L'Ambra by Collistar is an oriental woody fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2016, it was created by perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin. The top notes feature Bulgarian rose, specifically Bulgarian damask rose; the heart unfolds with amber, sandalwood, cashmere wood, and patchouli; while the base notes reveal benzoin, olibanum incense, and musk.

If you trust amber notes, this is your fragrance. I love it exactly as is. It has everything I’m looking for: originality, a powerful sillage, and 100% orientality. It opens with a beautiful frankincense-tinged rose that fades in minutes to reveal an excellent amber and sweet woods from the blend of frankincense and benzoin. The dry down is a lingering trace of woods, amber, and patchouli. The sillage starts heavy, moderates after about half an hour, and lasts another 5 or 6 hours in that phase. After that, it sits close to the skin for another 6 hours. In two words: amber-balsamic. The only downside is that it’s hard to find; it’s not widely distributed, and I’ve only seen it on Amazon, eBay, and El Corte Inglés.
