Descripción

Zoologist Perfumes' Panda Edition 2017 is an oriental floral fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2017, this composition was created by Christian Carbonnel. The top notes unfold with apple, tea, ozonic notes, osmanthus, magnolia, mandarin, and lily of the valley. The heart reveals an earthy blend of patchouli, bamboo, jasmine, iris root, and amber, while the base settles on musk, galbanum, sandalwood, and vanilla.

  • I’ve been testing this out for days in this Barcelona heat. It’s not fresh, but it handles the humidity well. It starts green and earthy, smelling like the fountains in a park in summer: living vegetation, soil, and moisture. Then the mandarin comes through, mixed with that earth, creating a citrus, earthy, and sweet scent that’s new to me and smells like a cave inhabited by frugivorous animals (even though pandas aren’t one). The projection is soft but noticeable in bursts. After two hours, when it dries down, it becomes a musky, watery white floral that stays close to the skin and lasts about six hours total. I see this as unisex from spring to fall; in summer, the phases pass too quickly and it evaporates before it can really express itself. I absolutely loved the sweet-earthly blend (I tried it in Bat before, but it was sweeter there), and I’ll use it for casual, outdoor days. However, it’s more of an olfactory experience or personal enjoyment, as the scent of semi-decomposed wet earth might not please everyone. Fall Edition: Tested now, the earthy notes are more pronounced, highlighting the apple and tea, especially when dry. It’s pleasant and easy to wear, with a white floral base that adds a feminine touch; I think it’s one of the few zoologist scents you can wear without fear of offending. It lasts less than in summer, about three hours. After that, its season is spring, where the scent and longevity are well balanced. Pleasant: 8/10 Interesting: 7/10 Versatile: 7/10 Original: 8/10

  • I’ve been testing this out for days in this sticky Barcelona heat. It’s not fresh, but it holds up well in the humidity. It starts green and earthy, like the air near park fountains in summer: a mix of living vegetation, soil, and moisture. Then the mandarin kicks in; combined with the earth, it creates a citrus, sweet, and earthy scent that’s new to me and smells like a cave inhabited by frugivorous animals (even though pandas aren’t one). The projection is soft but comes in bursts. After two hours, when it dries down, it leaves a musky, watery white floral clinging to the skin, lasting about six hours total. I see this as unisex for spring or fall; in summer, the phases pass too quickly and it evaporates before it really shines. I really love the sweet-earthly blend (I tried it in Bat before, but it’s sweeter here), and I’ll use it for casual, outdoor days. That said, it’s more of a personal experience because the wet earth note might not appeal to everyone. Fall Edition: Now that I’ve tested it in fall, the earthy notes, apple, and tea stand out more, especially when dry. It’s pleasant and easy to wear, with a white floral base that gives it a feminine touch; it’s one of the few zoologist scents you can wear without fear of offending. Otherwise, it lasts less—about three hours. After that, I think its season is spring, where the scent and longevity are better balanced. • Don’t overanalyze it; at first, it smells like sweet herbal notes from the apple, but once it settles on the skin, it’s wet earth, wood, and living dampness—not the kind you store, but the kind wood releases when soaked. It’s like the scent that clings to you when you step into a hot greenhouse full of plants. It overwhelmed me for a bit, but it’s not ugly. Later, that damp part fades, leaving the most usable and generic floral-sweet trail.
