Turathi Brown by Afnan

It has managed to become one of my favorite jewels, a fragrance that embodies masculine depth and elegance. From the first application, you perceive its richness and many nuances. It’s a dense, enveloping composition where spices, balsamic notes, amber, and a very characteristic patchouli predominate. Curiously, I don’t perceive aquatic notes; I’ll check later. I haven’t tried Tuxedo, but I do have Rochas Moustache, which is in the same color range and shares that essence. While Turathi Brown has more intensity and deployment, Moustache is softer and more discreet, but both complement each other perfectly. This synergy makes Turathi Brown a perfect canvas for layering. Today I combined it with Moustache to refresh it, and the result was fantastic: a pair that ‘works together,’ where Brown’s depth is elevated by Moustache’s freshness. Later, a reapplication of the ‘mustache’ revived the ensemble, highlighting the nuances. In my view, it’s an intense composition, without harsh artificial notes, with a distinctly masculine character. Its complexity makes me feel comfortable. Although it has already proven its worth in mild climates, I’m eager to try it in the cold, where I’m sure its warmth and density will shine, offering an even deeper experience.

What a delightful surprise, this Turathi Brown! It opens just like Rochas’ Moustache with that smoky vanilla and spice blend that makes the classic so sexy, but Turathi Brown is denser, sexier, and more potent. It’s basically Moustache on steroids—one of those olfactory bombs that hooked us on Arabic perfumes before we fell for Westernization. It has a powerful trail for the first two hours and stays present for another 8 to 10 hours. When I picked up the package at Correos and put the perfume on, I went to a local bar for coffee, and everyone quickly turned their necks to notice the strong, different scent. Later, I went to a supermarket, and the cashier, usually dry, was surprisingly pleasant and eager to talk. In short, another proof that when Lattafa or Afnan get serious, they can outshine houses with such pedigrees as Chanel, Rochas, or Guerlain. This liquid is bottled by Andrés Croxatto and results in the most exquisite perfume in history, an unparalleled compliment bomb and head-turner.

I heard a reviewer say Turathi Brown was better than the Blue, so I bought it at a good price (30k). It’s an exceptional fragrance, well above average. I don’t know the Tuxedo, but this must be it—a very good fragrance. This Turathi is better than Kismet in both aroma and performance. Sweet, vanilla, and spicy opening. Then the sweetness fades, revealing saffron, vanilla, and amber. I don’t detect ozonic notes. In the dry down, there are indeed balsamic notes similar to Copaiba and Amazonia Magic, I also sense woods (very subtle), mineral notes, and a bit of burnt sugar (like Ameer Al Oud Intense, but softer). I don’t see it as unisex, but maybe it could work well on a mature woman’s pH. Longevity and projection are acceptable. Suitable for blind buys. It’s quite sexy, ideal for a night out with “hunting” intentions. For those over 25. A must-have for lovers of “Arabic” scents and ranks in my top 10 (out of 180 perfumes); modesty aside… that’s saying a lot.

After two days without maceration, here’s my general take. The opening is sweet, could be mistaken for tamarind or peaches, but the patchouli notes are discreet and well-made. Over time, it settles, and you feel the vanilla. The aquatic notes are more noticeable from a distance. Update: after almost a month, it has improved significantly; it feels more masculine now, though a woman could wear it in a formal setting. That sweet patchouli combo is perfect, and the rose adds a unique touch. Longevity improved a bit, projection is the same. One month later update: I think it’s unisex; the rose and woods are noticeable. Longevity is about 7 hours, after that, it’s not much. Projects well for the first 2-3 hours, never overbearing. Trail is about a meter. I liked it; it’s elegant and formal, but not just for a suit. I’ll wait for it to macerate fully before updating. For now, I give it 8.5/10.

I’m a mega fan of Moustache by Rochas, so I bought T.Brown out of curiosity since some reviews put it above the original. My take: 1. T.B is younger, more informal, and a bit sweeter. If you know feijoa in Colombia or LatAm, it has a similar sweetness/acidity, and it also reminds me of tamarind. 2. Longevity and projection are low, around 2-4 hours. 3. Its DNA recalls Moustache. Although T.B has a slight ‘bad breath’ vibe in the first few minutes (I’m being explicit, but that’s exactly what it is), it disappears afterward. In summary: T.B isn’t a bad option, but I stick with Moustache; it’s more sophisticated, elegant, and mature. Although they aren’t copies (they copy Tuxedo), they aren’t redundant. You can own both; they offer different experiences. Under 30: T.B. Over 30: Moustache. If you’re ridiculously rich: go for Tuxedo, haha.

A great inspiration for Tuxedo, but with a touch of Moroccan leather that gives it an exotic and more masculine edge. It’s a seductive and striking aroma, very appropriate for fresh seasons and special moments. This DNA leaves a sweet imprint on the olfactory memory by combining very classic feminine aspects (vanilla, roses) with timeless masculine aromas (leather, woods, resins), creating a very pleasant and unique atmosphere. I love the opening and the scent it leaves on clothes, but the dry down on my skin acquires a slightly sour-sweet and synthetic touch starting from the fourth hour, which makes me appreciate it a bit less overall. The longevity is very good (about 9 hours on skin and 2 days on clothes) and it makes a statement. For the price, you can’t ask for more. I give it an 8/10.

A cozy and seductive scent that rarely disappoints. Perfect for outdoor dates or going out in the middle of winter. It’s an excellent inspiration; although it can be a bit overwhelming at first, it easily ranks in the top 10 of Arabic perfumes and surpasses its blue version. A must-buy, it never fails. Pro tip: spray 10-15 times and let it mature for a couple of months to enjoy its full quality. Usage: elegant for special occasions. Tolerance: casual (2-3 sprays). Climate: winter (cold-humid). Summer (night): 3-9 sprays. Notes: 9.3/10. Longevity: 9.2/10 (4h to 8h). Projection: 7/10 (good without being invasive). Versatility: 8/10. Sillage: 8.5/10 (not common). Bottle: 9.5/10. Value: 10/10. Final score: 9.37.

Excellent sweet woody scent; if you like this type of notes, you can’t help but buy it for its performance and price (acquired for under 30€). If you spray it too generously, it can be overwhelming for the wearer. But in just the right measure, it’s a delight. It has nothing to do with Turathi Blue other than the bottle and the name. For me, this is even better (even though the hype is around the Blue). I was torn between this and Rochas’ Moustache, but I decided on Turathi based on longevity reviews. And that’s exactly how it is.

The cap on my dupe was stuck badly; when I opened it, the atomizer seal popped off, but the packaging is gorgeous and feels luxurious. The juice initially smells like overripe fruit, like fermented peach or apple, and I love it. Once it dries down, it becomes sweet and refined with leather notes that blend beautifully. It’s perfect for formal wear, with blazers or suits. An aroma that surprised me and left me very satisfied.

I went absolutely crazy for this perfume; it’s super addictive. What a shame I couldn’t get it, there are no words to describe how amazing it smells. I don’t get why people say it’s for over 30s (not even joking). I’m 23 and I’d definitely wear it, so forget that. It’s a delight, giving an olfactory sensation few perfumes can match, like Le Beau Le Parfum. This will be my next purchase.

What a delicious fragrance! I bought it with doubts, but at the first sniff, it was love. You can detect the amber and woody notes at the start, followed by something spicy. It denotes elegance and luxury. It lasts quite well for 7 to 8 hours with good projection for the first 2 hours. Afnan has good quality…

Not recommended at all. It has that balsamic note that smells like actual oil, very evident. You notice it the moment you spray it. And that oil, if you have a refined sense of smell like me, is even unpleasant. I don’t understand how they can give it good ratings. Don’t even think about buying it blind.

Beautiful fragrance, a great clone of Tuxedo, definitely wins on quality/scent/value ratio. Good longevity, discreet projection, ideal for mild to cold seasons. Very versatile perfume, suitable for both casual and formal wear. Afnan has many hits, and this is one of them.

Smells like a refined, more sophisticated version of Thierry Mugler’s Amén. Also brings to mind Rasasi’s Daarej slightly. In my opinion, it’s a linear scent with no distinct phases, and the longevity is incredibly long-lasting. 10/10.

A delight. Smells like Moustache EDP but with more punch and incredible longevity. It’s exquisite, elegant, and you can tell it’s top-tier quality.
