Have you worn Camel?

Tell us how it opens, how it settles on your skin, how long it lasts and when you wear it.

At first, it literally smells like urine, lol. Although animalic accords usually work on my skin, I wasn’t sure if that opening was normal, but I see I’m not the only one. Fortunately, it disappears in less than two minutes, leaving a warm, oriental, pleasant, and intimate base. While it’s nice, it’s not enough to personally win me over.

    • Animalic

  2. It’s quite amber, warm, and slightly sweet. I detect incense, myrrh, cedar, a bit of cinnamon, and a nice orange, with that dirty, animalic touch that evokes a city by the desert with dusty streets and spice markets. It also makes me think of cowboys riding in the afternoon. Quite interesting and usable; I like that ‘dirtiness’.

  3. Curious, to put it mildly. The opening is a warm, sweet hint of diabetic urine, but it quickly settles into a warm, spicy oriental with animalic touches. Cinnamon, dates, and nuts stand out, with bursts of dried rose petals. The projection and longevity are atomic: use it sparingly. It’s strictly winter, mature (leaning vintage), unisex, and for people with strong personalities who aren’t afraid to stand out. I see it as personal enjoyment or for close situations; my partner loves it. I have mixed feelings: I wish the civet wasn’t so evident to make it more wearable, though I admit that mix of sweetness and dirtiness is very cozy. It’s not the strangest from the brand, but I wouldn’t wear it to work. Pleasant: 7/10 Interesting: 8/10 Versatile: 5/10 Original: 8/10

  4. Pure amber, warm and sweet. You can detect frankincense, myrrh, cedar, cinnamon, and a lovely orange, but also something dirty and animalic. I imagine a city near the desert with dusty streets and spice markets, or cowboys riding horses in the afternoon. It’s interesting and wearable; I like that dirtiness.

  5. The very essence of exoticism and nothing more. Beyond the Camel field by Zoologist, there’s nothing. Thanks to Christian Carbonnel, this perfume is an oasis of complexity in the mainstream desert. Between incense and myrrh, it’s like your nose is embarking on an olfactory caravan. It makes me feel like Lawrence of Arabia in the middle of the world!

  6. The essence of exoticism, period. Beyond the Camel field by Zoologist, there is nothing else. Thanks to nose wizard Christian Carbonnel, this perfume is an oasis of complexity in the mainstream desert. Between notes of frankincense and myrrh, it’s as if your nose embarks on an olfactory caravan. It makes me feel like Lawrence of Arabia in the middle of the world!

  7. A warm and sweet aroma, dominated by nuts and myrrh. It gives the sensation of being under the shade of date palms in the heart of the desert. In my opinion, it’s one of the most versatile and easy-to-wear scents within the Zoologist house. Rating: ★★★★☆

I bought a sample because I loved the date note in the store, but when I used it at home, it only smelled like urine. Horror.

  9. I’ll start with the official description because it hits perfectly: an olfactory caravan toward a distant market, where rose, dried fruits, and jasmine join incense, myrrh, amber, and cinnamon, only to be surrounded later by musks and oud. CAMEL Perfumer: Carbonnel (the same one from Croxato Man 😅). I stumbled upon this perfume with a surprise; it has Tolu balsam in the drydown and smells delicious 🤤, placing it in my top 3 of the brand. In my judgment, with recent launches, it has stopped doing what characterized it to focus on ‘mass appealing’ perfumes 😑. Personal note: It doesn’t try to recreate the animal scent; it doesn’t smell like a camel (I’ve ridden several just in case you ask), but rather transports you to the desert ecosystem. Known as a modern Arabic fragrance… it’s dry, fruity, refreshing, heavy, and distinct, yet familiar at the same time. It has moderate to low sillage but very good longevity; it projects a lot but stays close to you, so control the sprays (2-3 are enough). It’s not an instant love for most, but anyone can fall for it over time. I wouldn’t wear it on a first date, but it’s perfect to turn it into your signature scent. I doubt you have anything similar in your collection. Recommend buying a sample or travel spray.
