I fell in love with Cartier Must Gold from the very first moment; its elegant, wonderful vintage-style bottle says it all in every line of its structure. Cartier Must Gold smells of opulence, beautiful white flowers with their leaves and stems, a sunny day that turns the fragrance creamy, warm, and embracing. It behaves like precious silk brushing against the skin, an elegance floating in the air, holding within itself that style of eighties fragrances, but tamed, educated, refined in its manners. It shares that same elegant, minimalist style of Narciso Rodríguez fragrances without sharing any common notes; generally, Narciso scents have musk, but Must Gold has no musk, only beautiful green notes, white flowers, I sense something citrusy not listed in the olfactory pyramid, a comforting and very elegant vanilla that embraces and supports the perfume in a way that seems sublime to me. I imagine Vivien Leigh as the image of this perfume, with the musical backdrop of Enya’s Caribbean Blue. Longevity is about 6 hours, moderate sillage.

Cartier Gold Must brings together vintage and modern styles at its purest. It’s a sober and elegant fragrance that opens with an imperious galbanum, not an obnoxious one, lacking that usual bitter and astringent aftertaste this plant gives, perhaps softened by osmanthus that modernizes it and dresses it for new generations, adding that special touch for those who already loved Cartier’s Must. Its green notes enchant me throughout the dry down, announcing a vanilla that doesn’t transform into gourmand but caresses the stems with supreme beauty; there we have the unmistakable seal of the house: a slightly oriental, green fragrance sprinkled with creaminess. Focused for a natural woman who loves nature but carefully inspects her wardrobe when dressing, who organizes her drawers to the millimeter and dares not speak a word above or below even if she thinks she’s right; a woman who doesn’t reveal herself through her tongue, but through her integrity and firm thought. Solidity and personality.

  • It’s a delicious and elegant aroma for those who enjoy green notes, slightly powdery and clean florals. It has nothing to do with Cartier’s Must; it’s a different perfume, of high quality, long-lasting, and with good projection. However, it didn’t work well with my chemistry; despite liking this type of scent, there’s a note that gives me a headache and it broke down to smell like insecticide. It wasn’t my skin pH, but maybe it suits other ladies much better. Highly recommended to test on skin; in my opinion, it’s a good option for mature women.

  • I see many classify this as green. Maybe it’s my skin’s effect, but for me, who loves green perfumes, those notes don’t stand out. On my skin, it smells cosmetic; not bad quality, since Cartier never smells bad, but it’s the opposite of what I expected from a green fragrance. Compared to other feminine scents, it’s not that sweet. But the vanilla, flowers, and oriental touch make it quite heavy. I’d say it wears its name ‘Gold’ well; the aroma makes me think of golden balm. I agree with those who identified it with mature women; I can’t picture a 25-year-old wearing this. It’s a well-made perfume, but I don’t think it will be the favorite of many green lovers.

Its opening is warm with a super fresh green touch (the galbanum really shines here). As it settles, it becomes a barely sweet vanilla with a bouquet of wild herbs that don’t quite reach bitterness and a powdery hint. It’s a warm, soft, and elegant aroma. Refined in a vintage style, but without the beastly potency of old-school perfumes. It reminded me of luxury body creams from the early 90s.

I went to the store just to try it out. Upon spraying it, the first thing I noticed was spicy, without that green touch others like. I expected it to be more potent, but the first hour was a warm and rich scent; then, after an hour, it turned into a talcum powder smell. By five hours, it barely lingers on the skin with that rich powdery scent. It’s a beautiful perfume, but I didn’t take it home because it doesn’t add anything new to my collection. In fact, it reminds me almost scandalously of Dana’s Tabu that I’ve had for over 35 years; even the powdery Tabu smells the same. Of course, Must is about five times less potent than Tabu, which is a true jewel and a bomb at the same time. It’s a classic with a gorgeous bottle that I’ll one day gift to my mother to apologize for having appropriated her beloved Tabu, which she started using at 14.
