It’s the fourth fragrance from this brand I own. I see it as half good, half regular. It opens with an acidic incense, nutmeg, and myrrh—very exciting. After ten minutes, it settles and balances, but that doesn’t convince me: that initial density becomes too light. It behaves like PDM’s Nisean. It’s fairly linear, sticking to a soft bubble of incense, myrrh, oakmoss, and a creamy, salty base. It’s quite good but doesn’t grab attention. On my skin, it lasts eight hours, though by the fourth hour, you have to lean in to smell it. I lean towards a masculine vibe, suitable for semi-formal or formal occasions. Versatile for all seasons except extreme heat. I love it; it’s serious, it just lacked some steroids. Scent: 8.5/10 Sillage: 7/10 Projection: 6.5/10 Longevity: 6.5/10
The Mandala by Masque Milano. I picked it up due to a promotion at a niche perfumery: spend a certain amount, and they gift you 35ml of the brand. I wanted Russian Tea, which I’d heard great things about, but a few days before shipping, they told me it was out of stock and only let me choose from a few I didn’t know, including the Mandala. I selected this based on the notes, looking for incense since I didn’t have any in my collection. Big mistake! I’ve had it for over two weeks. It’s a weird blend that never quite fits. The opening is soapy and spicy (angelica and nutmeg?), then moves to spicy (cloves and cinnamon) and ends with a bomb of ambergris. Over time, it just leaves behind acidity with faint echoes of what came before. And the incense? It’s way in the back, overshadowed by everything else. It lacks cohesion and balance. An unfulfilling perfume. I don’t recommend it; it’s a shame. Age: 40+, 90% male/10% female. Winter. Short outings. Scent: 1.0/10. Sprays: 3-5. Longevity: 8/10. Duration: 8h. Sillage: 6/10. A signature fragrance, for daytime wear with at least casual attire. It’s incense-forward without being overpowering, featuring a very subtle sweet touch from myrrh and a hint of creaminess from sandalwood. There’s something else dancing along that I can’t quite identify, but it’s well-blended.
