A cutting-edge fragrance that fits perfectly on any man today. Perhaps the greenery of the original is too much for some (the sample I have is the Vertical version), but on my skin it’s super balanced; it smells fresh and timeless. It’s hard to imagine anyone seeing it as outdated, like when a young person wears a good vintage and the shoes are too big. Here, the green, outer, foresty, woody, and floral elegance is a second skin, a beautiful sensation. Aliage is fresh, citrusy, and mossy from start to finish. It has a resinous pine base, oak moss, and vetiver, just to give it a rare touch that speaks to the forest with its needles and leaves. What kind of personality would a woman have to wear this today? Tough but tender, distant yet enveloping, woody and warm all at once. Aliage combines all of that and the feeling of that era of so much growth and change. It’s a fragrance that, as they say, has more meat on the bone than today’s scents; basically, it’s a miracle it still exists (though quite altered in my opinion). If you want to get lost and melt into a deep embrace with a chypre that beats like an open heart from memory, and feels like a fire tempered by tears thinking that things like this no longer exist, seek out a vintage version and enjoy a great perfume.
