They gave me a sample and I didn’t like it. At first, I smelled Argentine mosquito repellent (the Off!), then came the anise scent, which isn’t my note. The opening is intense, but a few minutes later it softens a lot and stays close to the skin. I wouldn’t buy it: the scent doesn’t appeal to me and the quality seems very poor in intensity and longevity.
I’ll start by saying I was eager to know this fragrance and didn’t know the original LL. I wanted to try it because I like the combination of anise with flowers like rose and violet, and this has some of those notes. On my skin: at first, I felt potent anise and licorice, sweetened by the cherry, seeming like a syrup. Then the violet appeared and the dry-down was the best part, disappearing that ‘syrup’ sensation to leave a powdery and sweet effect, with violet, tonka bean, and cherry predominating. I think it’s an interesting perfume and I’ve liked it. Nice to meet you, Lolita Lempicka.
I was given a sample and didn’t like it. At first, it smells like a mosquito repellent sold in Argentina (the Off!), then comes the anise, a note I don’t enjoy. The opening is intense, but a few minutes later it softens significantly and sits right on the skin. I wouldn’t buy it; the scent doesn’t appeal to me, and the quality seems very poor in terms of intensity and longevity.
I never liked the original version: I didn’t like sweet perfumes and licorice turned me off. And here I am, at almost 42 years old, after buying this Lolita Lempicka version 🙈. Now my body and the cold crave sweetness, and after testing samples, I opted to buy it. The opening of candied and fortified cherries is optimal for winter. After an hour, I felt something deeper, almost an ‘incense’ phase (which isn’t listed), and now, about 6 hours after applying it moderately (just 4 sprays), it’s still there, projecting about 30 cm. I won’t say it’s the perfume of my life, but right now I do feel comfortable wearing it, especially with a good warm sweater. If you’re looking for something warm, sweet but with depth and not just candy, this could be a good option.
When I encountered it in a ‘blind buy’, I was speechless for the first few minutes like a kid watching cartoons. The evolution captivates me: after spraying, I feel like I’m entering a fantasy world with ivy wrapping the trees and, in the background, deer jumping. A fortified cherry alongside a subtle violet invites me to that mystical forest, though they still accompany me. The iris is that path of yellow tiles and the praline musk with patchouli is the emerald city. A breeze of licorice comes and goes. It’s the perfume I’d use as Glinda from Oz, surely, in fact, it’s the one I want to spray on my pillow to sleep. It gives me charm, not nightmares, and lasts all night until the next day. 🕯️ 9/10.🔥
I see magic in it 🪄. I haven’t tried the unreformulated original, but this scent seems precious to me. It’s an aroma where I notice anise and violet with a sweet fortified sensation but very wearable, being quite particular compared to the whole market. It lasts 5 hours very noticeably with a trail. They painted it as weak… well, what must the original be like, oh my god, haha.
As a widow of the original, I’m here to say this new version is the closest to the old one. I had no desire to try it, let alone buy it, because several disappointments with new Lolitas had discouraged me, but when I smelled this reformulation, I almost cried from emotion; it was the closest, it just lacks that remedy note to be 100% original. I didn’t hesitate to buy it and I have no regrets, just hoping they don’t reformulate it again because this version is 90% identical to the first Manzanita.
As the widow of the original Lolita, I’m here to confirm this new version is the most faithful to the classic. I had no desire to try it after so many disappointments with new Lolitas that bore no resemblance, but smelling this reformulation almost brought me to tears; it’s the closest match, just missing that touch of ‘remedy’ to be 100% original. Don’t hesitate to buy it—I have no regrets. I only hope they don’t reformulate it again because this version is 90% identical to the first Manzanita.
This 2023 Le Parfum version isn’t sweet; it’s spiced, earthy, and fortified. I love its violet scent, the wet roots of licorice, the powdery iris, and that exact hint of anise. It has a pleasant, wearable cherry that isn’t too sweet, unlike the Mon Premiers which, for me, are unbearable, synthetic, and kill the magic of the classic Lolita. It doesn’t list ivy, but you can tell, which is why it comes in its iconic enamel bottle. The scent takes you to the nighttime garden from the original ad, with a seductive and mysterious nymph, a dark fairy tale. A dream come true, enjoying a fragrance very close to the 1997 classic.

It has a pleasant, wearable cherry that isn’t too sweet, unlike the Mon Premier versions which, for me, are unbearable, synthetic, and destroy the magic of the classic Lolita. Ivy isn’t listed, but it’s noticeable, which is why it comes enameled in its iconic bottle. The aroma transports you to the night garden from the original ad, with a seductive and mysterious nymph—a dark fairy tale. A dream come true, finally enjoying a fragrance very close to the 1997 classic.
I know it’s not a competition, but I prefer Mon Premier. Le Parfum lacks a bit of sweetness, leans more unisex, has way more anise and licorice, and the cherry (which I love in Mon Premier) is almost absent here. Mon Premier feels fresher and seems ideal for summer if citrus and tropicals aren’t your thing. Le Parfum is more autumnal and dense, yet surprisingly has worse performance than Mon Premier (this caught me off guard). If I had to choose, I’d stick with Mon Premier: it’s more versatile and offers better performance.
I know it’s not a race, but Mon Premier suits me better. Le Parfum lacks a touch of sweetness for my taste; it leans more unisex with tons of anise and licorice, and that cherry note which is a hit in Mon Premier is barely noticeable here. Mon Premier is fresher, ideal for summer if you don’t mind citrus and tropical vibes. Le Parfum is more autumnal and dense, but surprisingly has worse longevity than Mon Premier (it left me speechless). If I had to choose (and I won’t, because I love Lempickas), I’d stick with Mon Premier: more versatile and better performing.
