that. Best regards, Miguel Suárez | 2022 01 20
I’m surprised it doesn’t have votes alongside Eau Sauvage; at first glance, it seemed to me to be way, way in that same line, both in scent and performance.
My second favorite from AdP. Smells like bitter citrus, top-tier quality. You don’t feel the alcohol; it’s not just a standard fresh cologne for everyday use, but specifically for the day. Best for spring and summer afternoons. Low projection, but if you let it settle, it envelops and accompanies you. The scent is exquisite, nothing sweet, very masculine. Worth it, even if just to enjoy privately.
My second favorite ADP cologne. Smells like bitter citrus, feels high-quality, and you don’t notice the alcohol. It’s not a fresh, everyday cologne; it’s perfect for spring and summer afternoons. Low projection, but if you apply more, it envelops and accompanies you. The scent is exquisite, not sweet at all, very masculine. Worth it, even if just for personal enjoyment.
Acqua di Parma Colonia Futura is a citrus, herbal, and woody fragrance. The opening is fresh and classic citrus, with the quality typical of Acqua di Parma colognes. Minutes later, fresh spices and a soft lavender aroma appear, leading to a woody phase with mineral and earthy vetiver that recalls Terre d’Hermès, but here the citrus dominates. It’s for daytime use, casual or formal, elegant and maturely styled, with classic influences like Eau Sauvage or Armani Eau Pour Homme, perfect for warm or temperate climates like spring, summer, and autumn. On me, it lasted 8 hours with regular sillage. I absolutely loved this cologne; it’s definitely the style I like, a scent that puts me in a good mood, sparkling and energetic. In my personal opinion, I liked it more than Colonia Pura and Colonia C.L.U.B, so I plan to buy it. Not recommended to buy blindly, but do try it if you like citrus and vetiver.
It’s for those who like it; it doesn’t smell bad, but it doesn’t stand out to me. It’s a masculine, clean scent without being soapy (think lavender), where a softened vetiver takes the lead, guided by sage. You can smell all the notes, which speaks to its natural quality and high value. It projects and lasts like a cologne: about 2 hours of projection with the citrus top and 4-5 hours of longevity. Ideal for spring/summer and autumn days. An adult, pleasant aroma, though it doesn’t reach the mastery of other scents from the house like Essenza, but we’re talking about one of the best in the world. Don’t judge by the bottle; test it outdoors, where it shines much more. Scent: 7, Performance: 6, Price: 6
Acqua di Parma Colonia Futura is citrusy, herbal, and woody. The opening is fresh and classic citrus with the usual quality. Minutes later, fresh spices and soft lavender emerge, leading to a mineral, earthy vetiver that reminds me of Terre d’Hermès, but here the citrus dominates. Great for daytime, casual or formal wear; elegant and maturely styled, influenced by classics like Eau Sauvage or Armani Eau Pour Homme. Perfect for warm or temperate climates: spring, summer, and autumn. On me, it lasted 8 hours with average sillage. I absolutely loved it; it’s one of my favorites, puts me in a good mood, and feels sparkling and energetic. For me, I preferred it over Colonia Pura and C.L.U.B, so I plan to buy it. Don’t buy blindly, but do try it if you like citrus and vetiver.
A summer love that left and came back to stay! Short review: a fragrance different from today’s sweet citrus. Opens with citrus and pink pepper, highlighting a bitter lemon that offers vitality. Then comes a green aromatic part with lavender and sage; here the lavender doesn’t smell soapy or vintage; quite the opposite, it gives it class and freshness. The bitter lemon and herbal part stay together to interact with a vetiver that’s almost smoky and woody, giving it body. I love it because it doesn’t smell vintage, but fresh-herbal and classy, very classy. I love it because there’s no sweetness at all. I love it because it smells natural like no other cologne. Sillage and projection are moderate for the first two hours, then it stays close to the skin for about six more. Romantic review: I met this fragrance in 2021 at the AdP boutique in CDMX. I was curious to try it since they mentioned a bitter lemon note, and since we have an ‘excess of sugar’ in perfumes nowadays, I was intrigued to smell something without the salesy sweetness of the moment. I could buy a tester that year, and after almost 20 ml of use, I sold it. Big mistake. I spent a year trying other citrus perfumes: Eau Sauvage Cologne, Dior Homme Cologne, DG Forever, Panda, Seahorse, Bvlgari Acqua, Ege, Eau des Sens, Wulong Cha, Trouble Fete… none had the magic of this cologne. I bought it again, this time in 180 ml. I had left an olfactory mark, and without realizing it, I spent a year looking for a substitute. It was a great decision to buy it back. Indeed, the first thing you receive is a bitter lemon, as if you were smelling the white part between the rind and the pulp. Immediately, an herbal part becomes present, giving it a mysterious look, like hay with bitter lemon. Afterwards, these two chords intertwine with the slightly smoky vetiver to generate a unique cologne on the market. You need a decant with you to reapply every 4 hours if you want to project and attract attention. I see no problem with that, since I enjoy every time the cycle starts. Longevity is over 8 hours on skin, but projection is moderate for two hours; however, upon reapplication, the magic returns. I’ve applied this to both my skin and clothes, and it seems to project much more when the skin heats up. It’s a fragrance for all year round, being more daytime and suitable for extreme heat. No one will smell like you, and the best part is that you won’t be using a citrus perfume with the 21st-century sweetness. It makes you feel elegant, classy, and above all, different.
Acqua di Parma Colonia Futura is the perfect cologne for lovers of the ADP DNA and vetiver. In fact, a bit more vetiver and higher concentration, and they could include it in the single-ingredient collection (like ADP Vetiver). I use it after shaving; it puts me in a good mood.
The Future Cologne is the perfect gift for fans of ADP’s DNA and vetiver. If they added a bit more vetiver and concentration, it would deserve its own single-ingredient batch in the collection like Vetiver. I use it after shaving, and it feels amazing.
Refined, classic in its performance, and that’s why I consider it ideal as a signature for spring and summer. You can feel the quality of the raw materials. Sparkling opening and a very pleasant transition between the heart and the vetiver base. It’s not a type of fragrance that demands a lot of sillage; it has a sober character. Longevity extends if you also apply it to your shirt, like all ADPs. And I say shirt because I can’t imagine wearing it with a sweatshirt, for example. I love it.
I won’t write a full review because I haven’t trained my nose yet, but I smelled it the other day at a store and it horrified me; it smelled almost like industrial solvent. Ugh, maybe it was a damaged bottle? It was at Primor, so it could be, but I don’t think it was expired. I’m a fan of classic citrus fragrances, and this was like a slap in the face.
I won’t write a review because I don’t have a trained nose, but I smelled it in a store and it horrified me; it smelled almost like industrial solvent. Ugh, maybe it was a spoiled sample? It was at a Primor, and the truth is it could have been, but I don’t think it was ‘stale’. I’m into classic and citrus fragrances, and this was like a slap in the face.
I think it’s horrible. I own the Colonia Essenza, a marvel (in my opinion, the best from the house), and this one is in my top favorites; today I tried the Colonia Futura, which everyone says has a more ‘youthful’ scent, but I don’t know how to explain it; it seemed extremely unpleasant to me. I think it’s the only ADP I hate; I even like it less than the Fico di Amalfi (I don’t like the fig note, but it’s well-crafted) or the extra sweet and feminine Mandorlo di Sicilia. I totally agree with @Neo777’s review.
I also detect an unusual, very strong note, which I suppose is the bitter lemon, that others define as ‘bitter’ or ‘synthetic’, which doesn’t quite please me; it’s a distinctive scent that, while not disgusting, keeps it from being one of my favorites. The worst is the performance: I usually don’t complain, but I believe in this cologne the longevity is among the lowest, disappearing quickly, maybe an hour? And the worst is that when it leaves, it leaves no trace. Unfortunately for me, this Colonia Futura is a no.
An ‘ITALIAN COLOGNE’. It’s the classic Acqua di Parma modernized, made with 98% natural ingredients. If you know the classic, you’ll recognize it by its similarity. Its opening stands out with earthy, slightly bitter vetiver, which then fades into the background, softening the fragrance. Great cologne and very masculine.
Some reviewers read the name and describe it as conditioned. For example, Megamare or Acqua di Sale don’t smell like the sea, yet people repeat them like parrots. Something similar happens with Colonia Futura; they sell it as the ‘modernization’ of a classic, portable for a teenager. Obviously, anyone who wants it can wear it, but the review should be a guide for those who can’t try it. The scent may be liked or not; I like it, but I admit it doesn’t fit today’s youth because, without being vintage, it has very present lavender and vetiver, giving it a 90s touch that has little to do with modernity. The aromatic quality is excellent; its freshness is elegant. It’s not a simple citrus cologne, nor a fougère, but I see it more for a man of middle age, already established. It will have more acceptance among men and women over 35. It’s more complex than it seems and might be liked more the more you use it, because it’s well-made and very well-balanced. It’s not ephemeral, neither in scent nor longevity, and although seduction isn’t its strong suit, it definitely leaves an olfactory mark: clean, fresh, and elegant. The ‘Futura’ part makes no sense, but aside from its age-related usage limitations and whether the name is appropriate or not, it’s a very good cologne.
Just discontinued by Acqua di Parma; the cologne Il Profumo is the substitute.
First impression: citrusy bay rum, super bitter, with a good dose of vetiver. As it dries down, lavender takes the lead, cleansing the scent and leaving a fresh, polished version.
