  Vent de Folie by Annick Goutal is my first niche perfume purchase, and here’s my take. It’s a super glamorous, sweet, and spicy eau de toilette with a summer vibe—sunshine and rain-soaked grass. At first, I detect spiced geranium with orange and a subtle kick of pink pepper; almost immediately, a very sweet red berry jam appears, along with sweet pea flowers floating like butterflies, right above an exuberant, talc-dusted raspberry that forms the heart of the fragrance. The scent is very soft on my skin, barely noticeable, but the raspberry lingers from start to finish like a signature. It’s pure cologne softness. Toward the end, about 12 hours in, cedar and musk emerge. It lasts several days on clothes, leaving a trail of sugary fruits. It transports me to a garden at sunset on a summer evening, in a field with a small alpine cottage surrounded by flowers, overlooking a table with a white tablecloth and tea with jam tarts.
