Aoud Leather by Montale

I like this fragrance; it’s different from everything I’ve tried (the first Montale I’ve sampled). Moderate longevity; I’ve been wearing it for a couple of days, applying 8/10 sprays each time. By the 8-hour mark, it’s already skin-scent only. As for the sillage, the first three hours approx. are moderate leaning heavy, then it drops considerably. The scent is curious, as shisheido says and I share; certain notes are clearly noticeable. I don’t have a great nose for this, but it’s true that the leather and oud are quite clear. I don’t know the rest of the notes. More than unisex, I’d say it’s a feminine fragrance that a man can wear if he likes the style; I’ve tried other unisex scents, but this one seems to tip the scale heavily toward the feminine gender. Curiously, of the people I’ve made smell this Montale (none are fragrance enthusiasts though they usually wear them), they didn’t like it; something bothered them, and there were several. I think it’s a special fragrance, not for any occasion, not for any situation with a certain degree of formality. To use it romantically, I see flaws because the oud scent is quite special. To stand out from the rest at a party or wedding or something like that, I think it would be worth it. I like it, but I don’t love it; if I had tried it before, I wouldn’t have bought it simply because I see very few opportunities to wear it. What’s clear is that I’ll try some of Montale’s non-unisex scents, since the fragrance itself is original and shows plenty of quality, maybe I chose wrong.

What a beautiful fragrance Aoud Leather has! It starts with an energetic and sensual burst of gorgeous, herbal leather with a floral touch, so balanced yet bold. A few minutes later, when cardamomo takes over, a delicious, addictive, and super masculine aroma emerges, with a metallic and bright twist, very well crafted… roses, tobacco, something fresh yet dense, woods, mist, dew, a scent simply… spectacular! This phase lasts a relatively short time before transforming into a very attractive unisex scent that lasts for many more hours. Addictive, you can’t stop smelling your own arm. Its projection is relatively soft but noticeable; very balanced, all notes are right in their place, extremely striking and elegant. At times it reminds me of La Yuqawam (I don’t know Tuscan Leather), but without the raspberry and more sensual. I sense it as more herbal, with some spices. At other times it slightly reminds me of MYTHS Man, with that soft mineral touch. I’ve loved this Aoud Leather, I think I’ll have to go for a big bottle, I’ll go on a campaign and save… I’d love to have it in my collection. And well, if tomorrow I’m hit by poverty, at least I’ll have this one luxury in life, feeling this scent. What exquisite leather, what a curious and exceptional aroma!

What a fragrance! It has a unique standout: it’s an incisive, philosophical leather with spectacular sillage and projection. It’s one of those you either love or hate. Don’t buy it blindly; it’s not for everyone. Paired with powerful leather, oud, saffron, and pepper, it can give off a synthetic vibe that some might reject. It’s fairly linear, excellent for cold days, formal or semi-formal wear, with a serious character and personality, best for those over 25. For me, wearing it is an experience; over time, the intensity drops, leaving that spectacular, super pleasant feeling of new leather. But at first, the powerful opening rarely gets compliments. You get used to it and start craving that feeling again.

It’s a leather-forward fragrance, very well crafted, with spicy and amber notes that make it pleasant for almost any season, except very hot days. Nothing to discard for summer nights. The scent is linear, but for me, that’s a virtue; it’s impressive. The longevity is notable; it lasts all day. The projection isn’t excessive but lasts through the first 2-3 hours and is noticeable almost throughout the perfume’s life. It’s more masculine than feminine and, in my opinion, requires a certain age and personality. Very similar to Ombre Leather, available online for around 70 euros, making it a highly recommended purchase for its quality and longevity.

I heard so many times it was inspired by Tuscan Leather that when I tried it, I thought I’d get a kick of raw leather… nothing could be further from the truth. It’s much friendlier; it’s still photorealistic leather but more suede-like (like Ombre Leather), with a bergamot citrus touch. It has great fixation and moderate projection; people around you notice it, but it’s not a loud leather. Very rich, closer to Ombre Leather than Tuscan. Without a doubt, a great leather fragrance, versatile because it’s more domesticated and features citrus instead of raspberry or florals. Highly recommended.

It’s a leather within the Ombré Leather family. At first, it smells the same, but after a few minutes, it becomes dry and spicy. In another scent, I’d hate it, but here it adds class and versatility. It’s not just for formal events; it’s more usable. The drydown tries to be citrusy but isn’t quite; over time, it turns woody and spicy. It’s wearable for winter and performs superbly. For the price, it’s an interesting option: office leather without breaking the bank. Added to the price and performance… it’s leather in a bottle.

How hard is it to be objective with this perfume. I love it. It’s one of the richest leather creations I’ve ever smelled. Very similar to Ombré Leather, but with a fresher opening due to the citrus, which then gives way to a suede leather heart, well-treated (without the roughness of Tuscan or Yuqawam). If you want to start with leathers, this is the entry point (or Alhambra’s Amber & Leather). Plus, it has an accessible price compared to Tom Ford and good longevity. You can’t ask for more. 10/10.

Montale always makes fragrances with huge projection, sillage, and longevity. With just two sprays, you’re noticed, especially in enclosed spaces. It’s a wilder leather than Tom Ford’s Tuscan Leather, rougher than Ombre Leather, and sharper than Marly’s Godolphin. It’s good, but you have to love leather mixed with oud and spices. Ideal for fall and winter; best tested on skin before buying.

It’s an exquisite, very well-treated leather. It doesn’t resemble OL or TL by Tom Ford; this one is subtle yet potent, more akin to Acqua di Parma’s Leather Concentré. It’s super wearable and lasts forever. Like ADP, it has a citrus touch at the start that surprised me in a leather scent; it goes into my top 3. I’m not saying it’s better than OL, just different.

Great perfume. Similar in longevity and drydown to Tom Ford’s Ombré Leather, but with a stronger, spicier, and sharper opening. This might scare some people, but the evolution after half an hour is brutal. I own both and sometimes hesitate on which to wear, though I prefer Tom Ford’s for being less aggressive.

Smells amazing, great longevity and projection. If you remove the citrus, it’s pure Ombré Leather. Some say it’s synthetic, but I think it’s the bergamot making it sharp; ultimately, it’s gold. I love it once it dries down, less so at the start. Try it before buying.

Pure leather, but with a citrusy, acidic twist that sets it apart from Tom Ford’s Ombre Leather. It lacks the cachet of Boss’s American leather, but it costs much less. It’s intense and long-lasting, just like the best Montale fragrances.

It doesn’t quite convince me; it’s a bit too strong for me and not feminine at all. It’s totally masculine.

This is Tuscan Leather by Tom Ford, but cleaner and fresher.
