Bambú 2024 by Adolfo Dominguez

Very easy to like; at first glance it smells clean and masculine. Those green notes and nothing unusual make it light and weightless. For the price, I highly recommend it, although it doesn’t last long, you can reapply without any issues. P.S.: I’ve tried Citrus Cedrat, Lime Tonka, and Black Amber, and this has been my favorite.

The opening is soft and contemplative: a clean, aquatic bamboo accord blends with green nuances reminiscent of wet leaves at dawn. It’s an opening that doesn’t shout but breathes, like a silent walk through a freshly watered garden. In the heart, cardamom adds a discreet spicy warmth that never overwhelms but wraps around like a light fabric. The dry-down leaves a earthy, slightly animal trail where cedar and patchouli embrace musk and a soft, almost velvety leather. It’s an introspective fragrance that bets on calm as a style statement. It speaks of depth without harshness, of masculine sensitivity without artifice. Perfect for those who value harmony, discreet presence, and the power of the essential. If it were classical music, it would be Gerald Finzi’s ‘In Terra Pax’: pastoral, intimate, with contained but sincere emotion. In jazz, it recalls the minimalist lyricism of John Taylor, where every note leaves space for silence. As a color, it would be bracken grey, a mix of pale green and ash, serene and vegetal just like the fragrance itself.

Another hit from Adolfo Domínguez. That makes several now. It seems to be the classic Bambú by AD, but updated. This 2024 version is a fougère with green woods (bamboo, obviously), cedar, and I’d say a touch of anise. I also detect some hints of jasmine, like in the original Bambú. I’ve really liked it; it’s a classic perfume, better suited for autumn-winter. Crisp, elegant, masculine, and professional. Very much in line with the house. Improved performance compared to the original EDT and relatively affordable.

I like the Bambú EDT and thought the reformulation would have ruined it, but what a pleasant surprise to see it has improved. It’s basically the same scent but more concentrated; the notes and transitions are more distinct. It remains a fresh, modified fougère but with a bit more body, better quality, and higher performance. It’s a bit more mature, less fresh and soapy, yet without losing its concept of a fresh and versatile scent, well-executed. In my opinion, they’ve worked on the previous version to take it up a notch in overall quality.

It’s a fresh, charming perfume perfect for everyday wear. I recommend it for spring and autumn months. When I tried it at the perfumery, the bamboo aroma fell in love with me immediately.

This 2024 Bambu smells fresh and green with classic yet refreshed fougère notes. It’s not Starwalker; the sillage and longevity are moderate. Very versatile and crowd-pleasing. Good buy.

It’s not heavy or overly complex; it’s a versatile all-rounder that’s easy to wear. Maybe not ideal for nights or winter, but it nails that vibe of a natural blend of cedar, patchouli, and real bamboo. 84/100
