Osmanthus blends with resins to create a spiky, almost coniferous fruitiness. It smells like subtly acidic potpourri or hippie shop incense, like sniffing unburnt incense sticks. There’s a soft darkness trying to balance it, but overall it’s very light. The fruits aren’t sweet or boozy; they feel like unpainted wooden toy fruits or the ghostly ones from Laura Gallego’s books—you pretend to eat them but don’t actually eat them.

Against all odds, I like it. Sandalwood isn’t usually my thing, but here it doesn’t overwhelm. It opens floral and sweet, yet everything feels very powdery. It’s definitely the house’s DNA. The composition is wearable and interesting, well-balanced. Although it leans feminine, I love it. As it dries, a woodier, spicier tone emerges. Not ideal for heat, but great year-round. Should work well for formal occasions. Good longevity and projection.

The composition is very wearable and interesting, well-balanced. Although it leans feminine, I love it. As it dries down, it takes on a more woody and spicy tone. Less suitable for heat, but great year-round. It should work well for formal occasions. It performs and projects well.

Absolue d’Osmanthe is another thematic creation from Perris focused on the osmanthus flower. The main note comes through clear and crisp; smelling it, you can almost visualize it. It’s monochromatic, featuring milky white flowers and a soft sandalwood that, like a rising sun, stands out against the white background with its apricot-like similarity. After the initial effect wears off, it becomes a bit monotonous and boring, leaning feminine with a silky aura. I liked it more than Daim Blond because the apricot isn’t as heavy, though not as much as Fleur Nocturne; Perris’s version is finer and more elegant. The downside is the performance: it sits very close to the skin with poor longevity, which is surprising for this brand. There’s always the extrait option, but at an outrageous price.
