Descripción
Silver Shadow by Davidoff is a woody oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 2005, the nose behind this composition is Calice Becker. The top notes unfold with bitter orange, coriander, and Virginia cedar; the heart reveals saffron, clove, and patchouli; while the base notes settle with benzoin, amber, cinnamon, and oakmoss.

I don’t know much about Davidoff (barely 3 or 4), but I feel they really went all out on this and it deserved the fruit. Kurkdjian’s creation is fabulous: manly, elegant, and sexy, plus versatile, it goes at any hour or occasion, though I admit there are better ones for very formal events. The opening has moments that recall Lagerfeld (though less sweet); it has such quality with that soft, astringent, warm, and fresh bitter orange note (here we call it ‘grocery store orange’). The middle notes activate endorphins. The base highlights a subtle mix of cinnamon and amber, complemented by moss. In short, I’m not tired of smelling it yet. I bought one for a friend who I hope enjoys, and another for my future husband hehe, and for the men of the house when needed. Edit: I bought another for my brother and he loved it. Now I’m curious about its flankers, especially the Pure Blend.
A gift from a forum friend, Azuriiita, who has great taste. Exquisite. Until this year, I didn’t know who Kurkdjian was; I discovered him reading about Narciso Rodriguez and then Le Male by Gaultier. Several reviews of his work put me on notice. The first thing that struck me is that it breaks Davidoff’s usual style yet remains Davidoff, which I celebrate, just like with Victorinox. It doesn’t happen with Shiseido, where two men’s fragrances have nothing to do with each other, which makes me distrustful. To be honest, it won’t change the axis of the Earth; it’s not original, but it’s a piece every collector should own if they like the house. It’s a twist on the sporty style of other scents from the house, ideal for casual and formal events, even the office (serious, sure). In terms of style, bottle, and scent, it reminds me of Lagerfeld (no coincidence, both are woody orientals). It’s not for heat, but for fresh weather; in my office, I have the split right behind me and it’s between 17 and 21 degrees. I’d place it for men over 30. Azuriiita brilliantly deepened the evolution discussion; I can’t add much that contradicts what she said, only that her citrus note is as bitter and dry as Terre d’Hermes, the spices (cinnamon) remind me of Puig’s Sybaris, and the woods can compete with almost anything from Mont Blanc. Maybe you think it’s subjective because it was a gift, but I’m sincere; this is what I think. Excellent, thanks a million to Azuriiita and thanks to Monsieur Kurkdjian.
A friend from the forum, Azuriiita, gifted it to me; she has exquisite taste in fragrances. Until late in the year, the name Francis Kurkdjian didn’t ring a bell; I learned about him reading about Narciso Rodriguez scents (including my favorites ‘for Him’ and the super sexy ‘for Her’), and then found out he also created the famous Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male, though I hated Custo Man. Azuriiita’s reviews of this creator put me on alert. The first thing I noticed (I told her on the phone) is that it breaks Davidoff’s usual style without ceasing to be Davidoff; something I celebrate, just like with Victorinox. It’s not like Shiseido, where ‘Basala’ and ‘Tactics’ have nothing to do with each other and make me suspicious. Honestly, it won’t turn the world upside down, it’s not original, but it’s something you want to own, and every collector should have if they like Davidoff. It’s a twist on the house’s sporty style, ideal for casual and formal events, even serious offices. By style, bottle, and scent, it reminds me of the classic Lagerfeld (both are Oriental Woody). It’s not for heat, but for fresh weather (in my office, the split is nearby, between 17 and 21 degrees). I’d wear it for people over 30. Azuriiita explained it brilliantly, so I can’t add much: its citrus note is as bitter and dry as Terre d’Hermes, the cinnamon recalls Puig’s Sybaris, and the woods compete with almost anything from Mont Blanc. It might seem subjective because it was a gift, but I’m being sincere. Excellent, thanks a million Azuriiita, and thanks Kurkdjian.
Good, though it doesn’t smell exactly like Miracle Homme, it has that same vibe and you know it has Kurkdjian’s DNA. The opening is unique, with cedar but not very woody; cilantro stands out more than the orange. The amber sensation appears almost from the start. At 4 hours, saffron and cinnamon shine, reminding me of ST Dupont Intense. At 8 hours, patchouli, amber, some benjoin, and soft cinnamon. It smells great; it’s a younger, woodier oriental than the Zino style. I recommend it for men over 30, for winter and night. It works well in the office due to its moderate trail and elegance.
Well, although the notes aren’t identical to Miracle Homme, it has a similar impression, and there you know it shares the same ‘Kurkdjian DNA’. The opening is singular: despite having cedar, it doesn’t smell very woody; you notice the coriander and less of the bitter orange. The amber sensation appears almost from the start. At 4 hours, saffron and cinnamon stand out; it reminded me of parts of ST Dupont pour Homme Intense. At 8 hours, patchouli, amber, some benzoin, and softer cinnamon emerge. It smells great; it’s a younger Oriental Woody than the Zino style from the same house. I recommend it for people over 30. The trail is moderate but on me it lasted over 12 hours feeling clear. I see it as good for winter and autumn, or for night use. Although in the office it could be good due to its moderate trail and Oriental elegance.
Very elegant and formal; I’d wear it casually or at night. At first, you smell orange and cinnamon; at times, it reminded me of Terre d’Hermes as it dried, a small deja vu.
Exquisite; it brings back memories of Boucheron’s Jaipur. The amber adds warmth, the saffron intensity, and the bitter orange freshness. Notes of cinnamon, clove, and incense complete the picture. I bought this and the Black Stone by La Rive; they’re identical, only the price differs.
Did they change the perfumer? Because I thought it was Francis Kurkdjian…
Smells like cotton candy, very sweet but saved by a zesty orange note. Half an hour in, the chocolate appears, melting into exquisite, cheerful cinnamon. It could be my party scent if not for Jaipur, though this smells more gourmet and fruity than the other, which has a tender almond soul for me in February.
I love it; it smells like caramelized oranges, it’s a delight and gets compliments. Very masculine, elegant, and sensual, it lasts all day. It lasts about 8 hours; the trail is more of an aura that envelops you—you notice it’s close, but there’s freshness, so it feels distant. If you like sweet, bold, and sexy scents without being cloying, it’s yours.
I’m obsessed with this scent. It smells like caramelized oranges, it’s a delight, and you’re sure to get tons of compliments. It’s super masculine, elegant, and sensual, perfect for any occasion. It lasts about 8 hours; the trail is moderate, more of an aura that envelops you and is noticeable in your environment, but with that fresh touch, everyone picks it up. If you like sweet, bold, and sexy perfumes without being cloying, this is your thing.
Discontinued fragrance but very well made, masculine, elegant, and persistent. One of the best from the house. Highly recommended, a blend of scents that was thrilling.
Wow, this isn’t sold anymore but wow, what a find: masculine, elegant, and long-lasting. One of the house’s best, highly recommended. A blend that makes you want to jump.
Top fragrance, executed to perfection.
After wearing it daily for a week, I can finally give my opinion. When I step out, I clearly notice the bitter orange (in my elementary school there were many orange trees, and we used to play with them; I remember the scent on our hands) along with coriander, cedar, and a shy cinnamon, giving a sensation of slightly spiced orange marmalade. Over time, patchouli (resinous) and saffron gain strength, with some clove, always accompanied by the bitter orange. Finally, oakmoss, amber, and the benzoin that made its entrance in the middle stage with its balsamic sweetness remain. It’s elegant, sensual, long-lasting, and has good projection without being invasive. I think, like in music, there is AOR; this fragrance would be an AOF (Adult Oriented Fragrance), which limits its sales and sadly led it to oblivion.
After using it daily for a week, I’m launching this review. Upon spraying, I notice bitter orange (in my elementary school there were orange trees of that variety, and it was common to play with them; I remember the scent on my hands) with cilantro, cedar, and a timid cinnamon, giving a sensation of ‘lightly spiced orange marmalade’. Over time, patchouli (resinous) and saffron gain strength, with clove to a lesser extent, always with the bitter orange. Finally, oakmoss, amber, and the benzoin that entered the middle with its resinous and balsamic sweetness. Elegant, sensual, long-lasting, and good projection without being invasive. I think as in music there is AOR (Adult Oriented Rock), this fragrance would be AOF (changing Rock for Fragrance), which limits its sales potential and sadly led it to the pantheon of discontinued scents.
It costs very little for what it offers: for me, it’s perfect for the office, with just the right amount of sweetness and not overwhelming. It smells wonderful. A cheap gem suitable for blind buys. It’s still available at a good price in some online stores.
Pleasant, formal, and elegant, easy to wear. On my skin, longevity and projection are scarce: an hour and it’s gone, lasting a bit longer close to the skin.
I don’t know how many bottles I’ve used; it’s my signature. There isn’t a perfume for 18 euros that generates so many compliments and is this good. I know you can get Bentley for Men Intense for a bit more, but it’s not as easy to find. I’ve seen comments saying it lasts an hour and doesn’t project, but that must be my skin; I easily get 5-6 hours and projection to a meter without issues. For me, it’s clearly a conqueror.
There are also gems in the budget range, and Silver Shadow is one. Ideal for daily wear in the cold: neither citrusy nor overly sweet. To me, it smells like candied orange with cinnamon—fresh but warm, with just the right touch of sweetness that wraps around you. It reminds me of Boss Orange (not the bottle) for that bitter orange scent, though here the touch is warm due to cinnamon and amber, not spicy. Very pleasant to wear and smell, versatile except for formal events. Lasts 6-8 hours, low trail but lingers at aura level. Excellent different daily wear, top price (around 20 euros), and well-made as is Davidoff’s custom. A little gem. Au revoir!
Just bought and tested. I’m going to see if this comparison holds up: it’s the younger brother of Rochas Moustache EDP (the middle one) and Bentley For Men Intense (the older one). All three share benzoin, a sweet, amber, and warm note with certain spices and woods. But this is a Moustache with citrus, so it’s less sweet, or a Bentley without the rum note. I’m not saying they overlap, as you can wear all three without issues, though they sometimes fit the same scenario. Watch out: it’s not a citrus fragrance, even though everyone says bitter orange is the most prominent note. That’s it. The rest is the same: they are clean and elegant fragrances for people who want to project status. The mastermind behind this has jewels in Kilian, Tom Ford, and others. Want a serious and elegant perfume? Go for Amazon; it’s only $23, and you get a real gem.
It smells similar to Hugo Boss Bottled. It’s a fragrance rich in apple, cinnamon, and woods, with moderate projection and trail. You can find it at a good price in Spain and it’s worth it; a great buy. It works well in mild climates, more for daytime than nighttime, and suits all ages.
I grabbed it because of the good recommendations in the groups, and finally, I have it. First impression: rich and pleasant aroma. I was pleasantly surprised to notice it smells a lot like Eternity Flame, something no one has mentioned, but for my nose, it’s true. It’s a wearable, warm, and slightly serious scent, ideal for autumn, winter, and cool spring nights. I’ll update later on how the longevity holds up.
An eternal gem. It was my signature between ages 30 and 40. It used to sell for years at giveaway prices, and now it’s impossible to find without paying 5 or 6 times more. It’s hard for me to find anything that resembles it on my short journey through this world. I adore it. I compare it to Miracle Homme; that’s the closest thing I can find, just like with that other one. It has its own personality, totally distinct from post-2020 fragrances.
I picked this up recently in 50ml at an insane price in my city; the owners probably didn’t realize what they had. I was convinced it’s discontinued based on that vintage Davidoff typography and the reviews I’ve read. In my opinion, it’s a good perfume: nothing revolutionary, but the scent is very pleasant. It smells a lot like Boss Bottled EDT. I have a 2009 bottle with about 15ml that smells sweeter, though you can still detect the cedar and citrus, just not the same ones. It also dries down similarly to my Puig Quorum Silver, but the opening is spicier due to the ginger. Ultimately, Virginia cedar, amber, and patchouli tie it all together. Longevity and projection are moderate—ideal for work without bothering anyone—but I wouldn’t wear it daily since it’s hard to find; I’d save it for special occasions. Not recommended for heat, better suited for mild weather or autumn-spring. So far, Davidoff hasn’t disappointed me; I’ve liked every fragrance they’ve released. If you see it, buy it blind.
