I’ve tested this extensively, especially the Gold Incense. I don’t understand why people say it’s so similar to Black Opium; I’ve seen reviews in multiple languages, but I disagree. They might be from the same family, but they aren’t THAT similar. They feel more original, less sweet, and I don’t detect as much coffee as in Black Opium. The Gold Incense has a strong incense presence and feels more elegant than both this and the BO. Feminity smells sweeter than the Gold Incense but less so than the Black Opium; to me, the Gold Incense and Feminity seem more alike than either does to the Black Opium. The Gold Incense is dominated by incense, so you need to like that note and ‘mature’ scents—but not old-lady or vintage mature, rather mature and elegant.
I’ve tested this even more than the Gold Incense. I don’t understand why people say it’s so similar to Black Opium. Many reviews in various languages claim it… if they can be from the same family, that’s one thing, but being THAT similar is where I differ. They feel more original, less sweet, and I don’t detect as much coffee as in Black Opium. Also, the Gold Incense has plenty of incense and is more elegant than this and the BO. I feel that Feminity is sweeter than the Gold Incense but less so than the Black Opium; the Gold Incense and Feminity seem more alike to me than either does to the Black Opium. Just that the GI is dominated by incense, so you need to like that note and ‘mature’ scents—but not old-lady or vintage mature, rather mature and elegant.
On my skin, the caramel note really stands out; it’s sweet and clearly a ‘for her’ fragrance. You can sense Mancera’s signature because there’s a hint of leather, though it’s not bothersome. If you like sweet perfumes, this is your one. The longevity and projection are good.
I tested a 2ml sample, and honestly, it smells a lot like Black Opium or its derivatives, especially when the coffee and caramel blend with the flowers and pepper. I don’t detect the leather, and it doesn’t feel like a men’s scent at all. It’s powerful and pleasant, but without any surprises or anything we haven’t heard before. The notes work well and it lasts a decent amount of time, but it lacks the personality to make me fall in love, so I wouldn’t pay for the bottle.
I bought it because of a review mentioning its feminine vibe due to the name, but the first impression is more unisex, even with masculine undertones. The sweetness is noticeable on clothes, and as it dries down, the feminine side emerges, but it doesn’t really match the title. I like it, though I think it suits an unisex style better than being exclusive to women.
I tried a decant and was surprised: based on the name, I thought it would be more feminine, but it’s unisex with a much stronger masculine edge. At first, it smells sweet, and you can detect the caramel, but I don’t get the coffee note on me. As it dries down, it becomes woody, like a men’s fragrance but with more sweetness. The longevity disappointed me; it didn’t last more than 6 hours on my skin; maybe I just have too much wood for this one. It’s not bad, but I prefer other fragrances from this house.
It was my first Mancera, and I loved it in the store, but at home… ‘Feminity’ sounds like a joke! It’s a much more masculine aroma. It starts citrusy and floral, but after 15 minutes, only all kinds of wood remain. A touch of wood is fine, but so much is excessive for me. It doesn’t smell bad, but it’s not what I expected from that name. Edit: The same thing happened with Instant Crush from the same house; over time, the leather and flowers rise above the wood. Although the leather gives me a shiver, I can tolerate it better. It’s still not feminine; it’s unisex leaning towards men. I suppose it’s for an empowered woman willing to take risks with masculine notes, but in that style, I find Replica’s Jazz Club more elegant and practical with a sweeter touch; this one smells too much like a wooden sofa with flowers on top. Still doesn’t convince me.
