It’s a woody fragrance with a light patchouli and the typical rum and nut blend. I liked the opening, where the patchouli was strong, but it gradually gave way to the rum and nuts. On paper, it sounds interesting, but it hasn’t convinced me in this fragrance; something is off and it doesn’t fill me up. It smells good, but it’s not special to me. In the dry-down, vanilla is more noticeable, sweetening without being cloying. I see it as leaning feminine and suitable for any climate. Longevity is normal and projection is weak.
It’s a woody fragrance with a light touch of patchouli and the typical rum and nut mix. I liked the opening, where the patchouli was strong, a note I usually enjoy, but it gradually lost presence in front of the rum and nuts with the wood in the background. On paper the mix seems interesting, but in this perfume it hasn’t convinced me. Something is off and it doesn’t quite fill the bill. It smells good, but it’s nothing special for me. In the dry down, the vanilla is more noticeable, sweetening without being cloying. I see it as leaning feminine and suitable for any weather. Normal longevity and weak projection.
Straight to Heaven opens spicy and warm, with no intention of being refreshing. Nuts and jasmine nuance this good patchouli, which is very non-earthy and has a smoky effect like a space heater. It projects by heartbeat, which I love. Amber, cedar, and musk create this effect. The rum is crystal clear from the start and evolves into a sensual effect, like rum with raisins, with the sweetness of vanilla rounding it out without being cloying or tasting like a drink. Longevity on my skin is very good and projection is moderate, which I appreciate to avoid being overwhelming. Excellent quality. If you like smoky patchouli with rum and raisins, you’ll love it. Rating: 7.
It’s quasi-gourmand, but something is off with the note blend; they don’t sit well together. It’s not bad, but I wouldn’t buy it. Longevity is regular and projection is very low.
Kilian fragrances are hard to find and expensive. To describe it, you have to use the word ‘boozy’: it’s incredibly boozy. At first, it’s overwhelming, reminiscent of A*Men Pure Malt with a touch of caramel and spicy patchouli, like a dark, thick rum that quickly shifts to a natural, dry cedar. I have mixed feelings: my biggest complaint is longevity. Two sprays were unbearable for 2 hours, and by hour 6, only a faint trace remains. Projection is excellent in the first few hours, but the lack of longevity and the excessive price prevent me from buying it.
Aged rum with a fruity note denotes maturity; perfect for those over 40 and formal or office situations. It works well in cold climates. At first, it smells medicinal, almost like a pharmacy, and it’s potent, but after 10 minutes it becomes bearable, leaving only the rum. It denotes elegance. UPDATE: I used it today at 35 degrees Celsius, and it seems to work well, though with less power. Like many fragrances, the more you use it, the more you enjoy it.
Old rum with a fruity twist: smells like maturity, perfect for those over 40 in formal settings or the office. Works well with the cold. At first, it smells like something I can’t quite place, almost patchouli, which I don’t fully enjoy, but after half an hour it fades and leaves just the rum, elegant. As others mentioned, the dry down smells strongly like a pharmacy and can be annoying, but after 10 minutes it’s not so bad. UPDATE: I tried it today at 35 degrees and it works well, though with less potency than in the cold. In the end, after using it a few times, you start to really like it.
An exquisite patchouli mixed with rich rum, an addictive aroma. The only downside is that its projection and longevity are scarce.
A exquisite patchouli mixed with rich rum, an addictive scent. The downside is that it projects and lasts a short time.
I don’t know if my nose is broken, but this perfume barely smells. I recommend trying it before buying.
A exquisite Kilian fragrance that isn’t for everyone. Smells like a drunk man with patchouli as the star, very refined and not earthy, mixed with woods and the just-right sweetness of nuts and amber. It’s complex, characterful, and hard to wear; it has a vintage vibe and a touch of camphor, pure class. It’s strictly formal, for cold seasons, and for the night. It’s very similar to Tiziana Terenzi’s Ursa, which is rougher and louder, though it lasts and projects more, which I’m not sure is good, plus it’s much cheaper in 100ml. If I didn’t look at the price, I’d go with Straight to Heaven; being more subtle, it’s more refined. In short, a great men’s fragrance with two major issues: low versatility and high price.
An exquisite Kilian fragrance, complex and full of character, though not for everyone. It’s a refined patchouli, nothing earthy, mixed with woods, nuts, and a perfect amber sweetness. It has a vintage vibe, a camphoraceous touch, and pure class—ideal for night and cold weather. It reminds me of Tiziana Terenzi’s Ursa, but this one is rougher and flashier, though it lasts longer and projects better (even if that’s not always a good thing). For the price, Straight to Heaven wins; it’s more timid but more refined. A great gentleman’s perfume, but expensive and not very versatile.
I can’t quite match the notes to what it smells like; it feels like a ghost of the 2007 version, too watery and ethereal. Upon application, it smells green, slightly alcoholic, and dry, with a hint of rum and fresh nutmeg that only emerges after a few minutes. The clean, musky woods are noticeable, but everything is very diffuse: no vanilla, no guaiac, no leather. Projection is just okay and longevity is short; it’s suitable for any season except summer. Worth it for how pleasant it is, though the price is high for the performance.
I don’t know how to describe it well; I see the notes but I don’t smell them. Maybe it’s already so diluted that its pyramid is a shadow of what it was and doesn’t convey what it aimed to be when it launched. Anyway, it’s a pity it’s so ethereal and short-lived, because it’s a true beauty and at full performance (around 2007) it should have been spectacular. When applied, it smells like a green accord, a bit alcoholic, dry, and sweetened. I deduce it’s the patchouli, without its earthy or chocolatey nuances, more like a green leaf with a slight rum and a fresh/spicy whisper of nutmeg identifiable after a few minutes. It hints at clean, delicate, fine, and musky woods with a subtle sweetness in the base, but again the notes are too insubstantial. Nothing feels sharp: no vanilla, no guaiac, no leather, no tonka. Poor performance and moderate projection, suitable for any season except summer. Very expensive for what it is, but tremendously pleasant.
