Soir d’Оrient by Sisley

An opulent and complex perfume, you can tell the quality of the ingredients; in my case I loved the opening with galbanum and saffron, then the rose comes out accompanied by a discreet geranium, a rose in all its splendor, but in the end I perceive the blend of incense and woods (a bit overwhelming), which is why I didn’t buy it, besides being very expensive in my country. A true perfumery jewel, suitable for a cold winter night with something elegant.

There are days when life brings you together with people, situations, and even perfumes…. After my separation I was introduced to a simply stunning woman, full of presence, one of those you can describe as a “simply dazzling woman”. It was impossible not to invite her to share a coffee at my home. After those first moments of tension a very pleasant conversation emerged, typical of two people with long life paths traveled, with many experiences, beautiful ones and not so beautiful ones. Suddenly a fragrance atypical on a woman for my olfactory habit, but delicious, super delicious, began to flood my living room, eclipsing my Bleu de Chanel despite my having sprayed almost 14 sprays. I had no choice but to ask her the name of what she was wearing and she named this perfume, unknown to me. (I did know the House of Sisley). The conversation turned to perfumes, a passion she also shared and shares. The attraction kept rising (perhaps also because of that spicy and exquisite perfume), my hands sank into her hair while my mouth kissed and softly caressed her lips, then traveled along her neck, cleavage, it was impossible to stop, the path became unstoppable and irreversible…. A call to my cell phone stopped that passionate moment, a family issue halted the magic of that fleeting but pleasurable encounter, I had to apologize and we agreed to see each other again. Hours later I returned to the sofa, a scent of a somewhat harsh and wild rose, wrapped in delicious incense and exquisite spices had impregnated its cover…, that fragrance lasted there more than a day. I closed my eyes and returned to that moment, how delicious and sensual this perfume had been for me which can be classified as “unisex”, but being so does not take away sensuality, elegance or presence. And if they put 100 blotters impregnated with perfumes in front of me I would recognize among all of them with my eyes closed this delight called Soir d’Orient by Sisley, although on a paper blotter it does not shine as much as on the skin of that beautiful and unforgettable woman….

Bergamot and saffron, which are very prominent at the opening, give the fragrance a bitterness that contrasts quite a bit with the rest of the notes and is probably there to try to balance the sweetness of its base — which it doesn’t quite manage to do. The scent eventually dries down to a spiced, slightly sweet wood, with a linear development and not much interest. Its texture is too powdery for my taste. I think you can get better things for less money, honestly.

Eau du soir is one of my favorite perfumes and a couple of years ago I managed to get a little bottle. When I bought it they gave me several samples of the soir d’orient body cream and I fell in love. Since then soir d’orient became one of the perfumes I liked to try when I went to perfume stores and I loved it because even though I noticed a certain similarity to eau du soir, I had the feeling it was more intense and also much more balsamic. Still soir de lune became my favorite perfume of the line! Since I already had eau du soir at home I never sprayed myself with it outside but went directly to the oriental and the half moon. A few days ago I saw that a website was clearing out soir d’orient at 50% off so I took the opportunity to get a 50ml bottle for $40. When it arrived and I tried it I couldn’t have been happier! However afterwards I sprayed eau du soir on my other hand and… oh!! The similarity between both perfumes is much greater than I remembered!! There I realized that soir d’orient is almost identical to eau du soir but adding a bit of incense and a slightly smokier touch. I don’t regret it because regardless of the similarity between both fragrances it is a wonderful perfume and the bottle is also beautiful. Plus I got it at an unbeatable price! But it’s true that within my collection it’s a bit redundant, and I see myself wearing it in the same moments as its sister eau du soir. The performance, as in the case of its soir, is great. It lasts about 8h on my skin and lasts several days on clothes. The projection is perhaps a bit stronger than eds at the opening, although it may last a bit less. For me it is even more unisex than eds, although it’s sold as feminine, and I find it totally versatile for any moment and season. Although it’s quite intense and elegant, so it dresses well for evening events, it also has a fresh touch that makes it suitable for daily use or even for the office. It is clear that it is a good perfume, but it is too potent, a very masculine scent, a lot of geranium, and above all loooots of incense. I also notice in the background an acidic note, it must be bergamot, almost like lemon. You have to really like a perfume that is very masculine and very strong, almost like those from the 80s, like Poison type, and yet I do like Poison by Dior. This one is very oriental, but there are no creamy notes like almond for example, there are rather dry notes, and a lot of incense in the opening. It also smells a lot of spices, because of the pepper. These are not odors that everyone likes. It is like the typical perfume your father would wear when he goes to a wedding, haha, my father always wears them like that. If it were masculine they would have nailed it. It should be at least unisex.

Much more luxurious and refined version of Jesus del Pozo Arabian Nights. If you do not like rose do not even go near it, here there is rose galore and also ultra-boosted with geranium. A medieval red rose, imposing and severe, almost marble-like, rough like a cat tongue, cold, pure ammonia, as if they had reduced to perfume the freshly mopped marble floor of an austere French or Spanish palace. This could be the perfume of Joan of Arc or Coppola’s Vlad Dracula. I put it on and think of a medieval armor, icy, sparkling. This fragrance has no mercy, it makes me think of those people who would be capable of amputating their own foot with an axe blow to stop an irremediable infection. Those people who without thinking twice would fight a bear to the death, would kill it, with the skin would make a coat, with the bones a cabin and with the meat, jerky. People who master equally the art of war and the enlightened arts, always guided by firmness, rectitude and a kind of mystic/fanatic idea with some messianic touch. Unlike the previous reviews I do not feel the incense beyond the balsamic touch it gives to the rose/geranium combo. Fabulous sillage and longevity. I would never wear it because I hate roses, but even so I am blown away by its beauty.

Magnificent and mystical. For those who like Eau du Soir, here is the orientalized sister who has lived ten years in ancient Persia, it is a blast of incense of the purest and most beautiful quality. I recognize it as her sister but they have clearly and exactly given it the sacred and enveloping touch, a masterpiece from this house. The longevity on skin and the sillage are incredible. If I had to choose a perfume with incense and personality, this would be on the list without exception. I find it unisex or at least without a clear and strong feminine touch. The perfumer knew how to give it the precise nuance to be Eau du Soir + One Thousand and One Nights. Wearing it is intoxicating, it transforms you. It has an intensity and creates a unique atmosphere. To be able to wear it more often I think the trick is to apply just a little, a bit more on the most special occasions.

The scent is really ugly.

Without a doubt, I love Sisley perfumes. They are expensive, it’s true, but they have quality and show evolution. Soir d’Orient fascinates me. I don’t find it similar to other perfumes and I also don’t think it is an oriental. I think it is a chypre-spicy fragrance. On my skin it has an intense opening, with a tingling bergamot with spices that quickly evolves to the scent of a powerful, dominant and sensual rose. The scent of rose accompanied by earthy patchouli, incense and a sensual sandalwood is what remains as base and this scent lasts for hours. I find it more feminine than masculine and it is for special occasions. For daily wear it is wasted and it is very nocturnal. It goes very well with suit and jacket style or even with leathers and furs on a person with an elegant and intellectual style. With warmth in manner and kindness in ways. Age to wear it doesn’t matter. It always looks good on a profound person. That is what is important. Performance-wise, excellent. Just apply it once and smell for hours. No need to reapply. Soir d’Orient is an opulent, intense and intoxicating perfume that exudes elegance from every angle. You can clearly perceive that chypre essence of Eau du Soir wrapped in a lot of incense and floral notes among which rose, geranium and saffron stand out. The result is a dry and warm scent that definitely smells like an oriental night. For me it is a completely unisex scent. In terms of performance, on my skin it lasts about 10-12 hours and its sillage is moderate to wide. Although I only have nice words for this great perfume I feel it is a bit too big for me and, for now, I will not buy it. I’m going to tell what happened to me with this perfume. They give me a sample with another purchase, I apply it, wham right in the face, I let it rest a few minutes, I smell it, oh my god what is this, what a marvel, I’m dying, I want it, after 4 hours I order it online. Time passes, after about 6 hours from application, what happened, what is this smell, it smells very bad, really really bad. I have to call the store to urgently cancel the order, luckily I canceled it. The longevity I think can go beyond 10 hours but on me, I don’t know what’s wrong with it, it ends up smelling unbearably bad. 100% unisex perfume.
