Angel by Mugler

Alright… Angel. I’ve been wearing A*Men for 15 years, so I have some thoughts. Mugler’s Angel, I’d define as a total gourmand with a fairly complex structure: top, heart, and base. Some people define perfume with multiple olfactory notes, and as you learn more—like with wine or coffee—you can distinguish more. Honestly, not everyone is prepared to identify that many notes. In my opinion, the perfume is both simple and complex. The notes I detect with my experience are: Top, a mix of fruits with a ton of honey. Heart, caramelized flowers with coconut. Base, an amber vanilla accompanied by chocolatey patchouli and a persistent but subtle caramel. There’s something that makes it feel warm and spicy; I’m not sure if it’s tonka bean or musk, but it definitely feels that way. Mugler, for me, is a perfume that gives security and elegance; it’s timeless. It’s not like those fragrances launched years ago that feel old; Mugler has managed to redefine what an eternal, ethereal fragrance is. Unfortunately, there was a reformulation: I had bottles with “THIERRY MUGLER” and now the ones that just say MUGLER. The good news is it still respects its original aroma, but it no longer has the same sillage or longevity… It’s a shame. If you want to stand out and be different, choose Angel, just make sure to test it first, let it settle, and enjoy every stage of it.

Angel… what an extra-sensory work of art; I’ve been a total fan since 2019. I’m reviewing it again because it’s a new year, and this scent, beyond being my personal signature, enhances my festive seasons. As I write, I smell the bottle: years pass, and I keep refilling bottles; I can’t let go, it’s my iconic scent. It’s a dimensional portal; I feel the 90s or 2050, with no middle ground. I understand this sense of time and space comes from my chronic anxiety and the sheer number of notes; it’s unique. I understand the negative reviews—it’s perfect. Since 1992, it was created for complex, atypical, and rare noses. I’m grateful not everyone likes it; it was never for low-key personalities; it lets others know the elevated vibe you have thanks to the resinous and sweet notes. My circle knows I’m wearing it, and they always come close to my neck; it must be that my vibe creates chemistry with these notes. Recommendations: wear it at night after 6 PM, not during the day. In summer, use it moderately unless it’s the EDT. For people over 30. In winter, it goes with everything; at night, it’s magic, like having wine with chocolate and friends. High personality, guaranteed character, and no fear of success; literally, it’s an Angel accompanying you.

It’s a complicated perfume. I find it bizarre and tender at the same time. It’s potent but friendly. It transports me to childhood, I smell it and my brain says it’s Christmas and they’re bringing me gifts, haha, I’m sure I’d use it then, like an aunt. At first it didn’t convince me, it seemed too strong, like chemical melon, but an hour later on my wrist I like it too much. I smell the cotton candy and mentholated, earthy patchouli that makes me think of a rainy day, but it’s so creamy it gives a warm cuddle sensation. It has a very strange, sparkling magic that attracts me, it’s cheerful, original, and strong-willed. The notes I feel the most are honey, cotton candy (or burnt sugar), amber, and patchouli. I wouldn’t use it in the heat, haha, but I imagine it for gray winter days to lift my spirits. Edit: I love it, haha, how good it smells when it’s fresh. How great that it has the name, I feel it like an angel accompanying and caring for you, a kind presence but with power and that otherworldly air.

OMG! My mom recently gifted me Angel. For a few months now, I’ve loved strong, characterful, slightly «distinguished» perfumes. I’ve read many reviews saying it smells like patchouli bombs, like a man, like cat pee, or like a funeral, but they just don’t know how to wear it. At first, it smells super strong, like a men’s perfume, mentholated, and mega green; but as it dries down, that iconic sweetness comes out. It has a trick: if you don’t moisturize your skin, it smells disgusting, but if you do, it smells sweet and delicious. On me, it smells like burnt caramel, super dark chocolate, strong vanilla, sweet patchouli, and jasmine. Obviously, it doesn’t smell the same to everyone. It lasts 10-13 hours on me and highlights the patchouli, while on my mom, it smells sweeter and doesn’t last as long. It’s a very rich perfume; you just need to know how to wear it. If you want compliments from ladies and to smell rich with character, use it!!!

You either love it or hate it. I’ve noticed many people voted ‘don’t like it’. I think being indifferent doesn’t leave room for much. On paper, I’m one of those who doesn’t like it; it smells like a sharp spice from an Indian dish that you know will upset your stomach (and I like Indian food quite a bit, but there are things that notably disgust me). Like an Indian spice sauce. Maybe a chutney. That would make sense with all those supposed fruit notes. But I don’t smell it sweet or fruity; only a spicy note stands out that I dislike. This perfume has many notes, and I think it depends on your skin, your pH, and the specific day; certain notes can stand out and vary the experience quite a bit. I’ll try it again.

OK, I rushed to write this review, but some time has passed and it smells very good; honestly, I think I can use it, I just have to adapt it to my nose. I can’t delete my previous comment, but if those were my first impressions, now I’m more at ease and actually, I do like it. Oh, how good, because it wasn’t cheap. It’s been almost a month, and Mancero too, I don’t know what Carambas it smells like, but they say everything resembles its owner, and since I’m unbearable, I guess the perfume had to be too, but well, haha. Honestly, yes, I’m going to finish it, because I’m going to finish it no matter how, but it smells sweeter to me now. I quote: it’s a win.

Just received this masterpiece and the excitement is immense. It’s different from everything else, original and rebellious. Tremendously disruptive despite being 35 years old. I can’t talk about longevity yet because I sprayed it an hour ago, but I’m crazy about its projection and sillage. It’s worthy of someone with a strong personality who demands a trained nose. Distinct from any commercial scent, suitable for men or women, day or night, except in extreme heat. This Mugler is perfect for me. I bought it blind because I had the Cuba Paris New York (a muuuuuch better dupe) on promo. I didn’t make a mistake. ☺️

I find it incredible that I’m saying this, but I absolutely loved it 🤣🤣. I hated it at first, but time has passed and my nose is more trained; I’m getting more ‘Muglerized’ by the day. Even though it’s very well-known, it’s a totally outrageous and fun scent. At first, it smells ultra minty and patchouly. As it dries down, what I smell most is honey, cotton candy, and a touch of anise. You have to dose it carefully to avoid a headache, but it’s a joy to appreciate this beautiful and groundbreaking creation.

When I started in perfumery with a beginner’s nose, I HATED this perfume because my favorites were sweet scents. Now, with more experience, I say Mugler’s Angel is a gem. If you give it a chance, you’ll discover the opening is potent, almost mentholated, and pushes you away, but it softens gradually. Notes of fruit, honey, cotton candy, dark chocolate, and a dirty but sexy patchouli emerge. It’s not for everyone—it’s UNIQUE, different, sexy, imposing, almost carnal, a misunderstood work of art.

Got it in 2025, tested the 25ml to see if it would work… and zass, chocolate with praline, cocoa, coconut, and something magical. So potent, my goodness, it doesn’t fade and the Angel takes over. What a powerhouse, what a buzz. It’s not for everyone, it’s original and out of this world. If you can’t handle the strength, don’t buy it, but give it a try because it doesn’t work for everyone, but it works for me (in winter or cold weather).

It’s going to give me a heart attack, no matter how much I want it; my opinion on this perfume keeps changing. Right now, all I smell is patchouli and vanilla. I like it more, yes, I definitely tolerate it now, I can bear it, it makes me a little happier, but it’s still complicated. Oh, I don’t know how much longer it will take for him and me to become good friends, haha.

It just smells invasively of patchouli and gives me a headache. I noticed a faint hint of honey, but I don’t like it. It feels masculine, yet no man would find it attractive, and it lacks any feminine or truly universal unisex appeal. It’s one-note, just smells like patchouli, and I don’t like that note. Not worth the price.

I tested it at Ulta Beauty, gave it a sniff on my wrist, and the opening was horrible, I didn’t even want to keep smelling it. It’s too strange, it smells like sweat or rancid liquids. I understand that the concept of Angel is supernatural and otherworldly, but I don’t think an Angel should smell like that. 🤨

Absolutely terrible. The formulation is awful, like mixing colorful playdough and ending up with a gray ball; literally, it only smells of patchouli. Unfortunately, it has the most powerful projection and sillage I’ve ever seen—you can’t wait it out because the scent never evolves.

I don’t know what kind of noses those 12,000 people have who love it, honestly. It smells like urine from someone you pass on the corner who pees every day for years, almost 🤮. Where’s the gourmand note???? It should be called Angel Earthy Dirty Patchouli 🤮🤮🤮.
