Iris Violet by Alexandre.J

Iris Violet was a unique piece in my collection that, for strange reasons, never conquered me, so I’ve already discontinued it. It smells romantic and feminine, with that over-the-top packaging typical of the brand that divides opinions but is very distinct from the rest. Its essence is a fruity blend with a very powdery iris, sitting over a base of musk and wood. For me, the union of that sweet fruitiness with the powdery iris didn’t sit well; it was hard to wear, especially since I prefer other iris scents. The trail is moderate and lasts 5-6 hours on my skin. It’s not one of the house’s most potent, but if you fall for it, it smells very personal; it could be a hit for others, though this Alexandre J wasn’t for me. Scent: 5/10, Longevity: 5.5/10, Sillage: 7/10, Value: 7/10, Versatility: 6/10, Packaging: 6/10. Would I buy it again? No.

I remember when I was little, sitting on a wooden high chair in the courtyard of a guard station, watched over and pampered by all the married women living there with the Civil Guard. We spent those spring afternoons in a small town in Extremadura filled with orange trees that bring me such good memories, even though I was barely a baby. Just in a diaper, accompanied by my friend Gusiluz (a doll whose head lights up when you squeeze its belly), and at sunset, we’d be served snack time: a metal plate piled high with fresh fruit from back then—super fresh, sweet, healthy, and with an incredible color. Pineapple, banana, apple, and pomegranate, all bathed in a splash of orange juice. Mmmm… I remember it perfectly 🤗. What a treat! Just thinking about it makes me drool. Can you picture it? No? Well, press the atomizer on this Iris Violet to find out. Exactly: a plate of perfectly sliced, fresh fruit is its opening. But it’s not just a little plate of fruit salad, I swear, it’s so much more. It quickly turns into something mature, slightly powdery, with much more iris than violet, and let’s not forget the cashmere—how it complements everything. I love it. Definitely a summer scent, but it has a lot of personality and presence without being too strong, though it’s quite noticeable on the skin for many hours. Citrusy and creamy at the same time. 10/10 aroma. I totally recommend it. It’s a niche fragrance; I’ll admit, at first, I didn’t like it at all, but… there are several that, after trying them multiple times, are now absolutely my favorite. Cheers to these little fruits!
