Play For Her by Givenchy

Super balanced perfume, easy to wear, equally fresh and sweet. It has an innocent touch and is very feminine.

I bought it seven years ago; now, in 2024, it has already lost some of its original scent. That was stored in a dark place, but I wouldn’t buy it again.

What joy to have a bottle of this gem back in my collection. Years ago it was one of the fragrances I used the most, along with the Intense version. At the time, I didn’t give it the importance it deserves. Yesterday it returned after a successful swap, and I remembered how much I loved it. It’s fruity, floral, youthful, sparkling, delicate, feminine. Divine!

Why Givenchy, why? What made you decide to kill this spectacular perfume so abruptly? I met it (and bought it) 10 years ago at a perfumerie in Panama thanks to the saleswoman. Since I’d never tried anything from Givenchy, she convinced me. More than the advertising, it was Justin Timberlake turning the lights on and off in Paris from the Eiffel Tower… Rich perfume, easy to wear, attractive, pleasant for the day and elegant for the night. While I loved it, it wasn’t one of my favorites. When I found out it was discontinued, I learned to appreciate it. I regret using it so casually for so many years, as if its production were infinite, without imagining they would discontinue it so abruptly. They did the same with the flanker of Ange ou Demon, Le Secret Elixir, my sister’s signature perfume, and I’ve been years looking for a replacement for such a jewel.

I’m still crying because I can’t find another perfume that gives me the same feeling as Play. I used it for seven years (both violet and pink versions); it was my identity. Nothing compares to it. I don’t understand why Givenchy discontinued such a wonderful, best-selling fragrance. They told me it’s due to fashion trends. They keep selling Amarige, which is fifty years old, and release this. Incomprehensible. I’ll always love it.

I can’t believe this fragrance has been discontinued; it’s simply exquisite, with excellent sillage and a lasting power of up to twelve hours.

1ST PLACE for the best composition of recent years. I’m calling for the death penalty on those who decided to discontinue it.

I got it as a gift and they nailed it. It doesn’t drive me crazy, but it’s pleasant: I detect peach, soft flowers, and creaminess right from the start. The benzoin also adds warmth initially before fading. In spring, it smells like sweet peach; in summer, the flowers take the lead. I haven’t tried it in winter; I don’t think it works for cold days.

Play is almost identical to Play Intense; they’re so similar that if you have one, the other is superfluous. For me, it’s pretty, simple, and easy to understand. At first, I sensed the peach, followed by powdery flowers. I find it cozy, probably due to the tonka bean. I loved it, but since I already have the Intense, I’m settling for a decant.

It smells delicious; pink pepper dominates, balancing the spice with floral notes and a soft spicy touch from tonka bean. I don’t detect the peach as such, but it’s slightly sweet, nothing cloying. It’s a floral and fruity blend, very youthful without being just another fruity fragrance; it has its own essence. The only BUT is that the longevity is poor and the trail is very soft; you have to reapply during the day. For the price, I would have expected better performance; it’s a shame because I loved the scent. Edit: I confirm it changes drastically with temperature. In warm climates, the opening can be strong, but then it becomes soft and lasts 6-8 hours. Much better performance in high temperatures.

Bought it blind and it stuck with me; weird that I’d skip trying it out. Smells like Black XS, I love the powdery vibe. One flaw: doesn’t last on skin or clothes, though Play Intense might. Overall, I loved it and it’s now my favorite.

I’m not great at describing scents, but I recognize and never forget fragrances. I adore sweet ones; I thought this was oriental or vanilla-based. I love all the Plays!

I really like it; it smells like blackberries. I recommend it to young women wanting to look sophisticated. Note: for the price, the trail is light and longevity is minimal, like most new releases.

Okay, something particular happens to me: it smells good and clean. It’s not long-lasting, which is fine; nothing extraordinary. It’s not something I’d die for—in fact, I have samples and don’t even use them.
