Bergamotto di Calabria by Perris Monte Carlo is an aromatic citrus fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2018, this composition was created by Gian Luca Perris and Luca Maffei. The top notes unfold with bergamot, Paraguay petit grain, pink pepper, and pepper; the heart reveals orange blossom, neroli, and jasmine; while the base notes close the pyramid with Haitian vetiver, sandalwood, iris, and musk.

It sounds like Acqua di Parma’s Bergamotto di Calabria, not just because of the name. It’s very citrusy and natural, less creamy than ADP’s Lemon Pie thanks to the lack of sandalwood; here there’s something greener, more realistic, a bit rougher, with a floral touch. You feel a step up in quality compared to ADP. Projection is good for the first half hour and then it drops. Longevity is low, about 4 hours. Simple, light, fresh, natural, and very soft. Recommended.
It starts with half an hour of spiced citrus and then… nothing. After two years of waiting to see if the perfume would mature, the only thing that’s matured is me.
Calabria Bergamotto kicks off with that fresh, natural citrus typical of Perris, but the top fades in a breath, leaving a spiced, powdery base where black and pink pepper take center stage. Too bad the longevity is so poor; after half an hour, you have to press your nose against your skin to smell anything. It’s a pleasant scent, but disappointing because it doesn’t last.
