Discontinued recently, you can’t buy it on the official website anymore; in some stores, you might still find a tester or an unreturned bottle. It suspiciously resembles Bal d’Afrique. A clerk told me they pulled it due to legal issues. What a pity I couldn’t enjoy it at that price. Update: After searching a lot, I finally got it blind. Yes, it’s a clone of Bal d’Afrique in the top and heart notes, but it has a very synthetic base that scratches my nose, and I hated it. The longevity is decent: 6 hours smelling good, up to 9 if you overapply. They say it was reformulated with half the longevity, but for the price, if you can find an old batch, it’s not bad, knowing it’s not a niche scent and the synthetic notes are noticeable.
I was able to pick it up at the store recently; it seems to be back on sale. Although the scent is the same, the longevity isn’t as long anymore. It used to last 8 to 10 hours, so I’ll have to test it more to see its performance.
Amazing! It lasts a ton of hours, and the quality-to-price ratio is phenomenal. It makes me feel clean and super cozy. It’s already in my favorites.
To me, it has an opening reminiscent of Bal d’Afrique, perhaps a bit more floral. In the dry-down, it remains floral and doesn’t evolve into vetiver like the Byredo version; instead, it becomes creamier and more feminine. As an alternative, I’d stick with Vibrant Vetiver by Emir: slightly more citrusy, evolving into a subtle vetiver, and more unisex than the Massimo Dutti one. However, neither comes close to the original.
I bought this perfume and loved it at first; I wore it every day for a month because something about it hooked me, and I didn’t want to use anything else. It calmed my mind, gave me peace, and made me feel clean. People asked me what I was wearing all the time, but now I hate it: it feels heavy on me. Maybe the temperatures rose or my sense of smell changed, but it’s giving me a headache.
