It feels like inside and outside at the same time. I was captivated by that carved crystal bottle, reminiscent of the sun in desert movies. The etchings look like a star seen through the sand, marking the horizon with whimsical and sublime shapes—or perhaps a mirage. Yves Saint Laurent learned a lot from his travels to Africa for Saharienne. Inside the bottle, he captured the essence of the women of the Sahara and Morocco, achieving an alchemy between desert aromas and the scent of the region. It’s my favorite YSL for hot nights: I smell clean and fresh thanks to the bergamot, mandarin, Egyptian bitter orange blossom, petit grain with calming properties, and a light touch of ginger and pink pepper. It’s crazy to wear it in autumn at 28 degrees near Cuba. I wear it to sleep, comforted by the neroli and bergamot to ease tensions, and the pink pepper as a spiritual protector of my dreams. Thank you, YSL, for bringing a desert night to the bedroom and for this fresh, wise legacy.
I just bought this beautiful perfume to use this summer. It’s fresh, an exquisite combination of citrus, florals, and ginger in perfect balance. Longevity isn’t huge, but it’s fine; in summer we shower more often, sometimes twice a day, so it easily lasts about 6 hours on skin. It’s very similar to Eau de Givenchy, especially regarding the citrus notes. I also bought this for summer, though the Givenchy lasts longer on my skin.

A delicious, feminine, dense, and slightly powdery ginger. In the development, it awakens a floral and spicy touch with an exotic and sophisticated note. On the opening, I notice less alcohol than the Escales, and I find its proposal more fun, perhaps not as classic. My mom wore it today and I thought it was super pleasant and pretty, despite being quite simple. It has pretty good performance, according to her. It’s for daytime use and warm seasons. A scent without big pretensions, just to not overcomplicate things, but it works. I love the bottle. 7.75/10.
This perfume evokes an adventurous, mature, and experienced woman who never loses her calm or her desire to keep exploring. A woman dressed in white, walking through hot lands. The freshness of the citrus and its spicy blend of pink pepper and ginger give it a unique touch and wake me up. At night I can still smell it, and the airy, fresh morning trail leaves a very soft talcum-like sillage, almost like desert sand dust.

I fell in love with this perfume in a hotel in Rome. I arrived at night, exhausted, with a mix of car exhaust and restaurant smells. I went up to my room and a tourist’s perfume hypnotized me. It was a fresh, citrusy, and very sophisticated scent; you could tell they had been out all night and the scent was perfect. When I got to Spain, I didn’t stop until I found it: it was Saharienne, and I lasted 0.01 seconds before buying it. Contrary to other opinions, the longevity on me is inexhaustible, too much… I even started to hate it for this. What initially seemed fresh turned into a nightmare of bitter citrus. I’m not the only one; I’ve seen reviews from people who thought the longevity and sillage were enormous.
Like with Mitsouko, I tried this in the summer. The opening is great, fresh, refreshing, and summery, but after 20 minutes I only perceived the lemon. I like citrus, but in this case, it was too much; no white florals, no pepper, no ginger, just lemon. Disappointing, honestly. It doesn’t remind me of Azahar by Adolfo Domínguez; in that one, I do perceive a lot of bitter orange blossom and neroli. Anyway, I’ll try giving it a second chance.
As usual this time of year, I’m looking for something fresh to replace my usual Eau de Rochas for summer. Today I tried Saharienne and it’s not bad, despite its weak sillage and short longevity on my skin. I detect ginger, lemon, currant, galbanum, and pepper. The opening is fresh, then it warms up; it definitely smells like summer, so I think it’s more appropriate for spring and autumn than for the hottest months. After trying it with Azahar, I ran to buy my Eau de Rochas again 🙂
As every year around this time, I try fresh perfumes to replace my usual Eau de Rochas for summer. Today it was Saharienne’s turn, and it’s not bad, despite the weak sillage and short longevity on my skin. I notice the ginger, lemon, cassia, galbanum, and pink pepper. The opening is fresh and quickly becomes warmer; undoubtedly it smells like summer, but I think it’s more appropriate for spring and autumn than for the heat of summer. After testing this and Azahar, I ran to buy my Eau de Rochas 🙂
I agree with Selene: ‘Very similar to Dior’s Portofino, and I like Dior’s more’. For my nose, the lemon, petit grain, cassia, and floral notes stand out… it’s fresh, elegant, and nothing more. In this ‘citrus aromatic’ style, I feel that other brands like Dior and Hermès have more to offer; however, it’s a good fragrance.
A very citrusy and fresh aroma, reminds me a bit of Jean Paul Gaultier’s La fleur du mal and Adolfo Domínguez’s Azahar. Perfect for mild days, more for daytime than nighttime.

Very similar to Dior’s Portofino, and I like Dior’s more, but those who like soft, clean, and fresh scents will love it. As for me, I don’t get along well with Yves Saint Laurent.
