Boss Alive Eau de Parfum by Hugo Boss is an aromatic woody fragrance for women. Launched in 2020, the nose behind this composition is Annick Menardo. The top notes reveal Madagascar vanilla, plum, cinnamon, apple, and blackcurrant; the floral heart is built on sambac jasmine and thyme; while the base notes anchor the essence with woods, sandalwood, cedar, and olive.

  • Ideal fragrance for spring or autumn, very normal, for daily wear and the office. Nothing elegant, very casual. The scent is rich and clean but lacks personality. It didn’t bother me, but I won’t buy it again; I think there are office scents like this available at a better price and higher quality.

  • Few reviews for this perfume, but it’s worth noting that it’s powerful with an effervescent opening that transitions into a woody base with a very pleasant fruity sweetness. It has great performance: three sprays and it lasts all day with a significant sillage. It’s quite linear, but that woody and sweet scent is intoxicating. The plum is soft, the vanilla too, and the woods are well-balanced. There isn’t a single annoying note; it’s harmonious. It’s perfect for romantic and modern women. It’s not a classic scent; it’s quite avant-garde. Anick Menardo blends the fruity and woody notes very well here; both she and Hugo Boss have done a great job. An ethereal and standout perfume.

  • What I like most is its opening: a mix of freshness wrapped in a very pleasant warm vanilla. As the hours pass, it becomes somewhat generic and I’m less interested in it. Still, I appreciate that in the ad campaign the models are smiling and not hypersexualized or looking lobotomized. Also, almost all of them are dressed in office-appropriate clothes, which is exactly what it conveys to me: something easy, everyday, and unpretentious. Both the sillage and longevity are quite moderate.

I absolutely loved this fragrance. I don’t think it will go down in history as the best or most innovative, but it has special performance and a unique scent, very spicy. The opening is quite fruity and generic, but over time it becomes intense, spicy, and has a unisex touch that makes it really interesting. I must say I took a huge risk buying the 80ml blind. Anyway, I’d do it a thousand times over.

To me, this fragrance is a delight. I don’t think it’s the masterpiece or the most innovative in history, but it has a special performance and scent, very spicy. The opening is quite fruity and generic, but over time it becomes intense and spicy, with a unisex touch that makes it very interesting. I took a huge risk buying it blind in 80ml, but I’d do it a thousand times over.

  • Oh! How many expectations I had based on everything I’d heard about this little fragrance. I’m sorry to say they all dissolved on a blotter and then got buried on my skin. I assume it’s just not for me, but the journey on my body is a sweet, vanilla-forward opening where spicy pepper notes soon emerge… and literally ten minutes in, I smell like room freshener. I’d rate it as my second disappointment of the year, right after L’Interdit Intense.

  • It smells good, though it’s undeniable that it’s not very innovative. I suppose, like many fashion brands lately, Boss didn’t want to take any risks. The opening is fruity with vanilla, featuring a pleasant but generic plum. The dry-down is more interesting: white floral, spicy, and woody with character, though still not groundbreaking and very similar to YSL Libre. Anick Menardo did a good job; it’s a nice perfume, suitable for any occasion, and very long-lasting, but it’s not something I’d buy. Rating 6.5/10. Longevity 7.5/10. Sillage 7/10. Value 7/10. Versatility 7/10. Packaging 6/10. I wouldn’t buy it.

  • It smells good, though it’s nothing innovative, which is undeniable. I suppose, as happens with many trendy perfumes lately, Boss didn’t want to take risks. At first, it smells fruity with vanilla, highlighting plum; pleasant but generic. The dry down is more interesting: white floral, spicy, and woody with character, though it resembles YSL Libre a lot. Anick Menardo did a good job; it’s pretty, great for all day, and very long-lasting, but it’s not something I’d buy. Scent 6.5/10, longevity 7.5/10, sillage 7/10, value for money 7/10, packaging 6/10. Would I buy it again? No, I didn’t.

Alive isn’t a bold gamble, but it definitely caught me off guard. At first, it smells like alcohol and a bit masculine, which made me hesitate, but then it softens into something fruity, sweet, and fresh with a metallic and powdery touch that didn’t fully convince me. The real magic happens later: the apple and alcohol blend into a cider scent with ozonic notes, very nostalgic of 90s perfumes. In the heart, it reminds me of Boss Orange, but here the apple and plum take charge, with a touch of sweet cinnamon and spice. The best part is its longevity—about 8 hours on me, with a good trail for the first 4. It’s youthful and carefree, perfect for relaxed days or semi-formal gatherings; the name suits it perfectly.

Although Alive isn’t a risky bet, it caught me by surprise. At first, it smells like alcohol and a bit masculine, which held me back, but then it softens into something fruity, sweet, and fresh with a metallic and powdery touch that didn’t fully convince me. The real change happens later: the apple and alcohol blend into a cider-like scent with ozony notes, very nostalgic of 90s perfumes. In the heart, it reminds me of Boss Orange, but here the apple and plum take charge, with a touch of sweet cinnamon and spice. The best part is that it lasts a long time, about 8 hours in my case, with sillage for the first 4. It’s youthful and carefree, ideal for quiet days or semi-formal gatherings; the name suits it perfectly.

  • I love it; it’s sweet, but I don’t find it long-lasting. I bought it blindly and I like it a lot… but on my skin, I only notice it at the beginning. It has a different scent, I can’t explain it, but for me, it’s good.

  • It reminds me of Exotic Orchid by Victorio & Lucchino, but more refined, woody, dry, and unisex in the dry-down. Both share blackcurrants, sambac jasmine, and vanilla. While the V&L one stays fruity and juicy longer, slightly sweeter at the end due to almond and vanilla, in Alive the fruits are eclipsed by the woody and cinnamon accords. I like it; it’s nice but nothing extraordinary. Cheerful, informal, pleasant. Almost certainly if you like one, you’ll like (and love more) the other.

  • I have mixed feelings. It’s not original, but I enjoyed the sweet and fruity opening, especially when the cinnamon takes center stage. An hour later, the overly sweet vanilla takes over again, and in the dry-down, it smells like Provençal kitchen spices that last 6 hours. I guess the thyme doesn’t work on my skin; if I were to wear it, only in temperate seasons and informal settings. Pleasant: 5/10, Interesting: 6/10, Versatile: 7/10, Original: 7/10.

  • From Alive, it’s cinnamon and more cinnamon, with so much sweetness it’s cloying… It’s warm, maybe for very cold winters. It’s not one of my favorites and I wouldn’t buy it again.

  • I wore it today and although it smells good, its longevity and sillage are terrible. It reminds me of ‘Memorie d’una Odeur’ by Gucci, perhaps due to the aromatic shrubs, chamomile, thyme, sandalwood, cedar, and jasmine. Both give me peace.

  • It feels strange to me. I know that wearing it means I won’t blend in; it feels exclusive. I don’t want trendy fragrances because I don’t want to stand out, so I loved ALIVE. At first, I smelled a lot of jasmine with wood, which is shocking for someone who prefers sweet scents. As time passes, the sweetness becomes overwhelming and the vanilla lingers. It lasts about 5 hours and isn’t as strong anymore.

  • It’s Laguna by Salvador Dalí with a different name and bottle. It’s rich, well-vanillized, and a soft gourmand. It’s not heavy, but I wouldn’t wear it in summer; it fits better in autumn or early spring. It has great sillage: I put it on my wrist and while walking downtown, I could hear it trailing behind me like someone else was wearing it. It lasts quite a while and is still noticeable even after a shower. Laguna does the same thing at a lower price, and my mom always wore it. It’s nice but not original.

  • I was curious to try it because I’m a fan of Emma Roberts 😬😂, but honestly, I wouldn’t buy it. I tested it downtown and at first, it smelled like grapes or wine, probably the blackcurrants. Then the vanilla and cinnamon became unbearable and even gave me a headache. Definitely not for me.

  • Fruity, woody cinnamon, and a hint of thyme that sometimes lingers. I wore it to my new job and I love it; it makes me feel great and reminds me of my long-awaited V/S Versus. I know not everyone likes woods, but outside of work, the criticism doesn’t hold up.

  • Not for me. I tried it because a perfumer recommended it, not because I chose it myself, and I really didn’t like it. It smells like a mix of Zara’s fruity notes with some woody and cinnamon undertones, creating a scent I absolutely zero for.

  • NOT MY THING. I tried it because a perfumer recommended it, not because I chose it myself, and I didn’t like it at all. It’s like a mix of Zara’s Fruity with something woody and cinnamon, but it creates a scent I absolutely don’t enjoy.

  • Mundolores

I thought it looked appealing based on its pyramid. I tried it dry and on skin. I always try on skin, but with Alive I had to try it dry because on skin it was unpleasant. Dry: sweet, fruity, and vanilla opening, then wait for the cinnamon. Plums and blackcurrants fused with apple acidity, then the thyme. It’s not subtle; it seems like a branch is stuck to your nose; the spicy woody note of the grass is noticeable. The base is intense, sweet woods, but it ends dry and bitter. On skin: nothing like the dry version. It’s a chaotic disaster. Synthetic vanilla and cinnamon like liqueurs that end up in a very strong medicinal nuance. That’s the only thing I notice. Although it smells good dry, I won’t buy it due to incompatibility with my skin. Performance is excellent: more than 8 hours on skin and more than 48 hours dry.

They let me try it at the perfume counter after the launch, and I loved it dry and on skin: exquisite sweet woods. I bought it on discount, but it’s not like I remembered; there’s an acidic or strong note that drowns everything. It’s improving, but at first, it’s almost unbearable. I use it daily for work, and although I’ve gotten compliments, on my skin I don’t sense the woods; it smells sweet and spicy, maybe because of the thyme. I wouldn’t buy it again. It lasts about 5 hours with little projection.

  • A. S. Flores

I like it a lot; it’s elegant and sweet without being cloying. I see it for fall, winter, and spring. I used it today with 80% humidity and it worked wonderfully, no overwhelming effects.

  • I bought it as a sample and I’m a huge fan. It smells like vanilla and sweetness without being cloying. It smells like a goddess, like elegance. It’s one of my favorites. That thyme note on my skin gives it a special touch. Pity it doesn’t last very long and doesn’t leave a trail.

  • I love it. Even though they don’t say it, I detect a hint of coconut between the soft vanilla and cardamom. It’s executed superbly. It’s sweet, but I use it great on humid days; the vanilla is exquisite and doesn’t overwhelm me, which happens with other vanilla perfumes.

  • Sir_GregMan

Sweet and vanilla with cinnamon woods. You can tell there’s fruit in there. I like it a lot for a woman; I tried it and found it very interesting, and my sister uses it too.

  • I wear it and get compliments. It has a subtle, elegant sweetness, and when it dries down, it leaves a powdery trail that I love. It’s my third bottle and my signature scent. I live in Colombia, a tropical country, and it’s never cold or extremely hot enough to avoid wearing it. I’m looking for something like this—powdery but more sensual for the night.

  • catalina_bx

One of my favorites; I’ve repurchased it. It’s sweet and cozy, nothing cloying. I feel elegant when I wear it; it was my signature scent for a long time, but watch out: it’s not for those looking to stand out or wear strong scents.

  • Boss Alive Eau de Parfum: My experience. I was surprised, even though it’s not super innovative. From the start, the opening is gorgeous: sweet, fruity, creamy, with that vanilla touch I love. The best part is it doesn’t have that harsh alcohol hit that sometimes ruins the first few seconds; from the beginning, it feels warm and well-made. It lasts quite a while on my skin; after 4 or 5 hours I can still detect it, and although it softens later, it’s still there. In a world where so many perfumes disappear in half an hour, this is a huge win. When I buy a perfume, I want to enjoy it and feel it, and with Boss Alive, that’s exactly what I get. Is it super original? No, but it’s not always necessary. It smells rich, has good longevity, and makes me feel good. For me, that’s enough, and that’s why I liked it so much. I’d definitely use it again without thinking twice.

  • Boss Alive EDP: Surprised me, even if it’s not revolutionary. The opening is gorgeous: sweet, fruity, creamy, and vanilla, without that harsh alcohol hit that ruins everything. Feels great from the very first second. On my skin, it lasts hours; I can still smell it at 4 or 5, though softer. In a world of perfumes that fade fast, this is gold. I want to enjoy it, and with this, I do. It’s not original, but it smells good, lasts long, and makes me feel good. I’d buy it again without hesitation.

  • Elenperfume

Spicy, woody, and sweet. I don’t get the complaints because for me, it’s a dream. Smells like a road trip weekend with a cup of pumpkin spice coffee—warm and comforting. Lasts well and is perfect for the office.
