Descripción
Ambré by Baldessarini is a woody oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 2007, the nose behind this composition is dsm-firmenich. The top notes reveal red apple, tangerine, and whisky; the heart unfolds leather and violet; while the base notes close the olfactory pyramid with amber, oak, vanilla, and labdanum.

My dad owns this perfume, so it reminds me of him a lot. I swear that smelling it transports me to his house, to those vacation days I visit, even though I don’t go very often because he lives on the other side of the world. It gives me a huge amount of nostalgia, and I miss my dad so much.
At first, I thought it was bergamot and some weird green note, maybe tangerine with red apple. But the amber takes over from the start. By six hours, it was fully amber, vanilla, and labdanum. The leather and violet phase passes quickly; on paper, the leather smells like new car synthetic. By nine hours on skin, I noticed a shy wood note—not cedar, oud, or oak (though American oak in wine gives vanilla, I’m not sure if it’s the same here). The drydown is generic, more oriental-ambery than woody. I applied more than 1 ml and it lasted over 12 hours; the sillage is heavy for the first hour but drops quickly to moderate, then weak, though heat activates it. Ideal for fall, winter, and nights. This is the best I’ve tried from this brand and it delivers as a designer-style oriental amber.
At first, I thought it smelled of bergamot with some unknown green note, perhaps due to the mix of tangerine and red apple. But from the start, the amber stands out. By six hours, it had settled into labdanum, amber, and vanilla. The intermediate phase with leather and violet passes very quickly; it’s better noticed on blotter paper, where the synthetic leather reminded me of new car interiors. At nine hours on skin, I felt a timid wood, not cedar, guaiac, oud, or cashmere (I clarify this because of the oak note, which I’m not sure if it’s American, as it usually gives a vanilla-wine vibe). The dry down feels generic: more ambered oriental than woody. I applied it generously and it lasted over 12 hours; the trail is heavy for the first hour but drops to moderate and then weak, though it activates with heat. I see it better for autumn, winter, and nights. Of everything I’ve tried from this brand, this is what I liked the most, and it fulfills its role as a designer ambered oriental.
It’s an interesting fragrance, well-made, rich, and balanced, and elegant. However, personally, it didn’t impact me as much nor leave me wanting more, as it tends to remind me of similar ones I’ve already tried. That said, it’s expensive, obviously due to its quality, and its initial opening is very good for the first few seconds.
I just got Baldessarini Ambré and I’m already convinced. Its strength and that masculine vibe made me pay the $40 instantly. The value for money is unbeatable, perhaps the best I’ve tried in years. It’s acidic, ambered leather with a whiskey-cured apple (hidden note) and a touch of vanilla; the result is robust, modern, and very attractive, almost sexy. Ideal for night and resistant in dirty environments; the tobacco adds even more character. Although it doesn’t project much, if you apply it well before heading out, it lasts 10 to 12 hours. It reminds me of Guerlain’s L’Homme Idéal and sometimes of the sweetness of Hermès’ Bel Ami, a discontinued jewel that has a huge reputation on forums. In summary: highly recommended, undoubtedly the best of the brand.
If it were more potent and longer-lasting, it would be in my top 5. It’s a shame it doesn’t last long on skin, and that’s something I don’t like in a fragrance.
If this perfume were a bit more potent and long-lasting, it would be in my top 5. Unfortunately, it doesn’t last very long on the skin, and that’s something I don’t like in a fragrance.
Baldessarini Ambré feels like a formal-cut fragrance: ambered, woody, and fruity. Upon spraying, it projects a fruity aroma, a bit in the style of Hugo Boss fragrances; in fact, it carries that classic apple note from Boss, and you can detect some spicy notes. The leather, vanilla, and amber notes are also perceptible from the start, but after half an hour, they begin to take prominence. As MarcusRS noted, I also detect some tobacco, but always under the control of the leather, amber, and fruit. Its style is formal, and it has better presence in cold or fresh climates. I found the projection moderate and the longevity between 8 to 9 hours. The scent is pleasant, though given its style, I believe it’s more for mature men than for young ones.
Ambré by Baldessarini is formal, ambered, woody, and fruity. In the opening, it smells like fruit à la Hugo Boss, with that classic apple and a spicy touch. Leather, vanilla, and amber are noticeable at first, but half an hour in, they gain prominence. As MarcusRS says, there’s a tobacco note, but leather, amber, and fruit dominate. It looks formal and works better in cool or fresh weather. Projection is moderate and it lasts 8 to 9 hours. It smells great, but I think it’s for mature men, not young ones.
A fragrant, ambered red apple with woods… a delight. It brings back memories of Borsalino Panama and has something of Boss Bottled. This Ambré by Baldessarini has its own charm, blending great icons from the early 2007 era. It can also evoke memories of stages like Zippo’s Dress Code Black, which sits on the same line. It’s an excellent timeless fragrance for anyone who likes these ingredient blends. Since it’s discontinued, if you manage to snag a bottle, you’re a lucky devil.
At 15, my mom gifted me a replica of this perfume in a neighborhood in Santiago, and it accompanied me through unforgettable teenage moments: first love, hangouts with friends, and family time. When it ran out, I kept the bottle out of nostalgia. Years later, while collecting perfumes seriously, I dug it out again and started searching for the original. The surprise was huge when I discovered that ‘Baldacchio’ was actually ‘Baldessarini,’ an author’s fragrance. I managed to get a used bottle during the pandemic, blind, hoping to recapture a bit of that scent that empowered me, but life gifted me much more: an experience with a robust, masculine, woody, liquorish, and fruity fragrance—everything I remembered but multiplied in power and quality. I now wear it only for special occasions. The spiced apple, velvet leather, slightly sweet base, and sturdy wood structure make it a perfect scent with a very special place in my collection and my heart. Rating: Infinite/10. Thanks to Luis Aguilar for the miracle and to my mom for such a witty gift.

Just picked it up and the first impression is a fragrance with immense richness—soft leather and whiskey, nothing harsh or loud. I really like it. I’ll be testing it out in a class tomorrow.
