  • At first, I loved it: the bitter orange combined with the smoky palo santo note is incredible. But as the hours pass, it becomes generic, likely due to that metallic note in the dry down.

  • What a shame, it smells amazing but the longevity is a disaster. With just six sprays, it fades on my skin in under two hours. It lasts better on clothes, but on skin it lacks both projection and intensity.

This ‘amber wood’ smells spectacular, like coffee with smoky touches of Palo Santo. Be careful smelling it too fast and thinking it has a generic dry-down, because that citrus and metallic point (which reminds me of newspaper) rounds out a wonderful sweet woody fragrance. In my opinion, it’s clearly autumnal, though it also works on spring nights or winter days. Medium projection and trail within your bubble. Sweet wood (not a wood that later gets sweeteners added) goes straight into my collection.

This ‘amber wood’ smells like coffee with smoky palo santo notes. Be careful not to think it’s dry; that citrus and metallic touch (like newspaper) rounds out a sweet, woody fragrance, perfect for autumn or spring nights. Medium projection and a nice personal sillage. The sweet wood has officially joined my collection.

  • In Juan de Hueleme Mucho’s words: It’s Reflection Man, sexualized, a product of a bed of white flowers and distinctive metallic notes. Planning to acquire soon.

  • For me, it’s 90% Botanicae Onda, but a bit more woody and less sweet. In the style of Reflection, Le Male… Very good.

First impression: it shares more than one note with This Is Him. It’s like a lighter version, a bit more woody. It’s slightly sweet, and that metallic note gives it a cleaner look. Nice aroma, I’ll keep trying it and will update.

First impressions: it shares some DNA with This Is Him, but feels lighter and more woody. Slightly sweet, that metallic note gives it a cleaner air. Nice aroma, I’ll keep testing it and will update later.

  • It lasts a breath. You spray it, smell it, put the bottle down, smell again, and it’s gone. I think from the bedroom to the front door, you don’t have time to get there; you lose it on the way.

  • I bought it as a gift for myself for the anniversary due to the good reviews. I liked the opening and was surprised by the longevity (about 8 hours on my skin). But don’t abuse the sprays (max 5); at 18-20 degrees, it smells strong at close range. In my experience, if you wear it in the morning, you smell citrusy for the first hour, then shift to metallic with floral (orange blossom) during midday, and in the afternoon, you notice that creamy, woody amber and palo santo that sweetens it. There are many options; this THIS IS REALLY HIM doesn’t disgust me, and I need to try it more to make it my daily, although Zadig & Voltaire Undressed drove me crazy, lasts less, and is less versatile. This works day and night, and I think I’ll use it more seasons (below 23ºC). EDIT: 8 sprays, 9 hours on skin. I’m noticing that sweet scent more as it dries, like a lemon dessert. On my skin, it lasts, today with temperatures below 14ºC.

Don’t abuse the sprays (max five) at 18-20 degrees, because up close it smells strong. If you wear it in the morning: first hour is citrus, then metallic with floral (bitter orange), and by afternoon that creamy amber and sweetening palo santo takes over. I don’t dislike it and it could be my daily, although Zadig & Voltaire Undressed blew my mind. This works day and night, under 23 degrees. EDIT: 8 sprays, nine hours on skin. I’m noticing that sweetness more as it dries, like a lemon dessert. On my tough skin, today with less than 14 degrees.

  • Fresh, soft citrus, spicy, and aromatic with a smoky touch. It evolves into something warm and enveloping: vanilla-woody, creamy, and slightly gourmand. Very original and good quality. Longevity and projection are quirky: you might stop noticing it after 30 minutes, but throughout the day, bursts of that gourmand note come and go. Someone might say you smell good at the five-hour mark. I suppose it’s modern chemistry. It doesn’t project and isn’t noticeable, but it’s very original and perceived as high quality. Recommended for collection.

  • Fresh, soft citrus, spicy, and spiced, with a smoky touch. Evolves into something warm, enveloping, warm woods, and vanilla-like, creamy and slightly gourmand. Very original and good quality. Longevity and projection are hard to explain: you might stop smelling it after 30 minutes, but throughout the day, bursts of that gourmand note come and go. Maybe at 5 hours, someone will tell you that you smell good. I suppose it’s modern chemistry. Conclusion: it doesn’t project much at all, but it’s very original and has high perceived quality. Recommended for collection.

  • After trying, rejecting, and then buying it, I finally understand the love-hate relationship with This Is Really Him. It opens soft and citrusy with amber notes, but projects for at most an hour (maybe 1h 45m on clothes). After that hour, the trail drops to zero and it stays in your personal bubble, losing the citrus for a sweet palo santo and clean metal. If you move around, it helps a bit, but at half a meter, no one smells you. It’s like freshly ironed clothes: at first it gives off a scent, then it smells clean, all very quickly. Sometimes you don’t smell it yourself, but if someone gets close, they say you smell good. Is it made so your brain says ‘no’ while the rest agrees? It lasts 6 hours on skin and 7 hours on clothes. It’s ‘the office cologne’: not overpowering, smells good, and by the time you get home, it’s gone. Why the love? For that clean, proper guy scent. Why the hate? The price; it deserves more. If it projected normally its entire life, it would be a hit. Extra: works best between 15 and 22 degrees, wear it under a jacket. In short: start the week right, even if you work, at least you’ll smell great.

  • After testing it, rejecting it, and then buying it, I understand the love-hate relationship with This Is Really Him. It’s a blend of soft citrus and woody amber. It projects for a maximum of an hour; on clothes, it reaches an hour and a quarter. After that hour, the sillage fades, leaving only a personal bubble where the citrus is gone, replaced by a sweet palo santo and clean metal scent. It’s like freshly ironed clothes: you don’t smell it from afar, but if someone gets close, they say you smell great. It seems designed to make your brain say ‘no’ while the rest of you agrees. It lasts about six hours on skin and seven on clothes if you hunt for it. It’s the quintessential office cologne: not overpowering, you smell good, and by the time you get home, it’s gone. Why the love? For that clean, proper uncle vibe. Why the hate? The price and the fact that it should last longer. It works best between 15 and 22 degrees; wear it under your jacket. Let’s start the week right, because even if we’re working, we’re smelling great.

Don’t buy it blindly. It smells odd at first, but what surprises you is how it evolves as it dries. Starts refined, like This Is Him but lighter, with bergamot and woody amber, plus very subtle metallic and citrus touches. Within minutes, it turns into that Marseille soap scent that sticks to the skin. Ideal for intermediate days, up to 25 degrees. The downside is it doesn’t last; don’t use it outside. With 15 sprays, you get 5-6 hours, but it only projects for the first 30 minutes, and that’s indoors. I love it, but the performance fails. I give it 7.5/10.
