I really liked this fragrance I received as a gift; it’s very floral. If you don’t have issues with unisex lotions, go for it: lots of rose with a significant citrus opening that settles into a slightly weak woody mossy base. Perfect for daytime or the office—it’s not disturbing or intrusive. The floral notes are addictive; it’s a rose, but a masculine rose, totally unisex.
Oh my god, it has such a heavy musk load that I almost dropped the atomizer. Horribly ordinary to me. It reminds me of a cheap perfume with a terrible, tamed musk. Yes, there’s a very prominent rose. The sillage and longevity are powerful, but it’s a complete no for me. Out of the seven I tried from this house, I’m sticking with Mandarine Sultane, the only one I liked by far.
This is exactly the same as Montale’s Roses Musk, nothing more, nothing less. It’s so literally identical that I think they used the same liquid to fill both bottles 😅.
For my nose, Roses Musk and Intense Roses Musk by Montale are almost identical, except the latter is more intense and longer-lasting. This Black Musc by Alexandre J. smells just like the Intense: sweet, dense, high-quality musky rose at a similar price point.
A good friend gifted this to me without telling me what it was, and I was sure he didn’t think I’d like it, but I absolutely love it. It’s the boldest in my collection—almost a feminine pink floral at first, but that amber drydown makes it unisex. The projection and sillage are brutal, featuring an exquisite, clean white musk. It lasts for hours. It suits elegance and well-dressed outfits; you need to know how to wear it, as it’s not casual. It doesn’t please everyone immediately, but it’s ideal for work, dinner, or the bar if you want to be discreet yet feel special.
