Halfeti by Penhaligon's is an oriental woody fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2015, this olfactory composition was created by perfumer Christian Provenzano. The fragrance pyramid unfolds with top notes of cypress leaves, saffron, cardamom, tarragon, bergamot, and grapefruit; a spicy floral heart featuring Bulgarian rose, nutmeg, and jasmine; and a warm, persistent base of oud wood, cedar, leather, sandalwood, amber, tonka bean, vanilla, and musk.

Decent perfume. The saffron and oud accord is noticeable almost right at the start and dominates the whole fragrance. The pyramid works: it starts fresh, the heart has flowers (mostly rose), and on the dry down it sweetens with amber and vanilla. The oud here is strong and leathery, a scent not for everyone, something dirty but not monotonous, changing nuances. I’m not a huge fan of these scents, and besides, after a few hours, it’s hard to perceive it. I tested it at a fair with lots of people and dust… Sometimes perfumists get lost smelling in a clean lab, but the reality of being out there for 12 hours is different. Balance is key. Longevity is decent, but in the trail… uh, I think someone who stole my Joop Homme was winning hehe.
I absolutely loved it! But, is it for women? It smells like what I want to feel in a man’s chest when he hugs me: exquisite, clean, and classy oud. It has wood, a touch of menthol, and something sweet. To me, it’s unisex, but on a man, it’s super sexy. I could wear it on his neck all day…
OMG, it’s a delight. It denotes elegance and opulent places; the blend creates a divinity that transports me. The leather, rose, saffron, woods, and cardamom are perfectly balanced and denote quality. I’m head over heels, ideal for the office, dates, or just being at home. It seems more masculine to me but it’s unisex. As it settles, I notice more oud with fine leather nuanced by Damask rose. I LOVE IT.
Halfeti is like a whisper to the ear accompanying a tender embrace. Subtle, complicit, sensual, and welcoming, it envelops you in a magical aura for a stroll through spring fields alongside fresh wood forests. The balance is an intoxicating journey of bright spices, living flowers, and excellent quality woods. A citrus and green tone upon spraying, where the oud appears with subtle animal nuances, mixed with cardamom, saffron, bergamot, and cypress. Revitalizing. This is where I most enjoy the oud; it gives depth without being pretentious. It evolves into floral tones of rose and whites, with spicy and woody bases. I’m surprised by the difficulty in identifying individual notes; they are so well blended. Drying down to a perfect mix of tonka, amber, and musk with 8 hours of longevity, except for the first hour with moderate projection. An exquisite, unisex, and versatile scent that has conquered me.
Halfeti is like a whisper to the ear accompanying a tender embrace. Subtle, complicit, sensual, and welcoming, it envelops you in a magical aura while walking through spring fields alongside fresh wood forests. The note balance is an intoxicating journey of bright spices, living flowers, and high-quality woods. A citrus and green tone upon spraying, where the oud appears with subtle animal nuances, mixed with cardamom, saffron, bergamot, and cypress. Revitalizing. Here I enjoy the oud the most; it gives character without being pretentious. It evolves into rose and white flower tones, maintaining spicy and woody bases. I’m surprised that it’s hard to identify individual notes because they are so well blended. Drying down to a pleasant mix of tonka, amber, and musk that lasts about 8 hours, with moderate projection except for the first hour. An exquisite, unisex, and versatile scent that has conquered me and I recommend to all perfume lovers.
Penhaligon’s Halfeti has just arrived in my collection and I love it so much, but I must say that at first glance, I like it more on my husband. It’s a delight, denoting elegance and class, opulent places, an olfactory journey into the past. The leather, rose, saffron, woods, amber, cardamom, and its shy vanilla are perfectly balanced; quality is evident. I’m in love. On the dry down, I can’t separate the notes; they all dance together. Once fully dried, I notice more tonka and amber with a slight sweetness wrapped in musk and a discreet oud. I’ll test it more to form a better opinion. Fun fact: it contains black rose, a mythical flower that exists naturally only in a Turkish village called Halfeti with views of the Euphrates.
I tried every fragrance in this discovery set and only picked two: The Favourite and this one. It really caught my attention, even though my usual profile is feminine and Halfeti isn’t. Maybe the blend of sweetened woods and tree leaves takes me to a forest; I detect lots of rose, sweet vanilla, and tonka bean. To me, it’s unisex, and on my dry skin, it reads as floral, sweet woody with a touch of nutmeg spice.
If you want to save a fortune, go straight for Chopard’s Oud Malaki because they smell identical, period. The scent on both fragrances is spectacular.
Spectacular fragrance. Perfumes, like songs, can remind us of an era or a person, and this one reminds me of the Covent Garden neighborhood in London. The Penhaligon’s store is a mandatory stop for perfume lovers, and if you look next to the door, there’s a vent that constantly expels air with this fragrance, flooding the atmosphere. For me, that’s an added plus. It’s not just good; it brings me pleasant memories.
It’s a fragrance that wraps around you, with a warm and elegant essence, without being stiff. It has an interesting play and evolution on the skin and over time. You can smell the rose, but it’s a scent with mystery accompanied by many woods and elements that make it complex. I’d say it’s unisex, more suitable for cold or temperate climates, and for people over 30 or younger, but for special occasions. I highly recommend it for dates and situations where you want to stand out. The composition is complex and heavy, so if you like that, this lotion is ideal.
Definitely one of my favorites. I’m not much of a leather or tonka bean person; I think it doesn’t agree with my pH, so at first I didn’t like it, but as hours passed, I loved it more. I started smelling the rose, the jasmine, the sandalwood… a delight. The dry down reminds me a bit of Cairo because it’s sweet, but it’s not the same. Halfeti has a very predominant leather, making it more masculine than feminine, but it can still be unisex. It’s eternal in jackets or on the body; its longevity is excellent.
It’s a masterpiece, a jewel. It has become the perfume I enjoy smelling the most, whether on myself or someone else. Woody, leather, elegant, cypress. From the moment it’s released, you know it commands attention. I do recommend it blindly. 10/10.
A delicious perfume. To me, it smells like wood and rose. It has other notes, but these are the predominant ones. I can’t detect the bergamot. If you have a refined nose, I smell nutmeg, something like cardamom, tonka bean, and definitely vanilla. I also think there’s jasmine. I insist: mainly oud + rose. It’s curious that some people smell leather, because it doesn’t contain it. It’s an excellent scent. Slightly feminine due to the rose, but I wear it with delight. It’s exotic, mysterious, elegant, mystical, sensual, and overwhelming. They say it carries black rose from a Turkish village called Halfeti. Its performance isn’t as good as one would expect for this price, and it’s a shame because that’s where it falls short. Age: 20+. Unisex, slightly feminine. Fresh springs, autumns, and winters. Scent: 9.5/10. Longevity: 5/10. Duration: 3-4h. Projection: 6/10. Versatility: 8/10. Price: €2.4/ml. Final score: 7/10.
I would define this rich perfume in three words: leather, animal, and cumin. It’s complex, without much evolution, perfect for cold weather, and very pleasant to wear. I don’t see it as exceptionally versatile. Keep kids and heat away. I think it could look brutal on a woman, although I perceive it as more masculine. From the Halfeti line, it’s definitely my favorite.
Great perfume, very complex, though not pleasant for everyone. Most people aren’t disgusted by it, but it doesn’t usually receive compliments nor is it super attractive. Age: I don’t think perfumes need an age range; it’s somewhat “unreal,” though I think it’s +25 and more seductive in that bracket. Projection: Moderate/heavy, projects almost all the time without being crazy. Scent: I don’t find it very innovative or the kind that enchants as people say. Longevity: Lasts 8-10 hours with great projection. Price: Niche, expensive (€2.4/ml). Score: It’s not worth the hype as people say; I don’t recommend buying blindly. It’s a great fragrance, but test before deciding.
I wanted to compare it with its alternative but can’t find it. Since Fragrantica doesn’t have it yet, I’m sharing the info: it’s Rayhaan Tyger, and it’s just as brutal. 🫰🏻 For me, this is one of the best from Penhaligon’s, Halfeti. That’s why I’m sharing the alternative here.
I wanted to list its alternative, but it’s not available. Here it is because Fragantica doesn’t carry it; it’s by Rayhaan Tyger, look for it, it’s just as brutal. 🫰🏻 This is equivalent to saying it’s one of the best from Penhaligon’s for me: Halfeti. That’s why I’m listing the alternative here.
Halfeti is an olfactory jewel. I’ve been wearing it for years and it never goes unnoticed: it always provokes praise and curiosity. A characterful, elegant, and addictive perfume. A composition that surprises with its complexity and balance. It opens with a spicy and citrus top note that quickly gives way to a dark floral heart, where the lead rose appears wrapped in flowers and spices, then sinks into a warm, deep, and enveloping base with amber, leather, and woods that last for hours, giving it an exotic and sophisticated touch. Its longevity is excellent, and its trail is elegant but firm, leaving a mark without being invasive. Ideal for nights, events, or cool climates. An aroma for those who enjoy the classics but are looking for an unexpected twist. It’s not for everyone. It’s a well-kept secret, for those who walk leaving a silent but unforgettable trail.
Halfeti is an olfactory gem I’ve been wearing for years that never goes unnoticed: it always earns compliments and curiosity. It’s a characterful, elegant, and totally addictive perfume. One of those compositions that surprises with its complexity and balance. It opens with a spiced and citrus top note that quickly yields to a dark floral heart, where the discreet rose protagonist, wrapped in floral and spicy notes, eventually sinks into a warm, deep, and enveloping base of amber, leather, and woods that lasts for hours, giving it an exotic and highly sophisticated touch. Its longevity is excellent, and its trail is elegant yet firm, leaving a mark without being invasive. It’s a perfect fragrance for those seeking intense scents with a rich narrative and an elegant presence. Ideal for nights, special events, or cooler climates. An aroma for those who enjoy the classics but look for a crack where the unexpected can slip in. Not for everyone. It’s a well-kept secret, for those who walk leaving a silent but unforgettable trail.
I love it, it’s gorgeous, but a word of caution: during an arbitration, someone told me it smelled like a man. You have to keep in mind that the general public’s taste is capricious; do whatever you want depending on what you’re looking for.
