I don’t find much similarity with By the Fireplace when testing them on the arms. They follow the same line, but By the Fireplace is sweeter, a smoky sweet. In Bohemian Oud, the note that stands out most is cacao, followed by incense, pepper, and leather; I don’t find vanilla here. It’s a good scent, niche quality. If you like its notes, it will be for you. I think the similarity is around 80%.
I bought it because of the hype that it’s a clone of By the Fireplace, which, by the way, I don’t know either. To me, this ‘perfume’ doesn’t work as a perfume; basically, it smells burnt, smoky, and incense-y, sometimes a bit sweet like powdered breakfast chocolate. It’s an interesting olfactory experience, but it’s not suitable for dressing up and smelling like a classy diva. It could smell like a cabin with fire remnants and a burning incense stick. It’s not for perfuming a person, maybe for ambienting a place. To be a personal perfume, it should carry more floral or fruity notes, like La Nuit de Tresor. It seems unfinished. I grabbed it out of impulse and I’m regretting it; even though it’s cheap, I don’t know what to do with it and it’s wasted money. The longevity is very good with a nice trail.
It’s a strong perfume due to the incense, leaning towards a masculine side, though everyone has their own taste. The sillage lasts over 8 hours, and the projection is normal for about 2 hours. It’s very pleasant and warm, but honestly not very versatile, definitely for fall and winter.
The opening is puuuf, bad. On my skin, I feel a note of burnt plastic, but in the heart phase, it starts to get very good: a smell of cacao, incense, and a very potent toasted vanilla. The oud shines by its absence, or at least I don’t notice it. The projection and longevity are incredible; it lasts more than 12 hours on my skin without needing reapplication. It projects well for the first 5-6 hours. I’ve tested it in the heat and it lasts forever. It smells like a niche and quality perfume. It’s not a blind buy, better to test first, especially for untrained noses. Unbeatable price-quality. For me, it’s a work of art from Zara.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, but not for everyone’s taste. In my case, love at first sniff, but I DO NOT recommend buying without smelling it first (they are the kind that create love/hate). I’ve fallen in love with it, but I’ll keep it until fall-winter. I haven’t tried By the Fireplace, but it reminds me of Mugler’s A Angel and Black Phantom, so if you like those, this could be a cheap and good option. On my crocodile skin, it grabs very well and the performance is quite good. It’s a wonderfully unisex perfume that leans more towards ‘masculine’ (though I’m over that). It will look much better in the cold; in the heat, it’s easy to not like it. Also, strangely, I don’t notice anything artificial about it. The scent and performance, considering the price-quality ratio, are a 10 for me, but I insist, it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea: Hail to Zara for taking the risk!
Simply fascinated. It’s a new scent for me and I understand the controversy over whether it’s masculine or smells like burnt plastic. I also don’t know if it’s a dupe for Replica, but what I do know is that I’ve loved it. You have to resist the initial burst because it’s a powerful mix of leather and incense. The magic is in the dry-down: an exquisite blend of vanilla, cacao, and leather. Totally unisex and dead sexy.
I can’t describe the first impression, I just know I jumped for joy! What a gem from Zara! I bought it because I love By the Fireplace and wanted to see if they were similar. Brutally yes! I compared them and the similarity is 90%. Given the price of Zara versus the original, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to choose this one. I’ll use it for daily wear and the original for special occasions. On my skin, it smells the same: incense, chestnuts, and vanilla when dry. I don’t notice a burnt plastic smell, though every nose is different. The longevity is a showstopper. If you don’t have the budget for the original, don’t hesitate to buy this gem that smells like a niche fragrance and lasts just as long.
I used it the first time with doubts because of how weird it is, especially at the start. But over time, as it settled on my skin, it became a gradual, romantic, and intense love affair. Now it’s one of my favorites. I still haven’t decided if it’s more for evening/night, but it follows me faithfully and gets sexy all day long. Even though I’m not an expert, it smells like an expensive, exquisite, and fine perfume.
I ordered the Bohemian Oud from Zara attracted by notes like pepper, incense, oud, and cacao. I’m looking for powerful, spicy, salty, and personality-driven perfumes. After reading reviews and giving it a shot, huge disappointment: on my skin, it smells just like VS’s Vanilla, hyper-sweet. Even though I already use the Zara one, this is on another level of cloyingness, nothing like it. I’ve had good experiences with other Zara scents, but this isn’t for me. I’ll keep buying for the quality and price, but I recommend testing it on skin before purchasing.
Bought it blindly based on reviews looking for something different. At first, the incense was way too strong for me and didn’t convince me, so I left it in the closet. A month later, I tried it again and absolutely loved it: it’s sweet and delicious.
I fell in love; I can’t believe I found such a special and affordable fragrance. It appeared months ago at Zara, catching my eye, but there were no stores with stock in Valencia, so I passed. Yesterday, while walking in my hometown of Granada, I went into Zara prompted by my nephew, and while we were in line, there it was. I needed to try it, and the magic was instantly unleashed. The first few minutes are intrusive, smelling of pure church incense, which I already liked, but during my afternoon walk, the scent evolved: the incense softened, it was no longer church, now it was incense with sprinkled cocoa and a delicious vanilla that made me feel wrapped in warmth. I like it this way even in August. It’s a delicious and cozy scent that makes me want to smell myself constantly and curl up contentedly. I don’t find it strong or impossible to wear; rather, it’s a soft scent that accompanies you. Slightly spiced, yes sweet, but not synthetic. It lasts about 6 hours on my skin, with light projection, but the scent makes up for everything. It stayed in my collection; late in the afternoon, I had to take it home. It’s not an elegant scent, but it could perfectly be someone’s personal signature. It evokes the same feeling as L by Lolita Lempicka or Choco Musk, without being the same, making me feel the same way: at home.
I adore it. I grabbed it on the first or second day of its launch, spotting it by chance, without reviews or knowing if it resembled others… I just smelled it and it was love at first sniff. I love the opening, that wonderful incense scent that gradually sweetens with the cocoa. On my skin, it has very good longevity; on clothes, well, let’s not even talk about it… until you wash it. I don’t find it masculine at all. I’d buy it again without a single doubt or hesitation.
It smells like church incense with a very sweet cocoa added. Curiously, I love it; it’s very addictive, but for personal enjoyment only. I wouldn’t wear it out in public; I don’t see it as versatile. Totally unisex and winter-appropriate. Very good longevity with moderate sillage.
Although it’s compared to Fireplace, it’s not its dupe. It’s in the same style, but they aren’t the same: Fireplace is smokier, while this one is sweeter. It’s a very pleasant and sweet scent with good skin longevity for the price. You get a product with good performance, even though Fireplace has higher quality. In short, it’s an inspiration, not a dupe.
Addictive fragrance. One of the few ouds I’ve tried that I’d actually wear. Maybe I’ll buy it. I see it as a Good Girl with oud or a Black Opium with oud… It’s feminine, but not girly. I don’t see it as masculine. Let everyone wear what they want…
Cocoa and incense… a very pleasant and addictive fragrance… luckily, it’s back on sale in Spain.
No beating around the bush: it smells like a Faber-Castell wooden pencil. It transports me back to childhood, when I’d sharpen my pencils to draw… excellent longevity.
It smells like church incense, very penetrating. There might be cocoa in the dry down, but it’s not chocolate at all; rather, it adds a sweetness that ends up being cloying. I wouldn’t wear it.
I bought it blind because ‘By The Fireplace’ is my favorite perfume, but I don’t wear it daily. Since it’s affordable, I sprayed it without smelling it first. They aren’t identical, but I absolutely love them; it’s elegant and has good longevity. It’s quite sweet, so for me, it’s a winter scent. The smell can get a bit heavy, but it’s good, pleasant, and budget-friendly for cold days.
I tried it in-store and fell in love the moment I smelled it. Smelled like intense incense, like walking into an Orthodox church. I didn’t want to buy anything but ended up getting it anyway. Spectacular opening; I wanted something special and unique. Unfortunately, after an hour, there was no trace of incense left, just vanilla with cocoa. I was very disappointed so I returned it. It wouldn’t be a bad perfume if I hadn’t had such high expectations, but it’s frustrating to see how it disappears. I prefer linear fragrances that don’t break your heart. If you like evolving scents and are willing to smell like a church before dessert, here’s a great option.
It’s a gorgeous fragrance. The opening is a bit generic, but then a rich aroma settles in, blending oud, incense, and fresh herbs, ending up very clean. You just need to be patient, but after a few minutes, it’s totally worth it. 🕉️
Decent and long-lasting oud. Very harsh at first, the opening is intense, but then it settles into something rich and fresh. Quite fascinating. Very similar to Lattafa’s Badee al Oud, another gem. 100% recommended.
Blind buy searching for church incense and OMG, I loved it. It’s church incense at first, but then it turns sweet and that takes over. I wish there was a perfume with that incense from start to finish.
I loved it when I tried it, but when they told me it smelled like a pencil-shavings bin… it’s true, it smells like that. 😆 They totally ruined it for me. It now lives in someone else’s home.
I loved it. It doesn’t smell like what everyone else usually wears, that trendy scent everyone is wearing. For me, it’s not. You have to give it time because the incense is strong at first, but then it develops nuances that I adore. It has personality and stands out from the crowd. Clothes smell good for days.
Smells exactly like church incense and lasts for hours on my skin; it just won’t fade.
Opens with smoke, like standing next to a brazier, then vanishes in seconds to give way to woods and sweets, like roasting marshmallows on aromatic wood. I was fascinated by it. I already own 5 Zara perfumes, and this is my favorite. Lasts 8 hours on my skin and on clothes until I wash them.
I love it. The opening is an intense, dark church incense. Once it dries on my skin, it becomes very sweet—cocoa and vanilla with incense undertones. Yes, the scent is a bit aggressive, but in a good way. I barely notice the oud. Good perfume, lasting a decent 6-7 hours.
I’ve been waiting to try this and was hoping for colder weather to buy it. Finally got my hands on it. That blend of incense, cocoa, and spices is brutal. It awakens my transcendent side and the perverse one that can’t stop eating chocolate. People say it leaves a great trail. The longevity could be better, but the opening is very impactful. For €20, it’s a great buy. If you like dark and spicy perfumes, give it a shot.
Armani Privé Bois d’Encens mixed with chocolate notes
A fragrance that I liked at first sniff and didn’t hesitate to bring home; the opening is potent, mixing incense and chocolate. After about 15-20 minutes, it becomes a softer aroma, vanilla-chocolate. Ideal for cold climates and casual use; in my case, I pair it with Zara’s Tender Amber. Just be careful with the number of sprays: 6-7 hours on skin longevity, 1.5 to 2 hours projection. Price 10/10, longevity 10/10, projection 9/10.
In the opening, it smells identical to By the Fireplace. But as it dries down, the scent splits into two paths: Zara’s is more monotonous and lacks evolution, while By the Fireplace takes an evolution while maintaining its base.
It’s like having a campfire, a pot of hot colacao warming up. I love it. Sophisticated and winter-only. I usually wear it on cool summer days when I miss the sweet winter bombs that the suffocating heat won’t let me use. Gentlemen, this is a beast. The only regret is buying the 30ml. The big bottle is coming with me for the fall/winter season. If you have the chance, don’t miss out, try it.
Incense and cocoa, what could possibly go wrong?
This is my favorite Zara perfume; I suffer every time they discontinue it (usually it comes back, now the 30ml is online). I started exploring incense perfumes with this. In the opening, I notice a ton of black pepper that turns into a delicious vanilla-chocolate incense 🤤🤤. The longevity isn’t extraordinary, but it sticks well to the skin, just like the projection. People have complimented it on me, but I feel it myself and I love it 😍😍. To me, it doesn’t resemble By the Fireplace; I understand they share the same vibe, but this is more chocolatey incense and less burnt vanilla wood. As I said, it’s one of my must-haves ❤️
I bought it blindly based on the amazing reviews, but I have to admit it disappointed me. I was expecting leather or oud notes that were completely absent. It felt cloying and very synthetic, and I wasn’t sold on that sweet mix of incense and chocolate which sounds good on paper. The performance is poor and it fades to skin-level almost immediately. In short, nothing special. I think it’s the weakest of the entire Zara Chapter 4 collection.
Perfect for a rainy, gray winter day. Its scent evokes the wood of church pews, an old trunk, or an old ship. It makes you connect with something transcendent.
What a rich perfume. Spiced, sweet, and I get a bit of a boozy vibe. The cocoa lingers much more than the leather in the dry down. I’ve been aging it since last year, but my only gripe is that it doesn’t last nearly as long as the ingredients suggest; it should be an Arabic bomb, but you have to reapply very quickly. I love the scent, but will I repurchase? Unfortunately, no, due to the poor longevity.
I walked into Zara with some free time and headed straight to my favorite section. I was drawn in by the notes; I love incense but had never been convinced by anything until I started looking for something for fall/winter. The opening is a brutal incense, but once it dries down, it becomes a woody vanilla with cocoa. There’s something extra that makes it elegant, sexy, and distinct. It lasted my entire shift on my wrist. I already have it in my collection and I miss it…
Smells like pure incense. Out of all the Oud line, this was the one that didn’t hit me too hard.
