I have a mental picture of my grandmother in the garden with her orange tree: leaves, flowers, and fruits. I used to love rubbing the leaves against my skin and burying my nose in them; the scent of orange leaves on skin was summer and that garden full of perfumes. I share this on my blog along with other Monegal and Tauer perfumes I’ve tried. Entre naranjos is citrusy and fresh, yet voluptuous, with the feel of a high-quality artisanal cologne. Orange peel, leaves, jasmine flowers, fresh branches, and finally the sweet ripe fruit, when its juices and aromas explode in the throat. Fresh, citrusy, and sweet, but with body; in my humble opinion, you only achieve that with top-tier ingredients. It lasts 4 to 5 hours on skin and is very potent during the first half-hour.
Among the oranges, Monegal’s fragrance feels more allegorical than realistic to me. The orange blossom is fantastical, almost synthetic, yet very well-made with good development. It evolves from fresh and sweet to dry and musky without falling into gourmand territory. At first, it smells of orange peel and maintains a white floral note, but it gives more of a dessert or citrus drink vibe. The best part is the dry-down, where the tree’s wood explodes and expands on the skin, leaving a very pleasant trail. Longevity and trail are moderate, with a unisex character. Rating: 7.
To me, Entre naranjos is an allegorical and imaginative fragrance. Monegal’s orange blossom isn’t very realistic; it’s a fantasy flower, and the scent feels synthetic, though it’s very well-made with good development. The aroma evolves from fresh and sweet to dry and musky; the sweetness is moderate without veering into gourmand. The opening smells great of orange peel, and the white floral note lingers, but it feels more like a dessert or citrus drink. The dry-down is the highlight: the tree’s wood explodes and spreads on the skin, ending in a very pleasant residual trail. Longevity and trail are moderate, with a unisex character. Rating: 7.
This citrus is the perfect unisex scent: it smells of neroli, petit grain, orange wood, oranges fallen from the tree—open and ripe—and even the dusty courtyard of that orchard. It has a touch of classic perfumery and an animalic note. Good longevity and a medium trail. The issue, at least for me, is the price, but honestly, there’s soul and craftsmanship in it, just like in all of Ramón Monegal’s perfumes.
This citrus is perfectly unisex; it smells of neroli, petit grain, and orange wood, like oranges fallen from the tree—ripe and open. It evokes that dusty, dry courtyard of a convent where they grow. It has that classic touch with a hint of animalic character. It lasts well and leaves a medium trail. The only downside is the price, but honestly, there’s soul and craftsmanship in it, just like in everything Ramón Monegal makes.
I ordered the 7-piece discovery set and this was the first one I tried. Although I’m not a huge fan of citrus scents, which sometimes feel too simple, I wanted to see what the house was up to. It’s a natural, comforting, and bright citrus, like a juicy orange with neroli and petit grain. It reminds me a lot of AdP Colonia, but with an orangey dry-down instead of fresh lemon. As I usually say about Monegal, the ingredients are top-notch. The trail and longevity are mediocre, nothing to write home about. I wouldn’t recommend it for the price, but if you love citrus and can overlook the cost, it’s worth it. 7/10
