  • A wonderful surprise, ideal if you’re new to perfumery without any complexes. Charriol, a brand I didn’t know in Spain, here delivers a perfume that touches excellence at a great price. You couldn’t expect less with Michel Almairac involved. The inspiration is clear: Tom Ford’s Black Orchid, but while that one is feminine, Royal Gold focuses on men with a woody base, without losing its exotic and gourmand touch (almond, tonka, iris). It offers sophistication and a pricey aroma, ideal for cool temperatures. Its potency surpasses Tom Ford’s: it’s an all-day perfume with excellent longevity that never fades and leaves a delicious trail. In short, a piece of perfume that deserves to be more known.

  • Ask someone what friendship is or ask yourself; dozens of poets have tried without a definitive answer. Some say it doesn’t exist or that you only have three or four friends; others say anyone kind counts. This blog is incredible: I’ve met people with kindness and a demeanor hard to find in real life, earning their respect. Sejano 77 is one of them. Thanks to a sample from his collection, I got to try Charriol Royal Gold. The great Bofifa talked about it and sparked my curiosity. Three sprays are enough to appreciate it. At first, it’s strong, intrusive, sweet, aromatically overloaded, and intense: a gourmand-oriental hammer that strikes without mercy. The top and heart notes create a dense, opulent scent. Over time, an elegant touch emerges with a delicious trail. I recommend it to lovers of sweet scents. The Charriol house offers fragrances at a good price with excellent performance.

  • I picked this up used on ML (Chile) just for the bottle and took a blind leap of faith; if I didn’t like it, I’d give it to my wife, but it absolutely blew my mind! It’s exquisite and one-of-a-kind. I don’t own any niche perfumes and I don’t even know Tom Ford, but the closest comparison is Mancera Red Tobacco, though it reminds me of my CDNI for women. It shares notes with this delicious Charriol Gold. I think it’s one of the few that smell niche at designer prices (think Bentley Intense, Encre Noir, Zino, CDNI, Gres Etat de Grace). Not something to buy blindly, but since it’s by M. Almairac, I decided to go for it. The trail and longevity are above average. Perfect for over 35s with personality. Totally unisex and timeless: autumn/winter, but also cool spring/summer nights. If you’re looking for a Black Orchid clone, I recommend Smoky Spice by Parfum AE, a new Arabic brand. Greetings from Chile.
