  • After so many years on the market, I decided to try the old Marine and I absolutely love it. It transports me back to the early 90s when my dad used to wear it. Today, it’s a must-have in my collection, a top-tier men’s fragrance.

  • It’s a bit heartbreaking because I remember having this back in 2002; it was bitter, metallic, herbal, and sour with some fern notes, not too marine but definitely salty. Compared to the new one, it’s not even close. The sad reality is the new version isn’t bad, but it’s not identical to the old one that was brutal and unique. I don’t know anything today that resembles it. What a shame the vintage era is so sweet and scary now anyway. Still, since it’s cheap, I’ll buy it next time I see it just to compare and use it. I didn’t buy it that time out of anger and disappointment over the reformulation, but that’s just how it is. It’s not the only victim of this.

  • The scent now has nothing to do with the classic. If anyone is looking for the original vibe, the closest thing I’ve found is Brut Océans.

  • As people say, the current version doesn’t look like the original from the late 80s and early 90s. When I was a kid, I loved it; it was one of my first passions. This new one smells even older than the original and lacks that charm. What a pity.

You can find Axe Marine in Ecuador, but it’s a nightmare to track down. You only catch it in certain southern cities because they import stock from Peru or Argentina.

  • Here’s the new Axe Marine from around here (I think it’s 2024/2025). It kicks off with that fresh marine vibe everyone loves, packed with lemon and cedar, but after half an hour it turns into an intense dusty cloud I wasn’t expecting. Honestly, it reminded me of YSL Jazz, which is pretty unusual. They should rename it something like ‘Stardust’, haha.
