L’Encens is fresh, dark, and mystical—a smoky woody and balsamic scent that evokes Christian liturgies, opening the soul to spirituality and the beauty of burning resins. It’s almost linear, except for the fresh, spicy opening from the pepper, while the rest is smoky, dark, and gothic incense. Imagine woods and resins slowly burning in a golden incense burner set with stones, smoking from the altar of a Gothic cathedral to elevate the congregation toward the divine essence, leaving its mark on every century-old stone. It’s gorgeous; I love it, and it’s unisex, but the performance is weak: it lasts about 6 hours, and the last two are almost nonexistent. The trail is very soft; moderate at first, but after half an hour, it’s skin-scent only, which is a shame because the perfume is beautiful, though a bit too fresh for what it should be. I see it as a night or cool-weather scent, but given its low projection, it works almost any day. I absolutely loved it; the quality is evident, but the performance is poor for the price. Still, if you like this style, it’s a great option: it’s one of the most affordable incense perfumes out there, and yet, it’s not cheap.
