The earthy, dark, deep, even gloomy vetiver shines in this creation. Versatility isn’t its greatest virtue, but in situations where you crave that almost gothic touch, it delivers more than enough. You’d expect quality ingredients from Perris, and this creation confirms it; good sillage and moderate projection round out this slice of forest on the skin.
This perfume is talked about little, and I see it as a clear example of the dividing line between commercial and niche scents—an exquisite, natural, elegant, and sophisticated aroma. There’s no doubt it will soon enter the top 10 of the most famous perfumes. It smells of earthy, dark vetiver, softened by the citrus top notes, creating a base with peanut undertones. It’s like rubbing your skin with freshly dug roots from the forest, still damp from the rain. Its longevity and trail are moderate, perhaps its weak point. I tested it several times on my skin before buying and compared it to others. In the final test, I pitted it against Memo’s Iberian Leather; as I sprayed from wrist to wrist, the vetiver felt so natural that the others seemed synthetic and heavy to me, and I wished they would fade away. I ended up buying it, and while I’m happy, I feel somewhat disappointed because the tester was more concentrated than the actual perfume, losing some of that dark, gothic touch that gives it its charm. I don’t know if this happens to others with testers, but it’s not the first time.
This fragrance is a total olfactory experience. It’s like walking through a muddy field on a sunny morning after yesterday’s storm, where the smell of mud and organic matter mixes with green, wet grass. The potency is easily around 8 hours, with a trail of two meters right out of the bottle and quite noticeable for the first four hours. A ‘must-have’ for vetiver lovers.
This isn’t the typical fresh vetiver with citrus or spices that leaves a clean, classic trail like Guerlain or Tom Ford. This one is dense, complex, slightly woody, and above all, very earthy, to the point where it overshadows the green notes I usually associate with vetiver. One user said it’s not versatile, and I wholeheartedly agree. Fans of this note here will find nuances they might have missed elsewhere and enjoy it… for the rest, they’ll probably discard it after trying it.
From my perspective, it’s a pure, unfiltered vetiver with character, earthiness, and bitterness. It’s not for those seeking a green vetiver. It’s elegant, sober, and projects well, lasting just enough. I’ll add no more, Your Honor!
