  Annick Goutal created Petite Chérie for her daughter Camille in 1996. In 2011, Camille paid tribute to her late mother with this Chéri, which has nothing to do with the innocence of its predecessor. Olfactorily, they only share a fruity character. For me, it’s a perfume of excess, where patchouli goes to the limit, competing with a powerful plum note that eventually yields. The result is intense and penetrating, with earthy and metallic nuances. The flowers add a dusty, dark vibe, but they’re not the main event; what stands out is that dirty, muddy, musty scent caused by the saturated patchouli. Mon Parfum Chéri is rough, abrupt, and unpleasant to my nose, yet very intriguing and dark—something that initially attracts me despite being overwhelming. It evokes the femme fatales of film noir, with mystery, decay, and claustrophobic settings. It has that golden glamour of the great perfumes worn by divas in the mid-20th century. It’s for nighttime wear, and I recommend trying it before buying. A perfume with a lot of personality.
